I almost a year ago come September I had finally been diagnosed and rid myself of scabies. Soon after I was free of bumps and itchiness. Was very careful to clean my home exactly as instructed. I even left the home for a week to go on vacation! A few months after I had water blisters crop back up on my finger. Worried I went back to the dermo and had a skin scraping and nothing showed up. The dermo seemed convinced that I couldn't possibly have symptoms crop back up so many months after treatment. So I treated myself again. Now I still have small bumps pop up on my hand and I found one on my foot. They are somewhat itchy but not at night and not to the extreme that was my original case. I am so tired of the paranoia, money spent, and stress this causes. Oh and it seems when I'm extremely stressed or hit they pop up! Please someone help!!

Does anyone have information on "Post Nodular Scabies"......I know that it's not active scabies, but basically the scabies "leftovers" trapped under your skin and that it's common in people with sensitive skin. I would appreciate any additional information that anyone has. Also, I'm very curious to know if the amount of time you suffer with active scabies affects the amount of time you suffer through post scabies symptoms.
Thanks and best of luck to everyone...

Hey guys I had scabies that I caught from a friend for about two months. I treated with the cream and felt 100% better within about 3 weeks. But now it's been about a month since treating and ill still get tht occasional itch every now and then. It's nowhere near bad as before just a lil bit in my back. Do I still have scabies? In my opinion I think it's all in my head but I wanted other opinions.

I treated for scabies using permethrin and ivermectin once a week for 3 weeks. After that I used 10% sulfur soap and took sulfur pills for 3 weeks. It has been 6 weeks since my last treatment and I am seeing the burrows on my hands get smaller but I am seeing what look like borrows on my face that I didn't see before. Could it be that they were so deep I couldn't see them and they are just coming to the surface now?

Go get a test for Bartonella Borrielia and Mycoplasma. Mites carry bacterial infections that cause the same symptoms long after the mites are gone.

I just found out yesterday me and my children have scabies. It's incredibly depressing knowing I've somehow given my children this disease I grew thinking only pirates could get and now it's reality!!! We've used permithern cream last night. I left the cream on me since it started with me and washed it off my girls this morning and now I used an antifungal cream over the affected areas and on top of that analgesic gel which I think is working since my skin feels like it's on fire. My husband thinks I cheated on him since you can only get it through prolong skin contact, I'm just a mess right now and don't know what I will do!!

Have you gotten any better with the permethrin?

So, I keep reading that people are having the same symptoms as me. Of course, my doctor has decided it is stress. But my boyfriend is having similar symptoms. I really dislike the doctor looking at me like I'm nuts. I've never had this experience.

We have each treated ourselves with the cream about 5 times. I took the oral med once, insurance won't cover it again. Initially, both of us felt like the problem was gone for about a month. Then, it came back.

I have tried tea tree oil, neem soap and shampoo. I have been taking an antihistamine the doctor gave me and I thought whatever it is was gone. But, more brown spots are showing up. They are like freckles, but even in places that do not get sun. I feel crawling on me often - especially my legs and arms. Occasionally, I see little pimples on my skin, but not many. The brown spots, however, are multiplying.

My nose and the inside of my ears are frequently itchy. It's not unbearable with the antihistamine, but it is creepy and I'm so fearful of passing this on to friends or new coworkers. I have no idea where the boyfriend and I got it. I have basically lost a friend over it, because I housesat for her when I thought I was cured and then, when I told her I may still have scabies, she freaked out and went way overboard with the cleaning.

I basically diagnosed myself originally. It was a couple of months ago. I had a friend who had them years ago. I looked it up on the Internet and I told the urgent care doc what I thought I had. He hardly looked at me and just prescribed the cream and pill. For some reason he prescribed it with a ton of refills, which is nice.

Anyhow, has anyone actually gotten rid of this? I'm trying sulfur soap tonight. It just arrived from Amazon. Any help or advice is appreciated.

I have been dealing with post scabies itch for weeks. Here are my findings.

1. Purchasing topical creams, lotions, sprays, roll ons and the like is an excellent way to throw your money away.

2. The most effective way I have found to relieve itching is a wet wash cloth on the affected area, preferably as cold as possible. I no longer use ice packs. Too painful. A cold wash cloth will offer sufficient relief. I used to, scratch to the point of bleeding through my pants so trust me, I know the feeling.

