before I need to worry about poisoning myself? I've seen different reports that people say you shouldn't use it more than once in a month's time, and others (like Mite Killer) that say use it every 4 to 5 days. I don't want to overdose on this stuff, but I want these mites gone, too.

permethrin is stated to be used twice by most medical professionals.on day 7 and day 14...but if a person is still infested then they can switch to the less toxic sulfur. You make your own choices.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional..always consult a trained medical professional for treatment advice.

my perm papers said twice: 1.day and 7th day

Doctor prescribing it said use second time already on day 2or3.

In real life we ended up using it much more:-(
If I could turn the time back I'd switch to sulfur after 3 times probably.

i made a type-o error.......... day 1 and day 7 is the usual treatment schedule.

but as battle posted..it's used the second and third day by many...and many of the posters have had to use it repeatedly, including myself. I have to admit that, for me, Permethrin seemed to one of the most toxic treatments. It gave the shakes and an ill feeling, especially if I kept it on too long. There are less toxic treatments..like Ivermectin or sulfur.

I don't think it bothers more than about l% of people to any great extent. Mainly it's better to do it twice at the beginning five to seven days apart. It doesn't seem to do the job anymore as a one time treatment. No matter what the tube says. I didn't realize in time that two times seven days apart is way, way, way, way, way, better than two times several weeks apart. Or, say, you like Benzol Benzoate (Ascabiol), whatever you use, it seems like the second treatment will save you a lot of grief. Five to seven days later. And if you space the second treatment too long after, like if you have to go back to the Doctor and get another appointment, it's not like a followup anymore, it's like a single, lone treatment. So two treatments spaced five to seven days is way, way, way different than two treatments too far apart!!!! Unfortunately, this is how it worked for me, I'd do a treatment, then I'd be clear, then a few weeks later, be reinfested. So, I ended up doing Perm six times total,(absolutely no ill effects, no rash, and no cure either). If I'd done my Perm three times five days apart, it would have been three less times, and much more effective. Line it up. Oh, and I'd use a 10% sulfer soap daily to get any stragler hatchees after the treatment for a few weeks, just lather up and bathe with it. The sulfer soap is an extra precaution, but alone it wouldn't really ever get anything, it will arrest them enough though. Oh, to answer your question, I did Perm six times, unfortunately not together enough and no ill effects. If I didn't have a cat who didn't get treated early on, and if my husband (who seems unaffected) was also treated, I don't think I'd have had the problem this turned out to be. No ill effects though from perm. The only ill effects were a nice period of no bumps and no itching.(A little less than 1% of the population is allergic to Chrysanthumuns from which Perm is made, and they might get an allergic reaction). MK, wasn't that Perm the batch you made from Martin's cattle perm and Sesame Oil? Or did you find the same effect from human perm? The cattle perm is kind of not that great. I had to junk mine. That was a $14 "savings" I wasted my money on. Anyway, I never had any weird reactions at all to human Perm, but BB, or Eurax, or whatever you like, it's probably two treatments back to back to get a complete kill. I know that Sulfer works, but I can't use some grease and sulfer on my scalp, so that's out. I can wash with the sulfer soap and do every day and do wash my hair with it. I even like the smell of it. It's 10% sulfer from online, five bars with Sandalwood, and it smells great. Sulfer soap will only kill surface mites, but it can't get a burrower like the sulfer ointment can. But you could also try one perm treatment then go straight to sulfer ointment if you don't have a bad scalp, it would work pretty quick if you get the majority of the burrowers with Perm first. Sulfer is also wonderful for post fungal or post bacterial infections. Very good to end up with sulfer something.

Thanks so much for all the info! I'm so glad I'm not the only one going through this misery, yet I'd never wish this on anyone. Are there local pharmacies or stores that sell sulfur soap, or do I have to get in online? Oh yeah, I'm in the U.S.

