I have a bit more to add to the above advice in how to use ivermectin. Ideally, the topical lotion you use should be ivermectin lotion, which is applied before sleep on the day that you take the ivermectin pills. I took a course over six weeks, combining pills and lotion each time. I took double the suggested amount of pills each time, and used a total of eight applications/doses over the six weeks, although more spaced out towards the end. And I didn't get any side effects unless I was drinking alcohol, in which case I would vomit. I washed and BOILED my clothes and bedding every day and went to work on the apartment with bug spray. I also showered every day with 10 percent sulphur soap, and left the lather on my body for half an hour during breakfast, then washed it off in the shower. All topical treatments included face and scalp. I was pretty sure this regime should kill all the mites. So after the six week period, I was interested to find that the crawling and biting sensations were still present. I was still getting these sensations as if some mite was living on my body, although I knew that with such a strict regime all the mites should be dead. I used so much ivermectin and sulphur soap that nothing could have survived. I'm pretty sure of that. This is how I discovered that I never had scabies in the first place. What exactly I have, I still don't know, but it seems to be expressing itself in paresthesia, including biting and crawling sensations. Scabies mites are too small to cause crawling sensations, or so I'm told. So in the end, the best thing about ivermectin was that it allowed me to rule out scabies. I was assisted in ruling out scabies by the discovery that none of my friends or family had caught it from me, despite sharing beds and sofas for some time. After two years of hell, I now have my life back, and I don't mind having a few strange sensations on my skin, so long as they're not connected to mites of any kind. The moral of the story is: GET A DEFINITIVE DIAGNOSIS BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER! SOME PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM DON'T HAVE SCABIES! Best of luck to you all, and if you DO have scabies, the combination of ivermectin lotion, ivermectin pills, sulphur soap showers and lots of washing and cleaning should definitely do the job.

So, your suggestion is to get a definitive diagnosis, when you were not able to get any diagnosis whatsoever. So, you still don’t know what type of parasite you had. Regular doctors and derms are not parasitologists. They do not specialize in this. Most people on this forum barely have enough money and time and/or energy to go back and forth to doctors. It takes enough money and time, just to fight this disease. I was fortunate enough to have a vet who knows plenty about parasites, has been educated in treating parasites, and just by looking at my pet, knew exactly what was going on with her. I can see through 60x magnification, my black mites. They are about 30 times smaller than a spec of dirt, so that is how tiny they are. It took me about 2 years to discover this. But, once I did discover how very small they really are, and what color they are, etc., I was better able to control them. And I can feel them crawling on the skin, and I do feel their activity and I do feel the bites, most certainly. They are more active when I am stressed. So, there is a mite out there that is difficult to control, depending on your age and immunity.

The ivermectin most certainly helped you get rid of your parasite, whatever it was that you had. You are just downsizing its effectiveness.

We don’t have ivermectin “lotion” here in America, not that I know of, unless you made your own.

I have been infected with something for about 12 years it comes and goes about every 4 years. I think it might be what they call morgellons. But some are saying that morgellons is some kind of myiasis (fly larva) I had some ivermectin for my goats and yesterday i used it on one of my spots, very painful but made a huge differance in the appearence of the spot. Does anyone know if this is safe, I have tried everything and docters tell me i am crazy there's nothing there, but i am pulling small larva type things out of my skin and they are hooked to the scabs when they come off. I constantly itch and it feels like they are moving under my skin. Has anyone used this on their skin or just orally?

And holly, all the warnings read, i don't think you should take it while nursing. it is not allowed in CA. so it must have cancer causing agents.

Thank you Aaron, I can tell you are helping people. KUDOS!!!!!! And I'm glad you found a vet you could talk to (I never did find a vet or doctor who understood).

Yes, the horsepaste oral ivermectin helped me and I wish I hadn't waited 8 months to take it. I was disgusted and freaked out about having to take horsepaste but I AM GLAD I GOT OVER MY FEAR and I wish I had begun taking it from the FIRST DAY.
Three months into this, a doctor prescribed Ivermectin $75 and I felt NO BUGS FOR THREE SOLID DAYS OF BLISS until I went to an Alanon meeting at a dirty library with carpet and old books and as I was leaving I noticed a sign on the front door that said they had a flea infestation and had sprayed so pets weren't allowed anymore. Fleas have mites hitchhiking on their backs and fleas are BAD NEWS and the precurser to a mite infestation.
Anyhoo,
Yes I did take horsepaste iver for 25 days straight and it HELPED SOOOOO MUCH. My body told me when to stop so I did. The best way to take it is at night around 10pm with milk or butter so if there are any side effects you won't notice.
Also, to have a light coating of Pomado de Azufre 10percent SULFUR CREAM (spanish section of walmart cvs kmart) on the entire body (and slimy dimethicone in your hair like biosilk or citricshine clear and slimy leave in hair shine stuff) so if any buggies hatch and appear on the skin surface they are killed right away.
I took horsepaste Iver every now and then every few months or so after the initial 25 days. It may be just fine to take it every 3 days but I wouldn't go longer than that.
i haven't taken it in six months or more so I wouldn't mind taking a dose again. Buying iver paste in the feedstore is embarrassing to me so when I find a good feedstore I buy a few at a time in cash and try to be invisible.

