Desperate and pregnant with mites! I found out that I had scabies last Sept. After a month and a half of trying to treat a bizarre rash I find out my husbands whole family had scabies and with the nieces and nephews sleeping over all the time I realized that must be what I have too. I then made a doctors appointment and the next night my husband and two children broke out with it also. We all treated with perm cream and washed everything and their infection cleared up right away and hasnít returned however mine just got worst so I used the perm cream several more times out of desperation(not knowing I was pregnant) as well as several other crazy methods to get rid of these things without luck. I stopped sitting on the furniture at home, going to peoples houses, I put the box spring to the bed in the garage and started sleeping on a sheet-less vinyl covered mattress on the floor. I stopped my home based sewing business because I was afraid of the fabric being infested and had to quit my part-time job at a gym childcare center that I loved because of these bugs. Then I found out that I was pregnant so I stopped all chemical treatments and just did very hot showers without putting my midsection in the shower stream which seems to work good at controlling the itch at night and keeping them contained to by legs. We even moved into a new house this month which I thought would end this nightmare but my scabies just got worst. Itís like their thriving in their new environment. I was really hoping to be over this before I give birth which is at the end of June. I couldnít imagine giving this to my newborn.

Please is there anyone else pregnant with this that might have some advice or someone who has treated this successfully naturally. My doctors donít really take me seriously because they can hardly see any lesions or bumps on my body anymore. My bumps and burrows are much smaller now (I think because of the hot showers) but still itch like crazy and when I blow dry my long hair I can feel them crawling on my face. Donít ya love scabies!!!

Hey, I went through about 2 weeks of research on the topic (various doctors and online references) and I finally concluded that it is safe (and necessary!) but there is still minor risk because it is basically a poison that you are rubbing on your body.

The permethrin cream is supposedly 95% effective, but (see my other thread entitled "Post-Scabies Info") there are post scabies symptoms that are hard to differentiate from the actual active mite scabies symptoms.

Here is the final resource that my doctor found which made him agree it was safe enough to use while pregnant.

http://www.parkhurstexchange.com/qa/A.php...

However, since you are pregnant, I would not treat yourself more than once per 7-10 days.

Thank you for your response but Iíve tried the Perm cream about 8 times and donít really see a reason to try it again. I was so eager to get the Oral medication and once I convinced a doctor to prescribe it to me I took it home and saw all the warnings and something told me not to take it and three days later I was shocked to find out I was pregnant. I figured Iíve poisoned my body enough and possibly my baby with all the rubbing alcohol, bleach, Windex, Lysol and other crazy concoctions that Iíve tried. Now that I know Iím pregnant Iíll only try something natural.

Hot showers have really seem to work the best out of everything Iíve tried but that wont take them away for good. I recommend hot showers and shaving your body to both men and women. When I first found out I had scabies and nothing was working I was so very depressed. I confined myself to the house because I didnít want to give it to anyone so therefore I would never shave my legs. Once I started taking hot showers and feeling better I started taking care of myself and started shaving my legs again which really seem to improve my situation.

If you don't use a scabicide, the mites on you will reinfect the rest of your family. Hot showers help remove surface mites but won't kill the ones burrowed under the skin or the eggs. If not permethrin 5% than try Sulfur, BB or Eurax.

Please find out if ivermectin is safe. Please, and have you read the recent post about a few drops of anise and clove oil mixed with cocoanut oil? Sounds effective--HOWEVER, it sounds as though you need the oral med, ivermectin, most of all. I think it's safer than permethrin, but of course, I would find out as much as I can. Sounds like you need it. You've been doing such outstanding work on the environment, but you know these mites live under our skin and breed there, so it's impossible to get rid of them by just treating the environment. Ivermectin is very safe for most people, including Aids patients and the elderly, but I don't know about pregnancy.

Mite Killer, may I ask you about Eurax. I got a couple of tubes, but Sam says to apply for 24 hours, then reapply for 48. The problem is, honestly, I am dreading this--no shower, plus it's hard to walk around with cream in your hair. I honestly prefer to just do whatever Sam says, because his approach works, he's so comprehensive in his assault on these things, and his case is one of several on here that sounds as bad as mine--but in the case of Eurax, I just wondered whether anyone had experienced good effects with it applying it for less than 72 hours?

I feel like I've lost my way a bit with the topicals. I've been putting on MSM cream the past few nights, but I tried to apply benzyl benzoate the other night mixed with lotion instead of oil. Well, it must not have mixed properly and I think I put on some pure bb by mistake--on my scalp, face, and neck--I thought I was going to die. It burned so bad, I jumped in the shower and scrubbed for about a half hour. I literally felt like I was on fire. My brain pan seemed to be in contractions--it was like I was having a brain seizure, but I wasn't, because I'm ok now. But just the worst near-death experience. It did actually take my mind off the mites for about a half hour.

Janet: Mite Killer mixes her 100% pure bb with sesame oil. She says that sesame oil acts as a PBO for the bb. i mix mine with alcohol. it's a solvent, be careful with it. when you try to wash it off with water, it burns even worse, as it is the water that enhances that burn.

Thanks everyone for responding. I'm going to try to do the sulfur treatment and clove/anise oil treatment. I guess I haven't read enough on this forum because I don't know what BB is or where to buy sulfur or what form to buy it in. I can't seem to find it. If anyone could help I'll be very grateful.
Thank you.

Maybe you used a water based cream? and got a burn?

When I couldn't get any other treatment I did use Eurax, applied it daily for 3 days. Showered on the 4th day. Eurax is about 50% effective. I was not cured by using it, nor did I see or feel any difference in my symptoms. Still, 50% effective is better than nothing and it's pretty safe.

I mix 100% BB with Sesame oil or alcohol or witchhazel. 25% BB to 75% other ingredient.

I my goodness! I supposedly got mites when I was pregnant with my daughter 29 years ago. My doctor had me rub petroleum jelly all over my body and leave it on. It worked. But, when I became pregnant with my son the itching started again, this doctor told me I did not have enough fat in my diet, after I did that the itching stopped

My whole family and I along with all my in-laws had scabies before I became pregnant. It's a wonder that I became pregnant in such a crazed state all covered in a lime, petroleum jelly, olive oil, Epson salt, Listerine mixture while sleeping on vinyl with the alcohol and bleach spray bottles near by.

I just so happen to be reading the forum today and saw your advice. Thank you. My baby is 8 months now and beautiful. He doesn't have 3 eyes like I feared. Anyway, I still have scabies; it is almost 2 years now. I'm using sulfur that seems to be doing nothing but destroying my skin and taking 12m Iver from Mexico which hasn't helped yet. I was eaten alive last night even though I was covered in sulfur by a blanket that I washed for 2 hours in extremely hot water and borax. I've kept things at bay for quite a while but now things seem to be out of control. I just spent the last two hours reading everything on the bird forum. My 3 babies who have not been infected since the first treatment of Perm are now complaining of the crawlies and itchies. I feel so lost and beaten.
