I've been having bumps too, it will disappear and reappear on the same place days or weeks apart. I've discovered that using Cetirizine tablets 10mg work I take it at night and then the morning the bump is smaller or gone.

I was diagnosed with scabies about 3-4 weeks ago, I used "ascabiol" once a week and pharmacy produced cream twice a day. These nodules have however continued on my shaft, scrotum and worst of all on my "head"/tip. Any signs of scabies have disappeared off of the rest of my body except mentioned places. Should I continue to treat simply on my genitals? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely.

If you aren't discovering any new nodules, I would suggest stopping treatment for a week or so to allow your skin to heal. If you keep putting scabicides & topical creams on sores, they're never going to heal.

Well, when I see someone scratch a spot more than a couple times, I'm going to have a red flag go up. There's that saying that goes, "I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy", well, I can say I would absolutely wish this on my worst enemy, in a heart beat.

ive been having this issue for a year befor i seen a specialist no doctor could tell me what was happening after std tests for 7 months,,i just have a question for anyone that has had this before,,, i was worried about herpes for the longest time,,and still kind of am,i showed the specialist my rash and she thought right away it was scabies so did i it looks just like it,but first my past symptoms

-just have a few tiny itchy bumps on the penis shaft (spaced out..not grouped)i get them every few weeks(and twice it was extreamly itchy for a few weeks)other wise it was never itchy till half way thru the year

-took up to 7 months before i noticed a large rash climbing up my left arm from the elbow and bumps on both hands that didnt go away (rash and bumps weren't itchy or anything for that matter)

-(important to me)Guys how often do you get the bumps back on your shaft? and i had gotten my first itchyness in weeks after treating my self i applied the 5% perthilin cream to the area that was itchy,,the itch went away the next morning i found 3 bumps/pimples a little distance out side were i applied the cream,,would that be normal? or maybe reinfected? i never had them any were else but the same area down there this is the first time that happened,,the rash and bumps on my arms is gone since my first treatment

either way here is my questions - with your guys experince does this sound like post scabies or possible herpes? i never had a scraping to know for sure my specialist and i both thought right away it was from that when i saw the large rash
help please

Hello Dr S Goswami
I have had a very bad experience with scabies. In August 2010, i developed scabies as my parents were visiting me from India and they had scabies. I applied Permethrin once and it seemed to heal but re-appeared few days later. This time my husband also contracted (Oct 2010) it as our dear GP didnt expalin that i had to change the linen/sheets of the entire house. So, this time we both applied permethrin and we took precaution. My husband also got it second time and he used permethrin second time. After two applications, scabies disappeared but itching continued for several days. And in Nov10, we both developed post scabetic nodules on our lower abdomen (exactly the panty line) and groin area. we showed it to our doctors but she prescribed some creams that never helped. it was really embarrassing especially at work as those nodules will each itch intensely every now and then.
After several appearances and disappearances, my nodules went on their own in August 2011, it took almost a year for them to disappear completely.
But my husband's nodules got worse as he scratched them badly out of frustration and they got bigger. His nodules were also exactly on the underwear line on his waist. We showed to a private doctor, he took a biopsy and declared it was B-cell Lymphoma, hell broke upon us and we were bewildered. I was not convinced as i had the same nodules but doctor wont listen. Then we contacted the Lymphoma specialist (best in Europe) and he examined the first biopsy again and did some additional tests. He then told us that it is a classic post scabatic nodule and it will go on its own. Thankfully, as he said the nodules disappeared in mid 2012. Now, every few weeks sometimes a red papule appears on that rash which itch slightly but disappear on its own. Its been 2 years now. i go crazy and feel very scared whenever that papule appears.
hopefully it will also go away soon. Do you have any suggestions/thoughts on this papule that appears sometimes? i will be grateful if you could please let me know your thoughts.
Many thanks

i just took the perm 2 days ago..so far no burrows but I'm still itching at night..sometimes i think something is crawling on my back or on my leg..it might be my mind playing tricks on me.all i know is that this whole scabies incident has been one big nightmare for me..i do not even sleep at night anymore.scabies has made me sleep alot less overall..some days i sleep 3-4 hours the entire day..I'm sick and tired of dealing with this..i just want it to go away..I'm so depressed..since taking perm i have noticed some rashes on my body that i never had before..also my penis and scrotum have rashes.this is one of the worst experiences of my life..now any little itch i get on my body i freak out and think I'm reinfected and it makes me itch more..i think my mind makes me freak out more so the itch because worst..i just want this to end already..as i am typing this i am also scratching different parts of my body..from my research i have read people say that the itch doesn't go away for weeks,or months..i hope it goes away.i would go crazy if i have to itch for months..i have been using cortizone itch cream maximum strength and it was helping the past few days, but today in the night time i was still itching and still am itching now..scabies are a curse.this whole thing has been a nightmare..i just want to live my life how it was before i got the scabies.i hate this.half of it is physical and the other half of this is mental