This started as head lice. Treated over the counter Nix. Thought it was gone. Reoccurred as head and pubic lice. Shaved head and pubic area, then got bites on shoulders, back, abdomen, head, buttocks, and thighs.

Should I take ivermectin for 28 days(every 7 days)and use topical perm in between? If I use sulfer soap, how often should I shower/bathe?

you need to let the iver stay in your skin for 24 hours, don't wash it off until.
if you are going to use permethrin, you have to let the perm stay in your skin, too, for about 20 hours.
once you take a bath, the meds are all washed off and there is nothing there to kill the mites.
ivermectin does not kill immature mites.
you can also use head and shoulders with selenium sulfide 1%,usee it FULL BODY, it helps me.

if you have no meds on your skin, then it's best to bath often to remove the surface mites off your skin.

if you do a round of permethrin and wash your hands, you should reapply the permethrin to your hands.

So there is no cure? This is really depressing. I was talking with someone the other day and they said that they had to be on an antibotic to get rid of it. Wish I really new what worked. I have tried everything. This is like a science nightmare, you just can't see.

This is the second time I have gotten on the internet to find info on this crazy, super bug. Thanks so much for trying to help others I have had this bug for a while and just had to cope with it with tea tree products and psorias shampoo. I recently added the genesis product to shampoo and seem to lessen the jumping of them on my head after a while, They started on my body and used everything from Lindane, Permethin cream, all the lice shampoos but could never get rid of them, and have multiplied in my scalp. So am trying the ivermectin as one of you suggested. I use ammonia in my wash and vaseline on my eyebrows, lashes and some in my ears at nighttime, their worst time for me. It is hard to believe so many people have this. It is really bug from hell and now not feeling like I am crazy or just in my head as some doctors say. Wait till they get it. Well, it is a real answer to prayer as I was coping but hopeless for an answer as didn't know where to turn, so just had to cope. Thank you, Thank you so much!

Dear span,
I have one more thing to ask, where do you get the ivermectin lotion or what is the next best thing, over the counter sulphur lotion? Again, this was a thank you to you and others who take the time to help others and not discourage them. Having this problem is discouraging enough. I Have seen this ivermectin on another forum site and others agree that it helps. Thanks again

I got cured and I am living in the US. Yes there are side effects, you still feel like you have scabies when you do a Premethrin treatment, it will go away, but you must have your enviroment cleaned as well. Still waiting, to see if something happens. But it has been good for the past 6 weeks. Testing waters to make sure it is finally over, THE NIGHTMARE......oh what a devil. I DID GET CURED......

Holly, Ivermectin is NOT recommended for use by nursing humans. Animal studies have found adverse effects on young puppies, etc. Ivermectin is not prescribed to children under age 3 months and about 35 pounds if I recall correctly, and I just read it today. You will be wise to consult your doctor before breastfeeding your child. There is no point in giving your child a drug they dont need.
You can type Ivermectin into a search engine and get numerous sited discussing the drugs use in humans.

I can tell you what does work on scabies for sure is Ivermectin for cattle called Ivermax available at FleetFarm I was ready to kill myself from the scabies so I didn't care what happened. It knocked them out for sure. I boil my sheets and pillow cases and underwear on the stove in a large pot and alternate pillows outside here in WI overnight along with clothes and blankets I can finally sleep again. Watch out for dogs reinfecting and treat them too( don't boil the dogs!)

desperate girl - have you tried clove oil on your face (mixed with Jojoba oil - 1 part clove to 4 parts jojoba)? It's not a full body cure for me (however others on this site have been cured by clove oil) but it DID end the nightmare on my face. I use it every day and night in place of my moisturizer. I theorize that perhaps since the skin is somewhat thin on the face the oil has a chance to work it's magic vs other difficult spots like the soles of the feet where maybe it can't sink in as well.

I haven't used the ivermectin pour on but have done the oral iver - it also helps.

Wishing you health & healing - I am a Mom too and I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. Just remember it's a war of attrition and you will win!

Hang in there!

That's why they make the apple flavored Ivermectin.

I took apple flavored Ivermectin but the key was covering my mattress with plastic. After five months I finally covered my mattress with plastic and got over them in two weeks. Of course, I treated both my cat and dog too.
