where does YOUR scabies come from?

Hi there, I think you need to consider the possibility that he is the one that gave it to you.
The thing is from what I read about scabies, you can catch it from intimate contact or sharing of towels, prolonged contact not a mere shaking of hands. If you aren't sure then you should be a little pissed off at the possibility that he gave it you. You are innocent, poor you, shit. You didn't ask for this. Just be diligent and you will win. It's hard to be positive but try. I wonder if a vision board with pictures of clear skin would help?
I'm sorry I just don't like it when people are so quick to blame themselves.

As if it wasn't bad enough that my formerly homeschooled child caught scabies before we'd even adjusted to having him in public school, the boy he caught it from completely fits the profile: the family has been homeless, the mother needs dental work she can't afford, and it wouldn't surprise me if they at least get food stamps.

None of that is their fault and it doesn't make me think of them as "dirty" or "trashy" but I know other people do. The boy showed a lot of class in letting ds1 know right away before any of us had symptoms.

The problem is that I got too cocky about it and thought I knew everything there is to know about parasites after dealing with head lice and pinworms so I told him we couldn't afford a doctor, did a perfunctory google search, tossed him the bottle of tea tree oil and said to use what he needed and not worry too much about making sure we had enough to last the rest of the month.

By the time I decided we'd need a script perm (or a friend in Canada, lol), I KNEW we'd infected at least my kids' partmers, but I still couldn't bring myself to say the word "scabies" and kept asking dd, "Can't we just say your brother brought 'some friends' home from school and that we were pretty sure they weren't going to go away until we saw a doctor?"

"MUTH-errrr! Then people will think you're talking about SHAWN! I'd die if my friends thought SHAWN was living with us!"

Shawn is another one of ds's friends who is, I guess, worse than scasbies.

But the stereotype doesn't work because the only reason nobody caught it from us at Park Day or another homeschooling event was because I couldn't get the time off of work thst month, lol.

I also have scabies. I have a friend who likes to visit from time to time and she isn't the cleanest person around nor is her car very clean. We went to lunch and I of course rode in her vehicle, I noticed she was scratching but then again it's nothing unusual for her. A few days later I am itching all over and it is getting worse. I went to the Dr. and he said I have scabies. It's a horrible itch that will not go away. I have the permethrin lotion and havce used it laready they also gave me Atarax, which is like Benadryl for the itching, but it makes me very sleepy. I wish that there had been better information out there about scabies then maybe I would have known better than to go getting into her car and haveing her in my house.

There is nothing to be ashamed about here. You could have gotten it from anywhere like we did! It doesn't just come from "dirty" people. My son (more than likely) caught it from his old boss who is rode around with in her car (for work). She wasn't a dirty person at all. Neither is my son. In fact we all shower daily and my boys at least twice a day every day! Scabies actually prefer a cleaner host as opposed to a dirty one (if they can find one).

I also firmly believe that a lot of people get a secondary reaction/skin problem, which results in red itchy bumps, due to all the treatments that we all use to try to get rid of our scabies. I know I have anyway.

The perm and the iver can cause skin reactions that make you think you still have scabies when in fact you are just having a reaction to the medication (poison) you are putting on and into your body.

The last dr I saw (and who seemed to be the most knowledgeable so far as she herself has had scabies in the past!!) told me to STOP with the treatments because I was hurting my body (skin) more than helping it at this point. She told me that my breakouts were a result of all the stuff I was doing to myself and I was actually "causing" these new breakouts because of over treating. I have been having allergic reactions to either the iver, perm, or any number of other things (or all mixed together) and that as long as I kept up all the treating - I would continue to breakout.

I have to say that since I saw her last week and haven't done anything else to my body, my bumps are coming less and less now. My itchiness is less and less. Tomorrow will make two weeks since my last treatment of anything. We'll see what happens at that mark. But where I was waking up every morning with what appeared to be hundreds of new "bites" and lots of itching - and every single evening I was breaking out in even MORE of them and ithcing to the point that I was clawing myself raw....NOW I'm only breaking out a little bit here and there and always in the same spots and the itching is not ever getting out of control.