3. Recovery is amazingly slow. But one must realize you are attempting to treat a condition that is difficult to reach

4. I am improving. Slowy but surely. Patience is key.

5. Finally, stay busy during the day. Down time leads to thinking. Thinking leads to itching. And the cycle begins again.

Good luck. We're all in the same boat.

Hi. I had intense itching for a few weeks, worse at night. Went to 2 dermatologists, both of which could not find a mite or a burrow on my body but diagnosed Scabies based off the itching intensity, worse at night, and the appearance of my skin. I used permethrin & ivermectin simultaneously.(Each dr prescribed a different method). The itching is much better then it was but i still get flare ups especially at night. Not sure if post scabies or if i even had it at all? None of my bumps were in the webbing of fingers/toes, or arm pits, cracks of arms. My itching was my chest, legs, arms, back, stomach. I feel like my skin is like dry from the inside out now also... Prob from the permethrin! I go back to derm this week but my fear is that they will say im cured when they never found proof of scabies in the first place!!! Thoughts????

I don't believe in the theory of post scabies. After two years I am still fighting this mess.

If you have had this for two years, then what are you doing wrong?

Cheryl from bird mites yahoo group. It is not the eggs
you are feeling for. What you are feeling, is the area where the mites have burrowed into your skin. That is what you are feeling. The eggs that you speak of are under that hole in your skin, however small it may be.

So, if you are going to keep repeating to newbies that you are feeling for eggs, you are giving them the wrong information. Stop doing that.

What is wrong with you that you sayyou keep getting reinfested. You never got rid of them in the first place. You are not on third round. You still have them, and never got rid of them.

Are they actually finding scabies mites in your scrape, or are they testing for the antigen for mites??? I was diagnosed w/scabies 3x, the last time by a derm, and treated and treated. It turns out that I have a weird mite that burrows into the skin like scabies, but also infests my house and pets. The vet says it is not mange mites, and I quit going to the Dr. when she couldn't give me any more advice. Like you, it doesn't seem to affect my kids much. They got it initially, but it cleared after treatment and didn't come back. I am worst affected, and my husband gets bitten occasionally. I had a rash in the beginning, but now all I get are 'pinprick' marks.
I think it was either here when we bought our house last Oct., or brought in by my dogs from the yard. Scabies treatments and treatments for the animals helped, but it always came back. It isn't bird or rat mites from what I can tell; they are microscopic. The thing that seems to be turning the tide here, after a year of hell, is treating both myself, my pets and my environment heavily. If you keep getting scabies and don't feel that you are getting reinfected from a human source, you may have something resembling scabies, but more tenacious in the environment. Sounds scary, but not as scary as thinking that you have chronic scabies that won't go away. Good luck.
My bunny had scabies & the training book for rabbits said old wives tale remedy is to soak or pour on mineral oil as often as needed cause it drowns the skin mites almost immediately & my bunny was healed completely within a week of leaky itching! Try drowning the borrowing mites in mineral oil...it works!! God Bless! 8)

Pour mineral oil on your skin to soak & drown the burrowing mites as often as they itch and you will feel immediate relief! If already scratched to death & leaking pus, dry out & clean with 70%-90% isophyl alcohol, then wash w/cold water, then use mineral oil to drown those creepy mites!! Use an ice cube to relieve itching....All this, worked great on my bunny! I could see the relief on her face almost immediately.....God Bless! 8)

<quoted text> Please go to sulfurointment.com and get the 10 percent sulfur soap. Sulfur soap is cheap safe and effective. I have used permetherin and it seems to work for a day or so but not worth it and does not cure. Sulfur works and it is cheap and safe. Wash with it work it into the skin a little cause the scabies can hide mostly under your skin cells thhey are that small, and leave it on. Sulfur works fast and will give almost instant relief. You must leave the soap on your skin if you want the best results. Wash with it work it into the skin and leave it on your skin. Good luck.
After many tries w cream, tea tree oil, vinegar... after months of the struggle I ran across the sulfur soap and lotion on Amazon. It worked! What a relief it was after such a struggle. It is also good for other skin issues. My daughter has very dry skin. I put the lotion on her and it instantly helped. Just try the sulfur soap. Wash w it everyday. They'll be gone in no time.

Try sulfur lotion after daily showers with sulfur soap. It fights all sorts of mites and is great for your skin. Scabies are a pain to get rid of. I'd say leave your environment for a week. Go camping, shower everyday w the sulfur soap. When you return the Scabies in your home should be dead due to no host. Hopefully that'll prevent reinfestation.
