I have had scabies for almost 2 months now. I've tried Permethrin 5% so many times it's crazy. I've tried Tea Tree Oil. I thought it was working after a while, but then it got worse. WAY worse. I've never been so itchy in my life. And the bumps are everywhere. I just took my first dose of Ivermectin 3mg today. My doctor gave me 6 doses. I really hope this works, because I cannot take this anymore. Those of you who've had this for years, I really feel for you. I would rather die than deal with these. They're ruining my social life and comfort.

I took it MANY MANY times over months before I was cured. One dose is a joke. Dr's don't have a clue how to treat this demon. They just think you're crazy after a few visits when you continue to ask for help.
Did you use the 1.87 horse paste topically or orally?

it takes about 4 hours to start working in your system. Stays in your system a little over 24 hours. do not shower or bath for about 30 hours, so the drug can work with your natural oils in your skin. you should take another dose in about 7 days and then another dose in another 7 days, this is in order to get all life cycles of the mites, any hatching eggs, etc. how much do you appreciate complete strangers taking the time to answer your question? you should use permethrin topically at the same time you are using the ivermectin. this combination is known to cure most people of scabies.

I dont even know where to start, I can relate to all u guyz. mine started about two weeks ago after I came back from a trip. mostly on my face with sensation of something crawling on my face, itching. At first mostly was in my nose I felt it on my eybrows and my eylashes. the first Dr. I went to she said its an allergy and told me to take Benedryl and I did that for one nite. I knew that it wasnt a food allergy. Then I looked on line and found out there are so many people with the same problem. I should also add that most of the itching was happening at night when I went to bed so I couldnt even sleep. After calling multiple Dermatologist I finally got an appointment and after I told her my story she looked at me as if I was crazy and gave a shampoo and send me on my way. The shampoo was a fungal dandruff shampoo.....I then immediatly called many other Dermatologists until got an appointment with one that I ve been too before. He too thought I was crazy and didnt believe me but with me incisting he gave a sulfur wash and Ivermectin. which I took that night my itch and crowling sensation stopped for about 12 to 16 hours the half life of the medication and then slowly came back, probably as the eggs hatching. I have been online almost everyday trying to find a cure I understand I have another dose next week but if the medication doesnt kill eggs then they will keep coming back !!! so how are we suppose to get rid of them I have practically locked my self in my room been washing and disinfecting everythin all day long using tea tree oil shampoo and soap and the oil wich I have been rubbing on my face inside my nose and my eybrows I get immidiet relief but they tend to comeback hours later. open to any sugestions.... thanx

you do sound nuttier than a fruitcake and you sound like the same person who has been posting for over a year now with the same story, same rant. Most derms have been trained to treat scabies. They already know that not everyone presents the same symptoms. They usually don't think you are crazy, but, if they did think you were crazy, they would GO AHEAD AND GIVE YOU A FEW REFILLS OF PERMETHRIN, the standard treatment for scabies. They will not give you ivermectin, unless you ask and discuss it, and, unless you have a resistant strain of crusted norwegian scabies or have a compromised immunity. They certainly will not give you a shampoo and send you on your way. FRUITCAKE ANYONE????

Dear Anononononymus.... hi, wad up with you? ummmmmm....
the horsepaste....
meant to be taken orally with a tall glass of water, on an empty stomach.
do NOT mix with a carrier oil and apply topically....
where'd you hear THAT?
yes, use your permethrin cream and apply head, scalp, to toe, entire body.
don't wash or bath for over 30 hours.
repeat this again in 5 to 7 days, and then again in 5 to 7 days
in between treatments,
you can apply 10% sulphur powder mixed with lotion or a carrier oil, full body, and leave on as long as you can.
oh, by the way, the very best ivermectin to take is a good quality stromectol from a United States Pharmacy, so your "story" about a "doctor friend" who bought horsepaste to treat herself, is horse sh.... If she were a doctor, she'd have her buddy write her a script and she'd get it filled down the street. The people on this forum only revert to using ivermectin horsepaste, because it's way too expensive and very difficult to get any doctor (or your "buddy" doctor) to prescribe it. Since you have a "buddy" doctor, I would assume you have no problem getting your scripts filled.
have a good day,
peace out!!

Topical ivermectin: a new successful treatment for scabies.
Victoria J, Trujillo R.
Source
Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine, Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. [email protected]
Abstract
Ivermectin is the only one of the avermectins that has been widely used in humans, since it is recommended as the treatment of choice for onchocerciasis, a filariasis that produces "river blindness," a parasitic endemic infestation in countries of West Equatorial Africa and in some areas of Central and South America. Also, ivermectin has been used for treating human endo- and ectoparasites with effective results and with almost no side effects. To study the efficacy of ivermectin for scabies, which is very common in Colombia, a trial with this drug that could be easily administered, with fast application and high efficacy, was undertaken. For this purpose, six complete families with active scabies, consisting of 12 adults and 20 children ranging in age from 1 to 10 years, were treated with 1% ivermectin in a solution of propylene glycol applied topically to the affected skin. The dose employed was 400 microg/kg, repeated once the following week. All patients were cured, tolerated the medication well, and there were no side effects or signs of recurrence 2, 4, or 6 weeks after therapy. In addition to its efficacy, easy administration, and lack of side effects, ivermectin is a low-cost medication.