So, take heart and have hope! Do you think you caught it early? I really also believe that THAT can make a big difference too.

P.S. On a side note.... I am still doing lots of laundry. Making sure my clothes are constantly washed and washing my bedclothes if not daily then every other day. I do still have borax in my carpets and am careful with everything. I also still have my windex with the ammonia-D!:-)

God Bless

r u kidding me? i had scabies w/out knowing what i had for 3 months- maybe more. reluctant to seek medical attention cuz i had no money, no job, no insurance. i was semi-homeless at the time.
soon i got a home. then from research i had time to do cuz the time-consuming life-style of being homeless was in the past, i realized i had scabies, went to a low-cost clinic immediately.
i was billed $20 for an office exam. i used permethrin 5%- a perscription which cost $40- i had to earn in a degrading way, it worked though, along with careful hot water- hot drier washing (more money spent...).
meanwhile, 2 permethrin treatments, excruciating amounts of laundry, obsessive cleaning & a month later my permmeth/cleaning/laundering paid off i was "CURED".
a few days after i was "CURED" i did the STUPIDEST thing- i trusted a 22 year-old man id had sex w/ back in the dark days when i didnt know what i had. id told him to get treated when i was diagnosed.
he called me and he lied of course, he told me he had never had any symptoms. i was re-infested cuz i had sex w/ him again. DUH!!! what an idiotic SUCKER...
so i bought neem oil, tea tree oil & grapeseed oil as a carrier cuz i only had $20. getting more perm. cream would be $60, id have to either earn more money, or go in the pharmacy & hold a weapon to the pharmacists head. i opted for the non-violent plan of get what i could w/$20.
at this point maybe some of you wonder where you got scabies- well, just imagine the number of people out there in my situation that decide its just too expensive, etc.to get treated. so they walk around infested, doing nothing about it, spreading it to you, your kids from public toilets, laudromats, bus/subway seats, movie theater seats, parks, zoos, museums, court houses, libraries, fast-food places, rental cars, we homeless/poor may even go into expensive stores, try on a few things that you may then try on or buy, we may stay in hotels- i stayed in free comp. rooms- luxurious rooms in atlantic city casino hotels- Trump Taj Mahal, Bally's, and Tropicana while i was infested before i knew what i had & couldn't afford to get diagnosed.
the casinos gave me free room offers via email, i used free room offers to get off the streets for a night, sat on the chairs and comforters and pillows in the rooms, naked too, those things rarely if ever are washed or cleaned in any way, i know ive worked as an hotel maid. from what i understand you can even get scabies from a remote control, or a keyboard, ATM's, ticket kiosks... better start wearing rubber gloves.
or, maybe its time to pressure your legislators for free medical care for all who need it, at least care for acute tranmissable diseases and stuff like scabies, lice, etc. dont you think? or does it not bother you that you or your kids can get scabies, lice, etc. from someone who didnt have $60?
back to the oils i bought w/$20- i mixed 1/3 oz. neem oil, 1 oz. tea tree oil & 4 oz. grapeseed oil. its keeping them really minimal but after a month of putting it on my entire body 2,3, sometimes 4 times a day, i sometimes get a new pustule and some very very minor itching. i am going to keep using it, will hopefully be "CURED" soon.
does anyone have instructions for treatment using just neem diluted in something else?
i have only about 2/3 oz neem, no money & limited ability to do laundry left so make it good... no buying more anything! no more money got that?
plus i only have access to a shower stall- so no plans involving "take a bath..."
here is what i have to work with: 2/3 oz. of pure cold-pressed neem oil. 4 oz. of grapeseed oil. 16 oz. of corn oil. 16 oz. of 70% rubbing alcohol, dye and scent free laundry detergent, average shampoo, average liquid soap, ajax dish soap and a shower stall w/ hot and cold running water. thats IT, unless i earn some more money or someone gives me something for free. please help me!!!

