HELP!!!
I've was misdiagnosed with ECZEMA, I started feeling itchy on my chest, noticed what I thought was a mosquito bite (s), then I saw the red scratch marks, that I later learned was "burrows" After months of suffering, I went to my doctor, who sent me to a different skin doctor, whom then diagnosed me with scabies, I had my 2nd treatment last night, left the permethrin 5% cream, I was also given Clobetasol for itching, was given this medicine before diagnosis...
I washed the 2nd treatment off, earlier today..I had a squirmy insect/bug on my arm, it was probably a half inch long, then I noticed I believe was is new burrows on my thighs/leg areas...I did not notice these when I applied medicine last night. I have a cat but when I have the medicine, until I wash off, I won't touch her. I thought we couldn't get scabies from animals/pets?? Google is scary, sooo much info, and confusion. Was I reinfected soo soon? God, I'm so worried about my family members, we're trying the best we can, but I know I most likely didn't vacuum my computer chair or coffee table rug after the 1st treatment. I researched a natural soap by Naturasil. It supposed helps with all kinds of skin issues, including scabies, ezcema, jock itch, etc. It's called Naturasil Lavender Sulfur medicated soap, it's available online to buy, not sure if in drug stores. Can someone please give me advice, I'm still so itchy, and fearful that I might be reinfected, anxious...can't go the dr. til next thursday! It seems so far away...I just want this to go away for good, damn scabies suck! I think I'll have the skin test done, if needed grab some of the soap, I'm desperate to get rid of these sob's :'(
It's most likely part of post scabies, you've done the treatment but you can still itch and get red pumps for weeks. Just keep cleaning and wait a couple weeks to see if it improves. There is some scary stories on here, don't let this make you crazy. Good luck and God bless.

I had the same problem, with me it was re-investation. Still dealing with it. I think iverm is the real deal--I am going to try that as soo as I get an rx for enough to do any good--seems like it takes multiple treatments to gt the eggs etc after they are hatched. Good luck
How do you know it was re-infestation?

Please give you body time to recover, do not over med yourself. Post scabies is scary and your mind will mess with you. I had red pumps and itching for well over a month but it never developed into a rash then slowly went away. The reaction to the meds is much like scabies symptoms

How long did you have scabies? Also did the bumps look like pimples? How long have you been clear?

3 months and yes sometimes they looked like pimples and other times just red dots and did still itch at night. The only way to know for sure is the stop medicating but maybe continue cleaning , give it a couple weeks and see if it starts getting better. It was the worst 3 months of my life but I think the last month if not more was just me being so freaked out and over medicating. I still freak out over a small itch or pump but its short lived .
It's a terrible lonely thing for anyone to go thru alone.

I've used the cream 3 times now & still itching. Although it's nowhere near as bad I'm noticing a few new red bumps over my body. Is this reinfestation or post scabies syndrome?

I have done 5 treatments believing I was still infected. I went to dermatologist on Wednesday and he gave me all clear he said the bumps and itching are just an allergic reaction and will clear eventually. He said it always affects people psychologically . I would wait a awhile it was 10 days after my last treatment when I went to see hom and I still itched and had a few new bumps which he said were not burrows. Ask your doctor to refer you if you are worried I feel so much happier now cos he also gave me an open appointment to go back iof I was worried

Yes try and hold on I think we really end up damaging our skin because we become obsessed with every itch and bump I still thought I had live mites when I went to see dermatologist and would have done another treatment if I had not seen him.

Thank you, I'm just so paranoid. I bathed my 5 year old son last night & noticed a few new small lumps on hom when I was drying him, but you say they're just an allergic reaction? We 1st applied cream 3 weeks ago & 2nd application 2 weeks ago. We are all still scratching but definitely not to the extent we were & it's not affecting our sleep anynore thank God. Does that mean it's post scabies reaction do you think, & I should relax now? We were very thorough with treatment. Thanks again suzyb :)

Hi I know its the worst thing ever because you cant actually sse them. thats what the dermatologist told me he said the spots (not burrow) werent actually where the mites were. I had loads on my chest and belly yet nothing on my hands at all but when he looked through microscope there were old burrows between my fingers. We kept retreating because first doctor wouldnt treat my 7 month old grandson and so we probably were getting reinfected. Last 2 treatments my chest and belly clearing well but even last night a small spot appeared on my leg it made me want to rush for the cream. If you dont itch as much and they are just spots and not burrows Id leave it a bit longer cos the first time I used the cream I hardly had any spots but after treatment my skin broke out really bad so I think some reactions are the cream its the not knowing that drives you mad! x

The same as you!! Please tell me what happened? I can't believe that after 9 weeks I can get then again? Just wondering if I could have been mis-diagnosed in the first place.

Please help.
I was oiginally diagnosed with scabies in Nov. I had patches mainly on backs of hands, elbows (outside), and ankles (none of the typical scabies spots and no burrows found). Treated self, and 18 mth old daughter with premethrin 5% x 2 treatments, cleaned house, etc. Her Dad also treated himself and his house though neither of them had any symptoms. I did additional Prem treatment at end of Dec when there was a slight risk of re-infection. Continued itching but after using Eurax for a week the itching subsided early Jan and I thought that was it...
Mid Feb I started itching again, a small patch on the back of my hand. Since then I've had small eruptions of itchy rash in various places (upper thigh, back of calf) but cleared up when treated with Eurax or aqueous cream. Back of hand continued to flare though not esp. itchy. On Fri I noticed pimples at various points up both forearms and on my right elbow (outside again). Dr has diagnosed scabies again and I did a 4th Prem treatment last night.
I am so confused...
how could I be clear for nearly 2 months and then get it again? I am single (and celibate) and the only person I have prolonged 'skin-to-skin' contact with is my daughter who is not showing any signs. There is a slight chance of infection from two sources but neither are symptomatic.
Could it be post scabies flare ups?
I really don't want to treat my daughter with toxic chemicals again when she has no symptoms - and how can she have no symptoms when we co-sleep most nights?
Are other skin complaints misdiagnosed for scabies ever/often?!
Thanks

I had scabies for three months. I have psoriasis which is what my dermatologist thought was acting up. Finally she realized it was scabies and treated me. After five treatments with perm I chose to stop treating. It's been two months and I still get itchy and get bumps now and then, but I know it's post scabies because it is in no way as bad as it was before treatment. I used to have to sleep in the tub to get sleep. Now I sleep completely fine. It's an allergic reaction and the more you use the perm cream the more you damage your skin. I've read that post scabies can last up to seven months. Awful, but I think the longer you went without treating the more you skin was damaged. F$&@ scabies, F$&@ perm cream. Worst thing I've ever experienced. Good luck to you all out there.
