If you have used permethrin and it did not work, chances are it will not work for you and will only cause the scabies to spread looking for food. Possibly to your hands, face, ears as it has done in others

Once scabies are resistant to perm, it may be pointless to use it.

Maybe a different treatment will work.

In some cases though some people report adverse reactions to permethrin very similar to scabies even though they are cured.

If you have only done one treatment, a second may be advised as close to the 7 day period as you can.

You have to decide if they are resistant mites or not. If they are resistant, I would not do a second treatment.

Some people insist on doing spot treatments and that is guaranteed to not work and make them spread. Follow the directions.

Personally, for non resistant scabies, I recommend minimum 3 treatments within 9 days just to be sure they are all gone because if they manage to survive and develop resistance, perm will likely never work again.

Also, be thorough with your treatment, do not miss any spots under nails, cuticles areas on back between toes, your anus, soles of feet etc.

The directions say not to use on your head, but I think you should apply to your whole head including face and scalp, also use a cue-tip and apply in ears.

This may be extreme, but ask yourself. "Can I live with scabies the rest of my life?"

I would be more worried about using borax than permethrin.
The side effects of using borax are listed as being more severe than almost any other scabies treatment.

Please stop using this cream. it does not work and its poison, it will make you sick. i bet i went through 30 tubes , going to different drs to get more, it made me deathly ill . so not worth it when it does absolutely nothing. dont harm yourself worse along the way to getting better. i realized i was committing suicide. i also burnt the lining in my eyes using 35% peroxide and it tore up all my new furniture. but its great to take a bath in, kills all the fungi... i also have a lung disease where i sprayed outdoor bug sprays in closed areas. yes, i was desperate and lost weeks of sleep, been admitted to psych ward . but i showed them. first be positive and have fith in God even if you have never had it before. this is nothing but a trick of satans. and i know this now. pls dont poison your system, im still trying to rid my body of all of that . my mother still suffers. but she is hard headed and will not listen. the more chemicals you use the more your body and the air you breath will irritate . STOP using chemicals. use organic soaps and lotions. hold peroxide in your mouth each day while bathing and then brush your teeth . the longer you hold the peroxide the better and not only that it whitens your teeth and it is a debrieder

Okay,if everyone will see this?but I recommend scabies killer! You can order it from www.scabieskiller.com/
The reason why?is that it's a bunch of oils. They get deep in you're skin right away! It works amazingly! An if it doesn't for you? You can get a refund!

I have scabies and im 23. I just found out 3 days ago. My girlfriend is started to bet it too. We went to and urgent care because i thought i was allergic to her cat. Come to find out its scabies.it covers.my body all over my legs, arms, thighs and now my sides and stomach. Its not crazy bad i guess but enough to really keep me up at night itching. The doctor said i must hav got it from the new apartment we live in that had a couch that we decided to keep. Im worried because i was young and stupid and didnt read the tube of the cream and the urgent care doctor didnt even take the time to explain it i guess because i started crying when she told me what it was. Either way i have used this cream twice a day real thick on my skin some times 4 times a day for 3 days and so has my girlfriend. I was getting bumps and itchy still and i didnt know anything about how u can still have effect even after the mites are dead so i thought i had to keep using it till the itching stoped and the bumps. Will we be ok? Is there anything we should do? other then not use the cream for a good week? Please help. Thank you

Not very good, but maybe will work. If you scroll up, you will see doesn't work for most.
Doctors don't seem to be able or knowledgeable to help in most cases. There are different cures for this, but it may be easier the sooner you act.
Don't take prednisone. It makes it worst. Good luck, God bless, and let us know if you get over this quick. I'm hoping you do, fast.

Wait at least a week to use the perm again, and also i read your supposed to apply to cool dry skin. I didnt know this and I applied after a shower all 3 times its ok to take a shower before just wait a little while after and let your skin cool down. We are doing good after our treatments my itching has calmed down alot its normal to itch up to a month and even longer in some cases its also normal to still get a few bumps just try not to freak out and keep an eye on the bump. I read that if it goes away in 3 to 4 days then its probably post scabies if it spreads then your probably reinfested. I am so glad I stuck with not over treating I wanted to treat over and over but I stopped myself. The permethrin 5% is toxic and shouldnt be used over and over although some people do. This is one of the hardest things I ever dealt with. Its an emotional rollercoaster. My son had it all over and his skin is as smooth as a baby now and I couldnt be happier. This has really changed my life. I dont think the same at all. I feel like I just want to help people get through this like everyone on here helped me.
My itching was calming down after the first two treatments. but its been about 8 days since my last treatment, and im starting to see a few more bumps and im starting to itch again. they appear in the typical 4 bump pattern. should I be conceared and retreat myself? also, when you treated yourself, did you do it from the neck down? it looks like I've had scabies marks on my face, and it may even feel like its in my head. ive been feeling itching on my head and face but I cant figure out if its all just out of my imagination, a placebo effect if you would.

