Every time I think hey I'm saving money by not going out, but I buy soo much more money buying crap for scabies!! Yesterday I spent:
GNC=$16.00 garlic pills
Target=$67.00 borax, bleach, windex, fumigators
Amazon=$10.00 sulfur powder

Last week I spent=
Sally's=$15.00 brushes, coconut oil, clips for hair
Family dollar=$14.00 in arm and hammer
Amazon=sulfur soap, sulphur ointment, msm pills, DE $38.00

Not counting hours of washing clothes and drying them.

Come scabies die now!!

my son came home from his dorm scratching himself like crazy, said he had this for over a month, doc confirmed scabies, gave him prescription, never said anything about treatment for the whole family, never mentioned cleaning, washing etc which drives me nuts! How can you be a doc and behave like an idiot???? I've read sooo much online about this and called the clinic, got Permethrin for my daughter and myself and since my fiance is not a patient he didnt get it (so stupid!). But anyway we had enough for him so did the treatment 2 nights ago. We dont have any symptoms, hoping we won't (please God!). All I'm doing is laundry and did lots of scrubbing. Anything else that might be helpful?

You prob already read tons of people saying that their doctors were horrible.
My doctor told me cleaning wasn't a big deal just wash your sheets. That doing a big cleaning was not needed. I had to ask her if my family needed to get treated. She tells me oh ya that's a good idea.
The best thing is to treat 7 days after your first treatment. Make sure you add the prem on your scalp. Don't believe they don't go there, because they do!! Wash clothes in borax, very hot water. Make you spray your shoes with windex ad, I would also keep them in a air tight bag and use them 4 days later just in case or put them in the freezer for 2 days. Make sure your daughters book bag goes into the freezer as soon as she gets home, spray it first with windex. Don't wear jewelry till this is all done! Make sure you vacuum out your car spray it with windex every time you get out of it. If you use a badge for work make sure you wipe it with bleach or alcohol. Just keep on the cleaning for a while till your 200x sure you are cleared I would keep cleaning like mad for another month after you think your fine. Good luck! Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

No luck. Tried 1/4 cigarette and doesn't seem to have changed anything. Dumb idea but at least no harm and no side effects aside from nasty taste in mouth even after brushing and rinsing lots. Blech.

At this point I'm scared that washer and dryer will just die on me. I go to bed, one washing is on and dryer is going and going. I hear both during my sleep, my son experiences less itching, puts gloves when heading to bed so in case he scratches those mites don't end up under his nails. I ran a bath for him last nite with 6 cups of bleach. Doc doesn't want to prescribe Ivermectin even though I'm insisting on it.

It's usually 7 days. I know the washing and cleaning is the worse! Do you have a steamer? A lot of people put things in the freezer for 2 days

You need a new doctor.
Also most of us here have used the perm again next day if infection is bad, though thats for adults. How old is your son?

Too bad temperature outside got up, it has been my temporary freezer storage space for shoes and the to-do laundry. Again, praying washer or dryer doesn't die on me! Heard about table salt applications to wet body after a shower, might be painful but this poor guy goes back to dorm in a few days cured or not. If not then he is in trouble as no time, patience nor mom to do all cleaning and laundry.

U wanted to thank you all for the posts! If not for your help we would go insane. I cannot believe this condition takes place in 21st century, moreover in US and docs have no idea how to help us!

Copied from another forum. What do you think????

after using Ivermectin and Permethrin over and over again I decided to approach this a different way. I also used DE Earth among other things. I knew I was washing everything during and after the treatments only to continue itching and seeing very tiny bite marks. This told me nyphs were still in my skin. I took a warm shower, not hot, remained wet, rubbed table salt from neck to toes and left it on for 10 minutes. You will feel a tingling sensation on the bite sites. This is good. It means the salt is getting into the bites and burrows. I rinsed and then added table salt to the cortizone cream I had been using creating a paste and spread it all over. The salt will fall away but you will not be uncomfortable or even know it is on your skin. I went itch free ALL day! I showered again at night doing the same routine. Again itch free and bite free. The bite marks have dried up, now healing. I put table salt in all my shoes making sure it got under the linings. I think the biggest problem has been dilluting everything and not using it as a paste form. Tea tree oil did not get rid of it even when I dapped it on full strength and burned the heck out of my skin. Scabies need fluid and oxygen to survive. The salt dehydrates them and they die. This was way too simple as I have been battling this for months. I did this for 10 days straight to make sure it was not my imagination or hopefullness. I no longer have anymore bites and no itch. My bite wounds are almost completely gone except for the scars left behind. I continue to vac every day, change the sheets and wash and dry everything in hot. I freeze what cannot be washed and put in the dryer in the freezer for 48 hours. Not sure I will ever stop doing this for fear they are lurking somewhere. There are many variances regarding how long scabies can live away from a host and I am not taking any chances. I have not felt this good in months and now I am going to have a life again. Try the tables salt routine. I promise you will feel relief the first time you do it and it will just get better every day after. Best to you all. This has been the worst infliction I have ever been through and not one I ever want to see return.
