Ok but I just want to warn you to much perm on the skin can make symptoms worse be careful. I did put it on my family 3 times in the period of around 3 weeks dont even think it was 3 weeks and it made my itching worse than when I had the mites on me. Ive been reading other stuff and the permethrin 5% is supposed to cure most scabies so if you keep them your probably getting reinfested somehow. In some cases they can be resistant to perm cream. You really do need to do some major cleaning in the week your waiting to do another treatment. Thats very important. Wash everything in hot and dry on hot. If not put in a trash bag and seal up and dont use it for a while. Goodnight Hope you get relief soon.

Wait at least a week to use the perm again, and also i read your supposed to apply to cool dry skin. I didnt know this and I applied after a shower all 3 times its ok to take a shower before just wait a little while after and let your skin cool down. We are doing good after our treatments my itching has calmed down alot its normal to itch up to a month and even longer in some cases its also normal to still get a few bumps just try not to freak out and keep an eye on the bump. I read that if it goes away in 3 to 4 days then its probably post scabies if it spreads then your probably reinfested. I am so glad I stuck with not over treating I wanted to treat over and over but I stopped myself. The permethrin 5% is toxic and shouldnt be used over and over although some people do. This is one of the hardest things I ever dealt with. Its an emotional rollercoaster. My son had it all over and his skin is as smooth as a baby now and I couldnt be happier. This has really changed my life. I dont think the same at all. I feel like I just want to help people get through this like everyone on here helped me.

The first thing I did when I found that my family and I got scabies from a relative that stayed over was get the Permethrin cream. I also purchased Rid fabric spray that also has permethrin in it. I purchased painters tarp, matress covers, and garbage bags in addition to other household cleaning supplies. I covered the matresses with the plastic covers and put the pillows into the trash bags. I found this trapped the scabies and with no human contact they will die after a few days. I washed/dried sheets and blankets and put them into the garbage bags for at least 3 days before using them again and the same for clothes, towels, coats etc. in addition to soaking in the tub each day with the water as hot as I could take it. Take control, don't panic and stay focused on the primary goal.

I used it 3 times and left it on 42 hours the third time. Biting sensations disappeared at hour 21.

Mine were from a dog and (I'm told) self-limiting with a max of 21 days. My symptoms stopped at day 16.

Both kids were cured w/1 treatment of permethrin.

Dog scabies are different than people scabies, but they can tear you up just as bad. Going to post a new subject on this, and tell others what I have learned.

I get to move back into my house before Christmas. Our nightmare is over. I sincerely wish you all the same happy (although financially exhausted!) ending.

Well thats great. I think mine were from animals too. My family is doing great no breakouts just some itching which is normal. We should consider that we are very lucky to have this nightmare end cause some people arent as lucky and have to deal with this for a long time. I will not say that I am cured until all the itchng is gone although I think we are cured cause we havent had any signs of reinfestation.

Jeannie I cant talk to her I am way to pissed and I am sure everyone thinks this because what mother wouldnt care, but really if you knew how many times she has hurt me you would think different, its just hard to understand how mothers can hurt their children but it does happen. Well enough about that my family continues to get better isnt that great? I think we are cured but Im really scared to say it so Ill just wait a while longer no breakouts I know thats a good sign. No burrows but we never seen any of those anyways. I was woundering when you had them did you ever see burrows? I thought it might be something with the animal scabies that you cant see the burrows. I am really leaning toward animal scabies in my case and I think people need to know that they can infest humans. They even said that at the hospital I went to.

-The only place I ever saw any burrows was on my EYELIDS!(Lord have mercy!) The skin is much thinner on peoples eyelids, and I have really BIG eyes anyway, and that is why I think that I could see them (no-one else but me could see them), but they were raised, and kind of S-shaped. Those were the only ones I ever saw on any of us, even though my daughter had it the worst. How in the heck I had so bad on my face I may never know.

