Got scabies and thought it was poison ivy but it was not, Tried the hydrogen peroxide and borox bath and it felt better but did not get better. Read with alarm that many were not getting better after using permethrin 5% creams. Did a little research and read that the permethrin works but the bugs are resistant to it. I went to tractor supply and bought 8 oz bottle of permethrin 10 for $5 and went to the dollar store and bought a bottle of clear hand sanitizer. Emptied half the bottle of hand sanitizer and added 2 oz of the permethrin 10 in and mixed it well. I applied this mixture all over my body 4 xs a day and washed it off the next day. I immediately saw a reduction in bumps and bites and my skin has improved immensely. I will do another in 3 days and that should do it. These are nasty critters and the doctors do not understand the creams are too weak to deal with them. I needed them gone and used this drastic measure and it works, I also mixed 1 oz permethrin 10 to 1/2 gallon sprayer and sprayed all my furniture and also washed my clothes in it. Want to get rid of these evil bugs. Use this system. Be very careful around your cats with it as it is a nerotoxin to kittys so do not spray them directly put them out when you spray the house.

Good luck..

Do you think 10% permethrin is safe? We have no tractor supply around here but Amazon sells it for dogs & cats -- think it's the same as what you tried?

Thanks!

Its strong but what is worse. I have insects crawling on my skin and burrowing down and laying and hatching larvae and eggs. The thought of that makes me want to puke. I am repeating this until I kill them all. If spraying raw gasoline on my skin would kill them I would do it as well. These mites from hell have to have everything you have in your arsenal thrown at them or they will never let up. These home remedies do not work at all and just delay the end result we all want. I almost think that some of these potions feed these varmints .

Good luck and if it stings bad when you put it on, its working.

Sorry, but permethrin is not safe to use on cats. Don't use on cats, please.

For yourself, you can buy Happy Jacks Permethrin Dip, which contains 17% permethrin, plus to contains the PBO (Piperonyl Butoxide). PBO breaks through the insect's defense and its synergistic activity makes the insecticide more powerful and effective.

You can dilute with 60% body lotion to bring it down to about 5%permethrin.(60% body lotion and 40% Happy Jacks Permethrin Dip).

Do not use on dogs at this strength. And do not use at all on cats. Follow the directions exactly, if you are going to use this on your dogs (which will be a must less concentrated mixture).

This is one of the most powerful permethrin products out there and is easy to use full body or for spot treating.

Sometimes, when you buy the 10% permethrin in feed stores or livestock online companies, it does not contain the PBO, which is essential in a cure.

I just found that Happy Jacks Permethrin Dip worked very well. Also, if you can get ahold of ivermectin, use both at the same time for a few weeks, and you should be cured.

I was looking for it on the Happy Jack's website -- is it the Kennel Dip II (8 oz) for $29.00? It doesn't list the ingredients, at least not that I could find. Thx!

Oh, just found on the site that a place not 5 mins. from here sells it so guess I can go look at the ingredients on the bottle. When you say "if you can get ahold of ivermectin..." do you mean the pills the drs. prescribe or the stuff for animals (like cattle) that you pour on? Thx!

Guys, please look at taking TRIPHALA herb and spray your skin (after a hot bath) with Hydrogen peroxide 9% where the itching is. Make a cream with oregano oil.

Larry, You are a genius !!! I went to Tractor Supply today and the Dollar Tree . Thank You for your help. The 5% cream is a joke and is not in a lotion/spray form to use on your chest if you have hair. You also need a second person to apply the cream to your back. Thanks for having a brain and saving us!The doctors have forgotten their oath.

My scabies are gone thankfully after FOUR LONG months.

Keep Spaying your body with bleach/Water/hydrogen peroxide mix. I does work better than anything!

---

Hey everyone - the bleach and water work 100%... Not sure how good it is for the skin, but I am definitely seeing signs of improvement. I did permetherin 3 times and it didn't do much. I did Ivectermin/Stromectol and it helped.

Here is my cure:

Bed bug spray EVERYTHING -- it has permetherin in it. If you have it in your scalp use CVS 1% Lice shampoo. Even spray bed bug spray in a baseball cap and wear it!

Shower every night as hot as you can stand it, dry off and spray with water and bleach solution.
Spray the bed with bug spray, get in bed. Leave Window open to circulate air, fumes I am sure are not good for you.

Wake up, shower and scrub gently with a KITCHEN (yes, I said KITCHEN scrub pad gently to remove dead skin, and dead Scabies and whatever they leave behind), spray again. Spray everything with bug spray and bleach/water solution - wash everything daily.

After a few days you should see some signs of improvement.

This has ruined my summer 2011; I have been in despair... So down over it. Cost $$$ and I have had it since the beginning of May... it's now August. It still continues to be terrible emotionally... I don't understand how in 2011 doctors can't treat us properly.

God knows what all these chemicals are doing to my body, but I was desperate, I am through the worst of it now and my body is healing from red bumps...

The only true cure for Scabies is a prescription from your doctor for Stromectol aka Ivermectin, and the topical Advantix II Blue which is for dogs and has 40% Permethrin. The oral Stromectol dose is based on your weight (230lbs=24mg) on a empty stomach with lots of water every day for 8-days. Likewise rub undiluted Advantix all over your body scalp to soles of your feet two or three times a day for 8-days. Some people leave their infested living space to stay at a different motel room every night to avoid reinvesting themselves, others managed to clean and vacuum enough to create a Clean Space. Follow these instructions and you will be cured once and for all. I am very disappointed the people on this forum are all over the map with recommendations of unproven remedies by creams, oils and soaps. DO NOT BE MISLEAD! The time you waste on these unqualified remedies only serves to allow the mites to reproduce and spread the infestation over your body making you more miserable and the problem harder to cure! Yes, the Stromectol tablets and Advantix II Blue are very expensive but combined they are the only absolute cure! You can buy Advantix II Blue at Petsmart or online at Petmeds.com . This is not a spam, I had a severe case of Scabies and tried most of the remedies mentioned on this forum but they didn't cure me, in fact, I wasted lots of money and my condition became worse. Doctors, even Infectious Dicease Specialists do not know how to cure Scabies. I saw eight doctors and was mislead every time. I am cured and do not need to be here but I want to help you because no one helped me!

Hey Larry, the permethrin 10 at the tractor store -- is there a brand name? Would it be in the horse section or some other livestock section?

Hey Robert -- so there's no brand name on it? It just says "Permethrin 10"? Local tractor store just has a bunch of high school kids working there who have no idea what anything is or where it is. Thx!

Thanks! Daily for 8 days! No way! More like once a week for 2 or 3 weeks, like the human stuff.

Each person has to decide for himself or herself how much risk they are willing to take.

Scabophobia's caution seems sensible to me.