Go to any Planned Parenthood office. Sliding scale, you make zero money, you pay zero money. Tell them you were exposed to scabies by intimate contact and you are itching like mad. They should give you the permethrin, ask for 2 tubes.

omg!!! good call brother!!! i had not even thought of using planned parenthood for this- i have used them for gyne exams, pap smears, b.c. and lots and lots and lots of std testing, but it never occured to me that they would treat me for scabies or give me perm cream for free-

the low cost clinic i went to gave me a script for 1 60 g. tube w/ 1 measley refill and sent me out into the world to find the cheapest pharmacy on my own, which at $20 per 60gram tube i think the pharm i was lucky enuf 2 search out did me pretty good.

the low cost clinic told me nobody would give me the perm cream for free- or even at a discount. no matter how poor or contagious or itchy i am.

so i called my county health department communicable disease dept and like pestered them for 3 days until they let me talk to the epidemiologist- i begged for a way to get free or low-cost perm cream and was told "not available anywhere- you gotta pay for it.full price. case closed"

so i hit the street and hustled up some dough. and was so lucky to find this one pharmacy who was so cool that they sell the same tube of perm for $20 that sells at every other pharm. for $30-$40 and i got the refill then too.

i called the dr. for one more refill a couple of weeks later- and she gave me 1 more script for 1 more tube which i paid $20 for also, but i gave that to a kid i know i infested back when i didnt know what i had. i felt so sorry for him and guilty, u know.

ok- and i know ive seen scabies listed as a sexually trasmitted disease on the CDC website so planned parenthood should care, right? i will keep you "posted" with a post to let eveyone out there know if they actaully will give me free perm cream or even ivermectin or like the other public health places, just send me out into the world w/ a script.

p.s.- the low-cost clinic i went to where i was diagnosed and treated was on a "sliding scale" too and they slid me a bill for $20 for the exam, based on my income which was $0 and slid me out the door w/a prescription for perm cream in my hand.

well no scabies for me. thank God. I went thru all the trouble, panicking after reading all this and comparing my "sores" with the scabie photos.
I didn't have it. I even took ivermecticn, ordered drugs from Canada. Unbelievable.
I did everthing, changed sheets every night. Went on for at least 2mos. Finally got diagnosed and I had staph. it's gone now because I had to take penicillin for 10 days but no more scabies and never had them.
Imagine that? I practically force my Gen Practitioner to prescribe the iver and prem., It was because of all this stuff I read I was sure I had it. I am glad that I waite the 3mos to see the Dermatologist and am happy now, a couple thousand dollars poorer, but happy anyways.

Sounds to me like you are a young student (high school or younger). I would inform the school nurse - they are professionals, who won't judge or divulge where the got the info - the nurse, if doing her job, will then run a school-wide inspection. If you have it, and some of your friends - it has likely spread far and wide within your school.

In any event - scabies is indeed very frustrating, and can cause depression. But, do not take it personally, and do not go overboard blaming yourself - you didn't invest this infection, it is extremely widespread.

Just do what you can to rid yourself of it, and find an anonymous way to warn others around you.

What on earth should i do? if my best friend gets it she will know its from me n tell everyone :( i dont wanna lose all my friends why is this happening to me!?
i figure i have 2 choices;
1. just dont say anything and let them all get it and possibly be hated and blamed for the whole thing.
2. Tell my friends and just explain that its not my fault and advise them to all go to the doctors even though they could go mad at me.
Can anybody give me advice on wat to do?
please i feel so guilty and awful and depressed and this is not normal for me but i feel suicidal because just the sheer fear of them taking it the wrong way or hating me or telling everyonejust scares the shit out of me.

The US health system is horrendous. Simply no concept of the benefits of a healthier society through subsidized health care.

Anyway - for low cost permethrin treatment, you may consider going to pet shops - they stock shampoos for treating pets for ticks/fleas, which contain 1% permethrin (read the labels).

Yeah, its 1%, not the 5% in the prescription strength stuff, but you get more like 16 ounces for five dollars, instead of 1 ounce for $20...

