Hi,
after reading all the posts (which have been extremely helpful) i thought i'd chip in. i've had these horrible parasites since about november, and i'd never even heard of scabies so i assumed i'd developed eczema because of the cold/ stress. on top of that, the docto i went to see in december said it was a skin allergy and prescribed me antihistamines (bit of a cop out). even the sexual health nurses said it wasn't scabies! it wasn't until a second doctor in february suggested it was and prescribed me permethrin 5% that it eventually figured. i have now done my first and only treatment, and it is day 9 since then. my skin is still itchy and spotty but not as much as before, so i'm hoping for the best and trying not to be paranoid! like a previous post suggested, i have set a base for the level of redness/itchiness so as to not overdo the treatment. i will update in due course whether or not it has worked, but for now i'm trying to stay optimistic. i also haven't really changed my environment, still cleaning and washing clothes/bedlinen just as before. hopefully not being paranoid will win out!

This post has encouraged me so much! I was miss diagnosed for MONTHS with eczema until it got so bad that I ended up in the emergency room. When I was diagnosed with scabies, I was almost relieved. Then I started perm. I thought I would be all better as well but my itch is almost worse and I find myself breaking out in random places with the same types of bumps you had. My roommates and I even moved out of our apartment for 2 days while the whole place got sanitized by cleaners. I'm back now and hoping that I'm getting better. Although I am still stuck in the paranoia stage. Anytime I think of it I start itching. Cross your fingers for me!!

Hi Scared, you should treat 7 days after your first treatment. You don't want to wait and see if they come back after your 1st treatment a month later. Most doctors recommend treating at least 2x and some even say 3x 7 days apart just to be safe. Good Luck and speedy recovery

Linda just make sure you clean your home, car and make sure that you treat shoes and backpacks. Everyone in your home should do use the meds, even pets if you have them. Make sure you treat starting from your head down to your toes. Then repeat the treatment again 7 days later. The med will make you itch even after the mites are dead. Try not to read to much on the forum. I would focus on a cleaning thread and cure thread. Good luck to you and your family.

Diatomaceous Earth is an awesome aide as well for carpets and mattresses. I moved into a place and slept on the floor of the place with my 11month old son two days after the people previous to us had lived there. I also had cleaned after them in lieu of a bond. We both used the permethrin cream but the Diatomaceous Earth was a suggestion from a friend and I found it kept me more reassured within myself and it worked.

so, almost 3 weeks later and I'm pretty sure I've recovered! Only did the one treatment as well, and didn't use any crazy cleaning products/measures :) my skin is still kind of itchy when I deliberately scratch it but it is virtually spot free now and I'm not scratching all the time. So happy now that summer is arriving! It is definitely better to fight the paranoia and not overdo the treatment! Good luck to everyone, I have learnt so much from this ordeal and if I ever meet anyone with scabies I will definitely be sympathetic rather than disgusted

hey everyone, I just started my own blog for people coping and trying to find a cure from scabies. I have dealt with it for nearly 5 months now, and want to offer support/advice to anyone who is or knows someone who is suffering. This is also simply a place to vent.

My experience matches most of the posts here, except that instead of using Permethrin or other poisons, I used Sulfur and Diatomaceous Earth.
I liberality slathered a lotion with 10% sulfur all over my body, three times a day, and washed my hair in a sulfur based shampoo.
I used a lotion called "Chigg Away" which is popular in the military, but there are numerous other products that contain 10% sulfur. "Chigg Away" also contains 5% Benzocain which relieves the itch somewhat while the sulfur is working....and it's cheap. The 10% sulfur meds sold for acne are essentially the same thing, but cost much more.
Then I spread Diatomaceous Earth EVERYWHERE in my house. I'm fairly sure I overdid it since everything was covered in a thin film of dust, and even sitting on a piece of furniture sent up a cloud of DE, but that's ok. DE is not a poison and the food grade DE (which I got because I have pets) can even be eaten.
It took about 2 months for the bumps and itching to finally stop completely, but this protocol worked for me, and there were no side effects like those described by people who've taken the chemical insecticides.
Good luck to all!

Why does coconut oil make me itchy again. I can't seem to trust it. Actually becoming afraid of everything. Clove oil made it go nuclear on my arm, I now know they go internal as well as external. I've got them in my mouth and my nose as well. My left arm is the worse. Used permithrin, still not clear, 3rd. time using it. Been trying to find bensyl bensoate, no luck. Also tring to locate balsam of peru no luck. Hope I can beat this thing.

The itchyness is a histamine reaction. It is caused by some kind of die off from an infection. Coconut oil is 40% lauric acid and that is antibacterial. If you've got them in your nose that isn't scabies because scabies don't go there. Mites like scabies will give you infections that have similar symptoms as scabies and those symptoms will show inside your nose.

The biggest culprit of these infections that mites pass to people is bartonella or something called a bartonella like organism. For a good idea of what you are dealing with you would have to read this thread.

What you have, or anyone here experiencing scalp or head symptoms is a complex set of infections. You may also have mites but those are easy to get rid of but you won't have a change in symptoms until you follow what I have explained on that thread.