There are other soaps containing sulfur but it's not 10%. These are called sulfur lanolin soaps, lower sulfur. Ask any pharmacist for 10% sulfur soap, or call around. If they don't have it in stock they should be able to order it for 1-2 day pick up.

sulfursoap.com is sulfur soap. I bought it and believe it is like another 10% one that I had.

I think you asked somewhere else how to use it.
If your skin can take it then yes just use it like an ordinary soap. As for scabies the twice per day. I also washed my hair with it. Before I had got sulfur for cream I left the soap on my skin, but that dries your skin much worse than cream does.

Beside using sulfur soap and/or cream also moisturize a lot.

I have been using the sulfur soap..I ordered some sulfur ointment and the sulfur you have to mix with vaseline or cold cream... I think that the buggers are gone...but then I might see a new spot so I just keep treating away....Hopefully this will be gone before Christmas...

I've been using sulfur ointment and then started using sulfur powder in lotion twice a day. I've been using both for about a month now. I still see mites being killed daily everytime I apply more lotion. I am about to give up. It doesn't seem like its killing them all or there must be too many now. Any input I appreciate thanks. Starting to feel desperate about it now.

Tick, sulfur doesn't seem to be working for you. I don't know if you have been reading the threads but I got a fungus after scabies. It felt kind of the same but different, more like the biting stinging, itching, crawling where scabies was mostly itching, crawling. Try Nizoral shampoo, ketoconazole, all over for 5-10 mins or any shampoo all with zinc or selenium sulfide or coal tar all over body for 5-10 mins and see if it helps. There is also a selinum sulfide lotion but I didn't need it because I got oral pills. If it's fungus that will help. One guy in the cured thread thought said he thought he was seeing mites, but later said he was actually seeing the fungus.

I've tried perm at least 4 times. I don't understand why the sulfur would not work for me. I'm gonna finish off what I have of it and try perm again I guess. THanks for the info, I'll look into the shampoos and try them see if thers a change.

We've used permethrin cream several times. Our problem was the Doctors diagnosis! My Doc gave me several meds. In case it was excema, or yeast or scabies..but she never bothered to ask if I had a mate or family members to treat! I didn't know what scabies was. So damn her for that. We went weeks without knowing what the hell was going on.

We are finally getting it under control. Washing everything everyday and drying pillows and blankets every day and treating everyone at the same time every time we do it. We've done it as close as 2 days apart with no ill effects. But still YUCK! our problem was ignorance. By the time I knew what scabies actually were...we were well infected for a year! Again...what the hell did I pay a doctor for anyhow? We have cats and dogs but they don't get human scabies according to vets. They get mange. It is thought by some that since scabies can live off the body for about 3 days that it is best to isolate your animals outside for three days. Good luck with that! My animals would die. hehe.
Neem oil stops their reproduction capabilities. Ingesting Garlic and Vitamin B complex (according to my Pharmacist) makes scabies less likely to use you as a host.
Scabies are a complete nightmare. I'm so glad we are getting to the end of it.

How do you accidentally use it for ten days in a row? You should contact your son's pediatrician as soon as possible. The instructions on the bottle say to use it once for 8-14 hours.

The absorption rate (it seeping into your body through the skin) is very low and in all likelihood your son will be fine, does he have any hives now or skin issues?

Bath with Borax. you can buy it at walmart. bottom shelf under the laundry det.About $3 a box It containes a chimical that will help kill the mites And it's safer than alot of the things you keep talking about. I know were talking humans here but I used it to kill the mange my dog had. 50 years ago it was used to do dishes and in our grandparents bath water. at least look it up and resurch it. It's $3 an it's worth a try :)

I got scabies from my job, n I just got diagnosed I didn't know what the hell was going on with me. I felt like I was dirty, but she (my doctor) said It's more common that i thought.

I used the permetherin cream lastnight, I'm still itching n getting bumps so I'm using it again today. Is there anything else I can do to stop this horrible crap from spreading??
