May 2012- we had our roof blow-vacced after a storm. Detritus was coming down through small gaps in ceiling where light fittings were. I recall brushing tow small clear bugs off right arm. Scalp itchy, had shower, thought nothing more of it.
June 2012- extreme itching by this stage with 'the works' in symptoms. Went to a couple of docs before being diagnosed w/scabies. Was already treating myself with perm cream as I'd googled the symptoms.
July 2012- extreme allergic reactions, treating body but mot scalp as warned by doctor.
August 2012- using lice treatments on scalp and perm on body. No improvement.
September 2012- one memorable day where I was being bitten so badly all over at same time, almost fainted in the street while walking to corner shop one day. Very extreme allergic reaction. Like measles, cherry-red reaction all over body, like measles only worse.
October-ish I found this forum. Had been treating incorrectly and bad advice from doctor. Now I'm reducing numbers thanks to these threads and hope to be cured soon.

Treatment is going ok. I wash sheets everyday in borax hot water dry full cycle, vacuum, spray lysol, take a break usually stay in one spot the majority of the day as to not contaminate to much. I have a path I walk and vacuum and spray down. I am on Permethrin applied first dose of 60g all over body neck down last monday, tomorrow I do my second dose and will apply on scalp and face after I shave my head :-(. It is weird, I am not itching at night or during the day but I have two spots of bumps like 4 or 5 that popped up, no itch but they are still there. My optimism is positive, I have a derm appointment tomorrow morning to discuss some concerns that I have with treatment. How is everything going for you?

Oh! You sounds same as me. Only have one chair I sit on, a very hard plain one. Perm everywhere on you constantly, even daily as I was advised by doc. Borax in/on everything. My doc said to use perm daily. Yes it wrecks my skin but they're going. Skin and scars can be repaired later. Main thing is to kill these little fackers.

Yeah pretty standard treatment, I think the hardest part is the environment factor I mean if these bastards died within 2 minutes then everyone would be better but sh*t these little f*ckers stay for a while, life has changed for me drastically this year I had never heard of scabies only scurvy had someone told me that I would be battling this I would have said your crazy!!! Luckily many many people are cured of this and I'm hoping I can be one of those lucky people! What do you do about your carpets? Dirty clothes? What's your daily schedule like? Feel free to email me anytime!

Hi Kev, thats the important point: if you miss just a couple then they re-multiply back again. These fackers are hard wired for SURVIVAL. The average person has only 12-20 active mites on their body at any one time, but they breed prolifically for the next generation, laying up to 100 eggs a month then they die. There are literally 1000s waiting to hatch by the time you're diagnosed. 90% of eggs die.

I think I had heard the word scabies before this. It was something I associated with really skanky people. I didn't really know what it was, guess I thought it was a skin disease but didn't know they were living insects/arachnids.

Carpets? I moved. Dumped mattresses, German fabric designer lounge, 4 designer armchairs, most of clothes shoes and bags, blankets, doonas, towels rugs mats you name it. I exist on about 1/4 to 1/2 of what I used to have. Now living in tiled house. Moving again soon (though due to a problem with neighbours partying 24/7).

Routine consists of a lot of cleaning, borax in/on everything, washing vaccing +showering. Perm cream, perm spray, perm gel with 20% isopropyl alcohol, surgical alcohol (96%), perm spot-on, antibacterial dish-wash liquid, antibacterial foaming soap, selsun gold, oral ivermectin, dog shampoo, hair and body lice treatments, blow drying hair on hot, etc etc etc etc.

You also need to comb with nit comb 4x daily outside to catch the nymphs, but have never caught a mite in all the time Ive been doing it, as they are under the scalp not on top.

My piece de resistance was tonight- I VACUUMED MY HAIR. Hey, to all of those healty people- see? Chem free! Could do it becuase I cut hair to just above ears now. wouldnt work on longer hair I dont think. Felt good afterwards.

Mine are some type of bird mites most likely D Gallinae and I suspect collembola added into the mix. Yeah I'll email you Kev, cheers

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Leo

You're in a very idealistic mood today, making it almost impossible for you to view loved ones in their true colors. If they've got any faults you won't see them because you'll have blanked them out. This rosy vision of your nearest and dearest is fine if it doesn't last long but it will cause problems if it persists and you continue to brush any problems under the carpet.