Got diagnosed last month with scabies, got cream, treated 3 times..worked, Been much less itchy and yes< i've had the bumps and scabs appear from the dead stuff ...but i just noticed a new bump on my scrotum,(which is where they partied before in addition to armpits and legs etc and NO i dont have herpes or any std, i am sure I have been checked it looks like the same zit/bump that I had with the scabies ) I am wondering if i should retreat...I have been very diligent about cleaning and laundry ever since..I just wonder if I should spot treat the area with permethryn as a safeguard.

i been figtting with this nightmare for 11 months now and so far nothing works.
I ve use phermetrin several times, i've taken ivermectin 0,6% oral 1 drop per kilogram like 6 times, despite I was told it is poisoning, i've use as many creams and herbs I have researched on the internet and so far nothing.
I wan to use permetrin 10% if it is possible and do not poisson myself.
please if somebody find a cure for this condition share it with everybody because this is not a personal situacion. Now this is like a pandemic situation and it is very contagious.

Dear Itchy, it depends on how long you have had this and where it might be on your body. I did my treatments as prescribed, every 7 days, but I feel that if you are really infected you should do it sooner. I have done 14 Premethrin 5% treatments. I had gone 4 months before being diagnoised. Do you have it all over and does it feel like things are crawling all over your body, biting you and digging into your skin? If you have these symptoms, you have been infested for a long time. If you do not have these symptoms, you may be new to this. Make sure you clean down your enviroment with bleach and water, faucets, door knobs, cabinet pulls, anywhere you touch.

ALso use the premethrin lice spray to spray your matress, couch, chairs, car upholstery, carpets.I did this every 3 days.

It will depend on how long you have had this, to know exact treatments.

I feel that the premethrin 5% cream works, but you must take a shower first, clean your body of any creams, make sure not to use a shampoo with a conditioner. When you apply the premethrin, make sure it is right after your shower, do not dry off. It helps to have your body damp, make sure you rub this very well into you skin all over, even your hair and face. I put this on my eyelids, make sure not to get into eyes. Inside of the tip of my nose, and inside ears and belly button. Pay attention to the arm pits, base of hair line, elbows, wasteline, knees, feet and hands.

Scabies like warm dark places, folds of the skin.

Good luck I have been scabies free for a few weeks now. Oh Thank God. I thought this nightmare would never end.

I got it about 7 months ago, got rid of it, came back, got rid of it.. or so i thought.. and i woke up and had a little lesion on my finger so i immediately called my doctor. i was a little itchy and felt the crawling again. the other times i used them was a week apart so i think ima do the reapplication 3 days after the 1st one and then again on the 7th day. I have washed EVERYTHING in hot water, applied the cream on me after taking a shower, wiped down everything with lysol wipes, sprayed everything with lysol, and vacuumed constantly. i feel that they are going away but i still wanted the cream even for that one little watery pimple on my finger(lesion bc i always pick and make it worse :/ ) i just would rather be safe than sorry. as of now i have not been itching at all and i just applied it once again about 2 days ago, will reapply tomorrow. i really hope this goes away :( it has changed my mindset forever. and im going to the navy in 6 months i would hate to have it there. or catch it again right before i left.

Dear Itchy, I usually just use a bleach and water solution 1/10 to clean with. If you are getting reinfected there is either something you have not cleaned or someone you are around that may be reinfecting you. Although you vacume, have you sprayed the Lice spray to kill anything living on the upholstery, like couch, chairs, carpets or bedding? If this is only happening on your hands, it might be something you are touching, like the computer, steering wheel in the car, door knobs, cabinet pulls. Don't forget about your toothbrush, it is easy to transmit back to you. I threw out my toothbrush, got a new one, also hairbrush I treated with Lice shampoo and soaked in hot water, then after it dried I sprayed with the Lice Spray 5% premethrin. Clean down you car interior vinyl with bleach water solution. If you have the premethrin 5% cream I would treat my wrists and hands completely. Do not wash hands, this only removes the treatment. Wear gloves as not to get on your private areas. If you have to make sure you wear gloves when cleaning and getting your bedding to the washer.