It is also easier to spread and cover your whole body with the shampoos than with the creams.

Okay, in 1997, I was hanging out with some kids in Maryland who had partied with some kids in Penn. who said one of their friends had scabies.
Lol. At the same time, my brother was at a job in Mexico. He came home to my parent's house. It could have been either of these two events initially.( for me )
I got itchy around this time.
Gave myself a flea bath for animals and called it a day. I don't remember itching that badly again until I moved to Florida.
Stayed in a 'group home' with people from New York. The apartments were pre-furnished.
My boyfriend at the time, was from Pennsylvania and admitted to "having scabies" in the past, "but no signs of it since the lotion."
I worked with immigrant children around this time as well, and I remember the administrator telling me "not to let them touch you."
I am quoting this because it is spooky.
I have no idea where it came from in the first place, but have had two "attacks" since 1997 which pretty much destroyed my life and sanity.
I went to a dermatologist, while having no insurance and paid full price in cash to be given some uber-strong antihistamines which doubled as an anxiety medicine.
The problem was not solved, but I was sedated for the next year of my life, so I did not care as much about the itching.
I would like to scream at that doctor right now and demand my life back. I believe my problem would have never gotten as bad if he took me seriously and treated me for scabies. I did not have the money to return to see him for a follow up. I think this is the case with the wide-spread problem. No one has the money or resources to really take care of it with trial and error.
I told the doctor I knew what allergies I had, and I don't have sensitive skin. I knew something was wrong and they did not listen to me.
And no one will listen to a raving lunatic who is always talking about 'bugs crawling all over them.'

It is a long and painful road to go down. Relationships will be ruined.
And I don't think there is an answer.
I also have a theory that it is pretty much everywhere. And I don't want to get Biblical, but, it seems like pestilence to me!
lol.( it's not really funny.)
The Upper East Side in New York had what they thought was a 'comeback' of "beg bugs" from international travel. But, with my research, I have found out it's just scabies. That was over two years ago. And everyone is worried about the fucking "flu"??? This is a pan-problem. No one talks about it. It is taboo, it is misunderstood. I think the government should look into research for it. Help us boost our immunity to it. The stress is enough to give you a heart attack. What the hell, really.
Once you have it once, it is really easy to get reinfected. You can get rid of it maybe, but you are more likely to get it again in the future if exposed.
I have been BEATEN down by this a couple times now.
I just took my second dose of ivermectin.
( Thanks to this site. And I am praying and kind of don't believe in God. That's how desperate I am.)
I don't see how that will help.
Even if I do get rid of it, I will just get re-infected by these things:
People
Love
Hugging
MY CAR...( not mentioned much in this forum, but true )
The Remote Control
The key board
My coat
Hanging my coat next to the wrong person's coat at the Opera.
Sounds like mental illness???
We need immunity.
That's what we need.
They won't die. I like hearing about immunity. Some people aren't as susceptible, right?
The body and mind have amazing powers to heal themselves, right?
I can't even begin to tell you what I have done to try to get rid of this.
I have done everything, everything, everything listed on this site. I feel the same way as everyone on this site.
THIS IS CONTINUED....

I have not heard of anyone being completely cured, though.
Has anyone been cured?
Please do not respond if you are a "newbie." I can't deal with it. Seven years at least here. Off and on.

I agree its a pandemic. If you fog your car, seatbelts, house with best yet by cedarcide.com you won't spread it or reinfect yourself. I take my personal sprayer with me to work, movie theatres, everywhere and am 100 percent confident that I am not spreading it. I was contemplating suicide last november before I found the product. It saved my life. My grown son and his friends bought it for me on credit cards. I was near homeless and spent thanksgiving day doing laundry in the laundrymat. Please believe me. I'm not selling the product. Ask for danae at cedarcide. Btw I'm selling my old car and I poured best yet on the drivers seat and carpets. The other big thing that saved my sanity is drying clothes bedding on the hottest hottest dryers for 2 solid hours.
