Scared to use horse Ivermectin

OK, a sympathetic doctor has prescribed an Ivermectin regimen based on guidelines from a noted scabies researcher who is the contributor on the excellent medical site uptodate.com . But, since the pills are so expensive, I am considering using the horse Ivermectin paste that several of the forum contributors have posted about.
I went to the local feed store and bought a paste manufactured in the US because of the stringent governmental quality assurance process. I can't being myself to use it, even though I am desperate, b/c of the warnings not to use in other mammals (I know in particular that it can be harmful or fatal for several dog species).
I know I am probably overreacting, because the 1.87% paste is equivalent when weight dosing to the 200 mcg/kg human dose.
Comments? Encouragement? Thanks.

I believe the dose in on of those tubes is for a 1250 lb horse, use accordingly.

I used it. I ate a half of a teaspoon of it and pushed another half of a teaspoon of it up my bum using the tube it came in because it has an insertion plunger. It made my vision weird for about a day then i broke out in a terrible rash. After the rash healed most of the scabies were gone and new bites were likely from re-exposure. Repeat in ten days to kill newly hatched scabies. You'll be fine. Drink water. Do not drink or take other meds within days of using equine ivermectin.

I've used ivermectin horsepaste I bought on eBay (Durvet) about 4 or 5 times now. I had already used Stromectol tablets prescribed by my docs, so I figured that if it's basically the same medicine in it, as long as there are no harmful additives(there weren't), it would react with my system the same, too. I didn't have any bad side effects from the times I took Stromectol, but I was still real nervous about using the generic ivermectin. I shouldn't have worried--nothing happened, except for a few heart palpitations a few hours later, which went away after I took a potassium tablet. But I had that with the Stromectol, too. My husband and son have taken it, too, and had no side effects at all. But I know that everyone's system is different, so some people have had worse side effects than I did.
Nicole's right; it has to be taken with lots of water, and don't drink alcoholic drinks for maybe 24 hours afterward--you might get sick to your stomach. But I WAS able to take my birth control pill a few hours afterward, and my blood pressure pill the next morning. No problems.