Someone please help, i've been searching for answers on google for the last week but haven't found an answer!!!!!!! I have scabies but its not extremely bad, does the severity of the infestation depend on how much permethrin you use? I'm thinking i may only need one treatment because its not extremely severe yet. When having the cream on could I wear clothes to bed or would most of the cream just get on the clothes causing the permethrin not to work properly.(I live in a house full of women:-/)

What you are experiencing sounds just like me. Did treatment twice and got new bumps but like you had itchy face and scalp so did another treatment and covered scalp and face and thought dont freak out if you see new bumps. unfortunately again about a week after treatment got new bites again I knew they were bites cos like you they were in a line and had holes and bled when scratched. I dont feel like Im ever gonna get rid of it permethrin is useless in my opinion and if all these so called organic things work why are people still retreating and retreating and not getting cured. I am gonna have to use it again cos dont seem like theres any alternative and cant get iverctermin in uk.

Use 2 7 days apart. Apply it from your scalp to your toes, don't miss a spot! Take a shower dry off wait 15 min, apply cream, wait 15 min put clothes on, go to sleep leave med on for 12-15 hours. Clean, clean then bathe and repeat in 7 days. The reason why you have to do 2 is because the prem does not kills the eggs. Good luck. People still get cured from the perm. There are millions of people who get scabies and are fine

Hello to those who are itching crazy because of scabies. Today I went to my doc for the cream, this is like my third time going to the doc asking for the cream. The first time it worked, I applied the cream and took a bath after 14 hours and had a second treatment a week later, and yes there will be more bumps and itching, this will last about 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. It worked for me the first time, but it came back because my sister, nephew and nice had it too, in fact I had scabies because of them. Now it came back and I have to treat myself and my family. Remember to clean the house as well, after treating yourself with the cream.

I am no expert but I have been scabies free for 1 month now and hoping it stays that way. If I were you I would wait a few days until you treat again and remember you will still think your problem has worsened for about three days after you treat yourself and then you should see and feel if your getting rid of them or not. I treated myself 3 times on the first day the third day and then the seventh day I also spot treated myself almost every night. Be sure to put clean sheets on your bed every day always wear plastic disposable gloves when handling dirty sheets or clothing and never touch anything woithout cleaning right after. I didn't think I could have gotten through this without every one on this site everybody is so helpful.
I am not sure if I have scabies or not don't have any tracks as I have seen other people post. Doctor gave medicine for it. My arms have been itching for a while thought it is eczema but not sure . How do I find out if eczema or scabies? It is only itchy on top of both arms, it is not itchy on under part of arms, my skin is real dry on arms and my hand are very dry and crack, split and bleed. How do I find out for sure if I have scabies? I have done 2 treatments 1last night and again tonight. I cleaned sheets in cold water, don't have hot water to washer. Please help if anyone can

I was the same! In fact, my rash on my arms went away, but I am so freaked about scabies (thanks to this forum) that I decided to treat myself and my family anyway, just in case. I cried every day for a month before coming to this decision, it was hard bc we have 4 children, including a 3 mo old infant.
My reasoning is that IF there is a chance this might be scabies, I want to deal with it now before it gets worse.

I don't have a rash just real itchy and dry I have alway had dry skin it is getting worse. The itching in my arms have gotten so bad i make my self bleed and I just don't know what to do. Doctors don't know what it either. He wants me to go to specialist and I can't afford it.

My cousin had severe dry skin & itchiness. All over her body and head. Definitely looked like scabies & was diagnosed as such. She came home & her mom (who used to work in a nursing home & saw scabies many times) told her it was not scabies & instructed her to do oatmeal baths from....I forgot the brand name- and used their lotion, too- it's a popular brand. Anyway, she did & her symptoms cleared up in a month, and it's been years since. She just keeps moisturized. Turns out it was severe eczema.

I will tell you that when I went in to the 7th dermatologist who told me I didn't have scabies (although the 1st one said "possibly" which got it stuck in my head) told me my breasts were just really dry after I told him I felt crawling on them. I hydrated internally with water, and externally with coconut oil & the crawling/itchy feeling stopped- but not on the rest of my body, which is why I'm doing the 2nd round of permethrin tomorrow. The crawling has decreased significantly and pin pricks as well. I almost feel like not doing the 2nd app, but I'm just going to finish it off & leave no room for self doubt.

I have done 2 treatments and I am doing another own day 7 I don't know if it is scabies but I will try anything at this point. I also keep lotion on and put olive oil on after my showers it feels better not sure which is helping . Not as itchy but still a little when it starts itching I put lotion on and it helps . I am not taking any chances I am doing another treatment at day 7 and might do again at day 14 I just want it to stop and not ever come back. I just hope I can't stop it and not have it come back