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced my issue. I no longer have scabies, confirmed by dermatologist, but like others kept thinking I was getting reinfested because I would get red nodule bumps on my genitals, head of penis and scrotum, not on shaft.
When the nodules would clear I felt comfortable to have intercourse with my partner and within two days the nodules would reappear and I would think I was reinfested. And treat again.
After seeing dermatologist three weeks ago and got the all clear and he explained what I was getting was post scabies nodules, and to use topical if dots reappeared. Well after 4 weeks of no nodules ventured into that arena again and bang nodules reappeared. I'm assuming the friction with intercourse is causing the reoccurance. I've decided that I will start using condoms for a while to take away the friction aspect and see if that works.
My question for anyone, males, does anyone else experience this issue when after intercourse and what timeframe did it end??
The post scabies bumps on the head, shaft and scrotum of the penis are very common. But lets face it, it is also very discouraging. I first tried neem soap on them, it actually inflamed them, making them worse. Then I tried tea tree oil, it made them look better for one day and burned.

Finally, my dermatologist gave me "ApexiCon & Cream" (diflorasone diacetate cream USP 0.05% emollient) made by Pharma Derm. I applied it twice a day, didn't see any results until day 4 and then the bumps really started to disappear days 6 and 7. Day 8, all the bumps were completely gone.

I hope this helps those with post scabies nodules on the penis shaft, head and scrotum.
Good luck and keep your spirits up!

Hey not sure if you check this thing anymore but did that cream put an absolute end to the bumps?

So I just want to say that after months of fighting these bumps I finally got Apexicon E Cream and it worked. It got rid of them in about 4 days. I tried many other steroid creams before this one and none worked except for this. Sometimes they can still flare up but they are not as bad and the cream makes them go down again. If you're struggling with scabies bumps I strongly suggest trying this cream out. I found it by looking on this thread and I just want to confirm that it did work.

So I've been lurking these posts for awhile but still have a few questions no one has really mentioned: First, are the nodules on your groin still itchy to a pretty high degree post-scabies? I'm currently living in China and they don't do scabies test so I'm assuming I'm over but can't really tell. Actually, some nodules have disappeared but the area where it was still itches. Secondly, do you guys know of a substitute to Apexicon? I can't get it in China and it's by prescription only in the states.

Hey guys just saying this may be an old forum but I'm hearing there is a simple house hold cure.

If u bathe in salt water they die as they live if moisture in the skin so by taking the moisture out if the equation with the salt they die off, this must be repeated daily but u will feel s telegenic after the first bath. U must constantly change bed sheets after each bath and I Segest using a scratcher like a was scratcher and use that whilst still in the bath to scratch the lumps, burrow marks and scabs, this may hurt some people a little but it works hope I helped

P.s. Wash clothes at 50 degrees or higher and use 500g of table salt into each bath.

Thanks, kyle

I wish I had a $1 for every dermatologist that has said someone is cured, when they are not. Scabies lay eggs under the skin, and most eggs hatch in 3-6 days. The repetition over time increases with the variance of hatching and laying of eggs.

If you have bumps, if you itch, you still have scabies.

The only way I have found to really cure scabies is shaving coarse body hair and treating the skin for 7 days, keeping all the skin wet with treatments day and night.

you are all never going to get rid of it. I have had it for 3 years, it never goes away because people around you have also got it but do not now or do not admit to having it, there is a stigma attatched to scabies. I have put cream on about 40 times and still I have got it, sometimes the rash is under my arms, sometimes at the top of my legs and sometimes I get 2 ar 3 dots here and there, how it presents changes. We will never be free of it until the medical profesion stop looking for classic signs and it is out in the open and talked about, you here about nits all the time, on the tv and in mags but you never here about scabies so people are freeked out by it and do not talk about it cause they think it is dirty. I feel very guilty cause I have infected many people but what can I do? I cannot stay home forever
Your not doing treatment right:

1) everyone you live with and have been in close contact with must be treated simultaneously and twice one week apart. Also don't forget the while change the sheets, wash the clothes after both treatments.
2) don't let yourself feel the stigma, society needs to change all the time but it's hard to be the one to start it. Give it a go if you can.

When people have scabies, they wan't to be rid of this scourge the very next day - but that's impossible! Treating scabies meticulously Needs time and patience - tons of patience!!

Rule of thumb: Having scabies, you will need the 3 C's: Stay calm, cool, and collected!

I had the exact same thing happened to me. After treating my scabies, my rash was gone except the ones on the genital area. The red spots were still there and it was still itchy. After seeing a skin specialist, the doctor told me my skin was too sensitive which caused the inflammation in my skin. He performed a liquid nitrogen cryosurgery (not a surgery but using liquid nitrogen on a cotton swab to get rid of the skin on my red spot) and after that it stopped getting itchy. Sometimes, old spots pops up and you just have to do it again. It will leave a scar but eventually and hopefully it will go away in time. The other option he told me was to perform a steroid injection into the itchy spots to kill the cells in the inflammation or something along the lines of that.