It wasn't until she went to the dermatologist that the doc scraped some skin and put it under a microscope that they found she had scabies. She has suffered with them for months, needlessly! Go straight to the dermatologist. She doesn't have insurance, and the office call was $58. It's worth it.
Been to three Dermotologist and non of them want to scrape to DX, One offered me Antidepressent and the other one mot returning my calls, I tried to make an appointment with an Infectiosus Disease specialist and as soon as I told them I think I have parasites they refuse to schedule an appointment saying we had too many cases like you and they all turn out to be nothing.... I dont know what else to do except maybe start treating myself I feel the crawls the itch and bites at nights the most I managed to take two doses of Iver and they both initially worked itcch crawl free for about two days and they start coming back slowly meanwhile using tree tree oil, sulfur and perm to keep the population low until I find someone whos is willing to work with me, anyone knows a good specialist who deals with these sort of stuff in southern California please let me know my email [email protected] any help is much appreciated dont know how much more of this I am able to take my life is a living hell....

This is the most horrific thing I have ever experienced. Got scabies from a patient. These are the MUST HAVE's:
1 Shark Garment Steamer w/the Metal Hot Bar
2 Stromectol or if Dr. isn't cooperative Horsepaste Ivermectin.
3 Clove Oil diluted by Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO--thanks Rachel Ray).
4 Borax (20 Mule Team Laundry Aid)
5 Enzymatic Laundry Detergent (Got mine at Target "Seventh Generation")
6 3M Lint Rollers at least 6-8 rolls
7 Sulfersoap from sulfersoap.com (they’re having issues) & if can’t get it…at least Basis Tea Tree Oil soap
These things live longer than 72 hrs away from a host(you) than the web info states!
1st, treat urself w/the Stromectol & Elimite(permethrin-mine were resistant to permethrin). Then dilute the clove oil w/enough EVOO so that u can tolerate the burning that comes from the Clove Oil (Got mine at GNC "Now" brand). It can set u on fire! Especially in the genital area & around eyebrows/eyelids...so dilute it a whole lot in those areas...can always spray it off if u don't get it diluted enough...but KNOW that it will burn some (10-15 mins..u can endure it..believe me)...don't wanna dilute it to the point that it's ineffective). Shower at least once a day-2x is better & use sulfersoap (can be purchased from sulfersoap.com & has a 10% sulfer content). I washed my hair in Nix/Rid shampoo. This is a daily thing w/all of these things. It has been over a wk & yesterday was my best day yet. Yes, took stromectol daily.
I don't wear, sit on, sleep on, anything that I don't thoroughly steam first (move steamer very slowly!). Bleach has always been my friend & I always bleach my towels...but I even resorted to toweling off after showers w/paper towels to contain them.
The Dr, if he gives u stromectol, will probably only give u 2-3 doses that are supposed to be taken each 1 wk apart....that’s NOT enough to take care of these horrible mites. Horsepaste is $6 at feedstores. See other posts for dosing. After ur 1st dose of Elimite, it may/may not kill the crawling mites, but it WILL NOT kill eggs that have already been deposited by the female into ur skin....so u WILL SEE another episode in a few days when those eggs hatch & the babies start coming to the surface & feeding. This is why u need the stromectol working on the inside as well & need to keep ur serum levels up w/that med (so when they do feed they get the med) & why 1 dose every wk for 2-3 weeks doesn't work...fortunately I got a couple of Dr's. to prescribe stromectol & showed the 1st that the doses was too little for my weight so that Dr. prescribed it again. I took the horsepaste for the 1st time this AM---ick but I was suicidal at many points w/this horror & rather than do that, I told myself I could swallow some horsepaste more easily.
Keep ur house cleaner than u have ever kept it. Vacuum like crazy, buy extra vacuum bags if u don’t have a bagless. I know that the shark garment steamer is expensive $69 at Walmart, but until I got that, I couldn’t break the vicious cycle of re-infesting myself from my environment. They are visible once they are adults (barely). I sterilized a precision pair of tweezers & pulled them from my skin after the multiple meds had killed them & my skin was trying to expunge them. Under a magnifying glass, u could see that they truly were bugs.
Wash everything in HOT water & on HOTTEST setting in dryer for at least an hour each. Clothes should not still be damp when removed from dryer. OH, I also bought an enormous supply of 3M Lint Rollers & rolled those over my skin to pick up any visible & invisible crawlies, & over all my clothes & furniture surfaces before & after I got my steamer. The steamer is a must…I can't stress that enough. It’s what helps break the cycle.
Below is the link about the clove oil. Kills them in 15 minutes.

Hi,
I don't believe ALL my mites were dead after taking the "prescription" Stromectol. I did it two times. One week apart both times. So, for one month, I did the prescription kind.
Now, I am doing the horse paste - 1.87% Ivermectin Horse Paste.
The worst problem I am having is my hands/fingers were FULL of mites. They have been SO painful that touching ANYTHING hurt!!! I have at times 10 bandaids on my fingertips! They like the hands, as we touch everything. Even the other sores on our body, scratching, etc.
I think that might be a question for your pharmacist and for yourself to see where you are, physically.
I still have little mites coming out of my skin as well. So does Patty. So ... it is going to mostly be up to "you" as to when "you" think it is safe.
It also depends on how LONG you have had the critters. Patty has had hers 1 year, me, I have had them for 3 years and just got diagnosed with Morgellons Disease. It is still a mite - the CDC has NOT come out with ANY type of report as to exactly what it is since 2006 when they first started their study. So ,.. how long have you had then? If it is only a short time, then you might be okay. Others of us have been infected for SO long. If only you knew HOW HARD it was to get my Dr to PRESCRIBE THE STROMNECTOL!!!! WOW!!! It took 3 WEEKS from the time I asked for the Dr to CALL the insurance company!!! It needed a pre-auth!
Good luck!