Scabies can be transmitted by handling money. Alot of cashiers get scabies on their hands from handling money, money is really dirty. Money is made of a like cotton material, just like clothes it can hide scabies, since you can't see them.

It is hard to fight something you can not see.

I did alot of spot treatments and I am still doing them. I have red bumps, no itching or crawling sensations, no biting. But I have noticed that sometimes the bumps come and go. I treat them daily, just to be sure. I do not want to get reinfested.

But if you have new tracks, then you have somehow reinfested yourself. Hard to determine where it comes from. If you work, did you clean your work area. I work in an office and I cleaned my office from top to bottom. Cleaning every surface I could see. Sprayed with premethrin on my desk chair and floor because of the carpet. Sprayed every 3 days. Then after a month did no more cleaning.

Did you clean your phone. Alot of people forget about their car keys also. I wiped them all down with Bleach and water on a damp cloth, make sure not to get to wet or you will ruin them.

When wiping down computer componets, ring out all water to where this is just damp. You don't want the water to go down into your componets. Or you can use alcohol wipes. Go to dollar store.

You can buy lice shampoo and the lice spray, at any drug store or walmart. You need to read the labels. I just bought another batch of lice spray, it said on the cans that it was for bed bugs now. It has the premethrin in it. If you read the lice shampoo, you will see many different kinds, make sure it has premethrins in it. If you do not have carpet or upholstery furniture, bleach and water on your floors, countertops, cabinet pulls. etc. You can spray the area you sit in with the lice spray, this seems to kill them off. I did this every 3 days, for about a month, also did my car and carpet in my car. I don't know if lysol kills them, they are not a germ they are a parasite. I did use lysol for my toilet seat but then changed over to clorox bleach wipes as not to share this with my hub. I bought packages of combs, really cheap ones, used a new comb everyday in my hair. Threw them away, kept some and cleaned with the lice shampoo, soaking over night even for up to 3 days and sprayed with the lice spray after they dried.

If you do not have a plastic zip cover for your matress and pillow, get one, they have them at Walmart. About $8.00 for the matress cover,$6.00 for the pillow, this is so much easier to clean down with the bleach water solution, let dry. Make sure you wash your blankets and sheets everyday. Hopefully you have white sheets, bleach in every wash load.

I remember that I was so desperate that I just laid on the floor with a blanket and pillow. Crying myself to sleep.

You can beat this, if I can, you can. It takes a lot of work cleaning. Get rid of bath mats and fabric shower curtains, use only a plastic shower curtin. Make sure that you use disposable rubber gloves to clean with. I have gone through a lot of bleach and my water bill this month has more than doubled. But I am finally seeing the light.

The main thing to remember is this, clean your whole place with bleach with gloves on. Then once you have everything you have touched clean. Take a shower do not dry off, while wet rub into your skin the premethrin really well, make sure you do your face, ears, belly button, scalp, the inside tip of your nose, eye lids, and pay close attention to your arm pits, waist line, elbows, knees, wrists, inbetween fingers and toes. RUB IN REALLY GOOD, take your time. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT STEP, my doc said to just apply this from my neck down, Read the instructions, it even says to leave on for at least 14 hours, I think If you do on a weekend and you are not working, leave on for 24. This is what I did the last time I treated. I had crusted scabies in my hair. I still have bumps at the nap of my neck, but I think this is just some of the post scabies coming to the surface.(Dead ones). I have been a few weeks now with no biting, crawling sensations or things digging deep within my skin and no new track marks. THANK GOD!

If you have new track marks, then you are still infested. After doing the treatment, you will still itch. I know this is not comfortable. This is a side effect of the Premethrin 5% cream. It even tells you in the instructions. My first relief from itching came from doing the dog, lyme-sulfur dip. I rubbed this into my skin left on for 4 days, showered and reapplied for another 4 days, I was stinky. But no itching.