Fred, stop telling people that scabies pass bartonella. This ISN'T always the case. You are over the top here. What are you going here? Scabies DO go into the nose and do infect eyes and ears. You can't cure a case of scabies with your herbal tintures. You are leading these people down the wrong path and it is quite an expensive path, at that. Stop it. You are an effing retard. Is this too complex for you to understand, retard?
Has it ever occurred to you that hardly anyone is responding to your protocol on the morgellons thread? It's because it DOESN'T WORK and they are NOT following your protocol. Do you want to know why? Because you are a hard heading moron.

The above on lauric acid (monolaurate) from coconut oil being antibacterial.

Thanks for all your posts. I am freaking out as I sit here at Starbucks feeling a hive like eruption on my back and under my bra lines. Is this a reaction ?I have been dealing with scabies for 6 weeks. I misdiagnosed myself and my dog was misdiagnosed. I ordered suffer dip a week ago and I am ready to hurt someone because the shipping has taken far to long. I have used or overused permethrin. I have completed my 4th treatment. This week I am trying every two days as I was always feeling things crawling after two days. Eggs hatch after 2 days, right? This is my thinking. I get serious hives the day after treatment but for two night I sleep! I have also gotten fat lips..no one has mention that. That is how I knew something was wrong initially. The right bottom lip swelled two times its size. WTF? I cry most morning and especially when I wake with new welts. Most scabies welts are gone in am. So what the hell are these? Why can't any doctor tell us what the hell is going on? My vet has been terrible help. Missed all the signs. Help....

I had in my nose, ears private parts you name it. It is scabies because my dog has it! Please don't say it can. People also say you cannot get it in your hair. That is bs!! Saline wash seemed to get rid of them in the nose. Tea tree oil calmed then in my hair but I don't think it got rid of them.

I tried it and can tell you it was a complete waste of money and time. When your products do not cure your telephone staff try to resell you more of the same implying that I (your customer) didn't follow your instructions or didn't use your products long enough. Essential oils and enzymes do not have any effect whatsoever on these Scabies mites. You guys are spamming to make money off of peoples misery. If your products worked, none of us would be on this forum. Please stop trying to sell us your snake oils, they do not work, period. It's a rip-off!
Thank you. For saving me the time and money on this scam Ill try anything at this point ...

I finally got to my primary physician's office and she was VERY worried about the infection. By this time the back of my leg was so purple it was almost black. It was also warm to the touch. She said the scabies were gone. I was placed on Bactrim 800/160. She also gave me an antibiotic ointment for the infected part only. I was also put on bed rest.
I came home and freaked out thinking I still had scabies and rubbed Perm all over again that night. I woke the next day even worse. I had a rash on the tops of my feet, behind my ears, on my belly, thighs, forearms, bicept area - all of the places I made SURE to rub the Perm lotion on. There were none on my back and none on my face though - the places I didn't rub it.
I went to my primary again and she said, "I think you have contact dermatitis." Duh. Why hadn't I thought of that?
The difference with this rash and the scabies was that the rash did not burst and ooze after the Perm. It was as itchy and awful as scabies though, with bumps too.
Here's the best pic I could get of it on my arm:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/cru5h/...
Then I found this website and realized that the Permethrin was what the problem was. I had overused it in my itchy paranoia. I began to treat my skin as kindly as possible immediately. I discontinued the antibiotic ointment. And I took a nice oatmeal bath. I kept the area cool as best I could at all times. When I was warm, the itching was hell. I covered myself with Cetaphil lotion and it was very soothing at the time.
Now, I'm still healing. It's been almost 3 weeks since the first bumps appeared. Only in the really scabies affected areas do I have the worst damage. Here are pictures from yesterday.

After the first application of Perm it caused my skin to be leathery, red and dry. Now it's becoming more supple, but it's still so dry that it's scaly. It's still itchy but I can see it getting better slowly every day. I use Palmer's cocoa butter on the worst parts. I use Neutrogena's Light Sesame Oil everywhere else. Some parts have entirely cleared up.
I hope that someone will stumble across this post and get the help or encouragement they need. This was the worst thing to ever happen to my body. I'm not unhygienic, live in a very clean home, and have no idea where I got scabies from. If this sounds like you - try to relax. Stop over treating yourself and be really good to your skin after Perm. Good luck!
Hi Reina! Thanks so much for your post. It was very helpful to me because I'm experiencing some of the same symptoms. I'm going to see my primary physician tomorrow and prayerfully we can figure out what it is and come up with a solution for it. Again Thanks!

Update. I am on week three or four of nontreatment or hopefully post scabies. I still get hives around 4 or 5 then again at about 10 to midnight. Taking 2 Benadryl and rubbing tea tree oil on the hives which are the only things that make me feel better. I finally put all the blankets on my bed again. Sometimes I still get the crawling sensation around me feet and legs but goes away with the drugs. Each week the hives are a bit better. I am still not 100% sure what is happening or has happened. I talked to a nurse tonight who dealt with kids with scabies and she is not aware of post scabies hives. I tend to think because of my 5 or 6 perm treatment I somehow screwed up my skin for awhile. Cannot get confirmation. At least in the last 4 days my fat lip stuff has not come back. That scares me.. Makes me worried I am reinfected. I do not have the itchiness and crawling feeling like before. I still don't know for sure if it was scabies since I rarely had bites that lasted more than a night or morning vi did not have bites that lasted for days. I am 90% sure my dog had it. Now he too battles allergies for that or grass allergies. I pray daily that this will go away and hope I am in post scabies. I will bathe in neem oil just to be dure
