I have obtained some veterinary liquid ivermectin. I have calculated that the dosage to treat myself (170 lbs.) is 3.5cc or 3.5ml if you prefer. Does anyone know if this is the correct amount or am I using to much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is the 1% injectible ivermectin, the dosage instructions comes with the package. 1 cc for every 110 pounds. so you would take about 1.7 cc or 2 cc. 3.5 cc is double the regular dosage of 2 micrograms per kilogram of body weight.

I appreciate the reply. I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I have 7cc total that I am going to take orally. I don't have the orginal bottle. I based my calculation on the dose that would be given to a 50lb. dog. Does this make a difference?

I found a dosage chart for dogs on the website for Cornell University http://www.vet.cornell.edu/maddiesfund/shelte...
According to it I should take 2ml. Many thanks to Joe for his reply, he probably saved me from having a bad time of it. If anyone knows of another way of figuring the dosage I would appreciate any help that you can offer.

I would take 3ml according to that chart. I didn't buy ivomec at the feed store yet, hope it has a dropper with measurements. Cursed, from all I've read here, one dose will not work. My doc gave me one dose and relief only lasted 3 days. I never had much itching, maybe because I never scratch, learned my lesson via a bout with poison oak, but I know when bugs are living, breeding, feeding, having a grand old time in and on my skin.

Thanks buggie. Use a syringe to measure the ivermectin. I'm going to take 2.5 to 3ml at a time. My vet believes in using a higher dosage then what is reccommended for animals that he treats. He usually knows what he is talking about and I value his opinion highly.

you need a 3 cc syringe....it ned to be drawn from the bottle as it is presented as an injectable.

I have been using injectable iver orally for my dogs for some time. I use a small medicine syringe, the type used to give babies and animals medicine orally, and cut a small slice in the rubber stopper of the iver bottle with a clean razor blade. The tip of the syringe can be inserted into the slit and the medicine drawn out. If the slit is small none of the iver will spill, and the rubber stopper will close up just like it does around a needle puncture. I have tried using a fine tipped subcutaneous syringe (insulin syringe), but the propylene glycol that is used for the medicine's base is so thick that it takes forever for the syringe to draw.

Let me make the dosage a little easier for 1% ivermectin use in humans.

1.5 cc per 110lbs of body weight every 10 days for 30 days (a total of 3 treatments). This dosage is usually more than sufficient even in high load cases. Combine with sulphur soap for that 30 days if your that worried, but dont overdose on the ivermec

I was just reading about side effects of Ivermectin. They are pretty scary -- has anyone experienced any side effects? Just want some REAL LIFE data on this.

How many times is it safe to use?

Any info would be appreciated.

Yes and it does not feel good. This is why I tell people to talk to a Doctor. I am sure if you have a weak heart Ivermectin can be deadly.

Cindy,
I used horse paste and or magicpharma iver daily for a week, then every three days for far too long. It made me sleep real good- if I took it during the day I was groggy. The only other side effect I experienced was one episode of hot flashes and twitchy arms, and that was after repeated doses.

Is it possible to give ivermectin by mouth along with doxycycline to cure (or possibly kill heartworms)? My dog has heartworms and her vet will not follow up on this she and her brother are on doxycycline 100 mg twice daily, prescribed by their veteranian.I have read this is possibly an effective treament. We can't afford the very costly treatment to kill the heartworm and I've read that this injection is very painful for the dog and life threatening. I also need to know the know the proper dosage for them , he weighs 55 pounds , and she weighs 45 pounds. Any information will be appreciated . Thanx
