I'm curious if anyone has used oil of oregano? I know someone who was cured of horrible skin stuff; through that I was told to research the oil of oregano, and when I did, I found lots of claims like this one:
<<Oil of Oregano is a natural cure for scabies. Place a drop of oil on the pimple/rash in the morning and at night. Repeat treatment for at least three days and it will kill the scabies, leaving a scab.>>
http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles...

SO I bought some at the health food store and tried it. I has only been a short time but I really think it worked...
and it's safe, so I read it's fine to use it a few times per day if you want. Put it all over, put some in your shampoo etc. But beware - IT STINGS. Just at the beginning tho.... be sure you mix it half and half (at least) with olive oil or aloe gel... and don't put it on a baby this strong. They say just rub a diluted oil version into babies soles of feet.

if you try it and it works, let me know. If were all cured I'll try to come back later and post here again.
Prior to this we had been fighting scabies for about five months - using permethrin and ivermectin over and over again plus lots of other stuff... nothing ever did more than give us a few days relief, and I was getting really worried about ODing in the poison stuff like perm etc.

-Oil of Oregano works much better for Scabies if you eat it! Place three drops under the tongue, two, to three times a day for as long as needed. This was also mentioned to me by an Herbalist, but we never got around to trying this one before we were cured. This is one of the top five herbal treatments recommended for Scabies. Taken orally over time, it will be evenly distributed by your body over time. Oils are not that effective when applied topically. The female mites and eggs are in between the last layer of skin, and the tissue. That is why you need something to inside and out. I wouldn't count on an oil as an effective topical. But using the herbs internally HAs worked for people.

LONG STORY, try to make it short. The oregano oil works well for fungus and secondary stuff. But IMO it didn't have the power to kill the scabies.

In the end I believe it was the SULPHUR that killed them. We ordered powdered sulfur online then mixed it into vaseline and wore that all over...for awhile. We also rotated with nix during this time, occasionally.
By the time we knew for sure the scabies were dead (weeks+) we had dried our skin out terribly with the sulfur and then had to go through a healing phase on that, vitamin E lotion helped. But thank God, the scabies are GONE and have been gone for months now.

don't put off trying good old fashioned sulfur - make a 10% recipe in vaseline.

-These things were all mentioned to me to take internally to cure an active Scabies infection...Goldenseal, Turmeric, Neem leaf, Garlic, Oregano oil, and Sea Salt. Don't load up too much though, it does not make it work better or faster. You can buy iodized sea salt at Wal-Mart right next to the regular table salt. This is food grade sea salt, and can replace your table salt.

PS - you also need to add the sulfur to your shampoo! This is really important, unless you're bald. And we were using the nix (or kroger) version of lice shampoo/conditioner every 14 days with the sulfur and thats when things finally changed. But we weren't sure, so sent samples to university entomolyy dept. Check with your local university entomology dept and see if they accept samples, skin scrapings etc for free and tell you what's in there. We were still super itchy, and I thought we skill had bugs but they told me it was just fibers ... apparently getting into our trashed and dried out skin..... once we stopped the sulfur and used lotion, itch went away.

i tried the oregano oil internally but it was making me so ill I couldn't function, like a bad flu - probably die-off from something else - I couldn't continue it because i have to work. I'm sure it's a good thing, long term, but I don't have the ability to be down and out at this time.

-The sublimed sulfur powder mixed with vaseline does work, but it can cause severe skin problems and reactions. If you HAVE to try it...Apply head to toe for three nights in a row-wear eight hours each time-repeat in two weeks. This treatment is recommended for women who are pregnant because of the toxicity of other topicals. You can buy the sublimed powder at many pharmacies. It is commonly used for severe acne.

Someone once said to me...ALL of the treatments work...People are either being reinfested, or having secondary infection problems that can mimic symptoms of active scabies infections. These infections can be much more serious than scabies.

Wow, I've never heard of the oregano oil causing these symptoms; maybe you really DID have a bug-no pun intended. The free scraping tip is one of the BEST suggestions that I have EVER heard on this forum. At least a person could find out what they have or do not have for sure.-Trying to guess makes things sooo hard.

-By the way Mange, this was for you. If you use the vaseline head to toe without the sulfer, the mites will begin to BITE and dig in within about an hour, all over at the same time; so don't forget the sulfer if you use the SUFFOCATION method. Vaseline and saran wrap is one of the BEST spot treatments ever! A little activity in one spot at a time is not so bad. It does work.

im going to post this! this is what the ethical team(who i orderd my oragano oil from)wrote to me about using it for scabies...we're glad you've received your order.

Oregano oil has been used for scabies in the past & we suggest just a
few drops two or three times daily i.e morning, afternoon & evening.

You should see results rather quickly though for some it may take more time.

We believe that "conditions" such as scabies are actually symptoms.
With this in mind candida albicans may be the true culprit.

Unfortunately we haven't been able to find any formal scientific
evidence on the effects oregano oil has on scabies.

Please bear in mind many scientific studies are undertaken by large
pharmaceutical companies hence there is no initiative to reveal the
true healing powers of natural products.

According to us & a few of our consumers it's best to apply topically
& consume internally.
