I am one of seven children, we are a family of nine who have been battling scabies for SIX months. As of right now, we are taking borax baths: 2 cups Borax with 2 cups peroxide. We are soaking our head and body and then air drying.

My question is, have any of you had success with this? If so, how much borax and peroxide did you use?? Also- does it work on the head? Five of us have it on our heads, we are SO desperate to find a cure!! If this didn't work then what did for you? Thanks.

have heard that some people have some success with these but you need to be doing much more. Clean house top to bottom with borax and in the washing. You can either use zip-lock mattress bags or toss them. Treat all textiles or for very thick ones the only solution is to dump or you'll keep getting reinfected. These devils love cotton- get rid of all of it and use synthetic clothes etc. Permethrin 5% to 45%. Ivermectin tabs (sold as Stromectol). You can also buy ivermectin paste from a feed store in the US. Clean your environment and everyone beyond the point of thorough. Treat everyone at same time. Keep all of your treatments up for 3-4 months. You have to rid of them in every nook and cranny everywhere.

For heads you need very intensive and drastic treatments. Cut hair as short as possible. Use dog flea shampoo containing permethrin, also permethrin cream on scalp. Use nit comb twice daily. You can use permethrin flea spray in hair, also selsun gold. in a household of that size, be prepared for months of very hard work. You've all got to be thorough and don't waste your $ on 'natural' treatments.

Try the selsen blue. Its selenium sulfide 1% but leave it on overnight. When u wash off put more in and let it dry. keep in non stop. It will made your scalp painlessly peel after 2 or 3 days. Comb out peeling skin with a metal lice comb repeatedly and gently, rinsing the lice comb under hot water AND wiping away any clumps with a discarded toothbrush

If you are still feeling things after a week you will need 5% iodine mixed with a conditioner after the Seslen Blue has dried on your scalp. One full dropper mixed with conditioner is too much for most so start out with 9 drops with conditioner or lotion. I recommend using the MSM Lotion from Now Foods. Thats what I used to mix the iodine.

I was so desperate, I put 5 dropper full of 5% iodine on my scalp directly. It hurt alot but I withstood it. The next day I still felt crawling but the day after that, silence. Silence for 3 days.

No it cant be bentadine solution or tincture of iodine. It MUST be 5% iodine. Order online.

The borax and peroxide really works!
I used the permethrin cream 5 percent. I was still getting new ones although it had only been a few days since treatment. I started bathing in the borax and peroxide and scrubbed with a wash rag the place that had the most rash. It has been clearing up since and I am washing all clothes by adding borax to them.

1) buy Diatemecous Food grade and dust the etire house with it - leave it down for 72 hours and vac it up - I use my leaf blower to get it all over my house - a little goes a long way. reapply as needed
2)dirty clothes in a plastic sealed bin with a lid - add Diatamecous earth to the bin and let it sit with the DE in the bin.
3) clean clothes in a seperate bin with a lid - add bounce sheet to make clothes small fresh.
4) wash all clothes in arm and hammer laundry soap - dry and use bounce sheets in hot dryer
5) use 1 cup borax and 1 cup peroxide in a hot bath....I used a scrub brush and scrub my skin at night
6)my morning bath is Sulfur soap - borax if I feel like it
7)dust car interiors with Diatamecous earth - leave it down 72 hours and then vac it up - reapply as needed.

Well u may all think I'm crazy? But I went to the auto parts store and bought a few cans of chlorinated brake cleaner I sprayed down the areas where the rash was the worst and within 2 days no itch or creepy crawly feeling. The brake cleaner dries the skin around the east because it evaporates within 5 seconds. When I first tried this it was like a miracle it took the itching away immediately (oh the relief). It did burn a little but not horribly! I hate hate hate these little critters. I also cleaned my entire house with Borax all laundry with Borax I even turned my hot water heater up to 200 degrees guess I'm lucky there I have natural gas. We have hardwood floors in our house also nice. Borax on all cloth furniture scrubbed with a brush let sit for 2 hours the shampooed. Bagged all beds we were using put the others in the garage. We took all clothing in our house we were not using and bagged them off to the garage they went for at least 1 month! Dont forget about your pets they ca carry the little critters in their fur! I hav 2 dogs I spray down with De Flea 3 to 4 times a day also cleaned and bagged their beds. So here is what I've learned from my experience with these horrible creatures. Just my 2 cents if this info helps anyone with there infestation then at least I helped! Good luck to you all I have felt ur pain of your struggles!

1.use benzoyl benzoate ,permethrin, neem oil ,to make it clinically cured,. The doctor will say now you are cured. But it will recur,
2.To cure the final 4-8 mites consult an eye specialist.use opthalmic lens to spot the mite and lasix laser to kill it.
3.Create pressure on the govt to spend more on scabies. Most governments do not know it exists.file RTI applications .right to information.

Unfortunately, the scabies mites are very hard to treat which is why most treatments require you put them on overnight and even then some eggs are missed and your easily re-infected. When dealing with scabies you should take it seriously and use an actual treatment that is made for scabies such as Permethrin, sulfur or oral medications. If a few treatments fail I would suggest you make an appointment to see a skin specialist for a skin scrapping.

RESPONSE: environment! If u have them on your stomach or left clavical it's the seatbelt On your hands it's often driving wheel and shift on your feet it's shoes on your rib it's your bra, Your back it's the carseat. I threw out my bed and am sleeping on a folding cot or lawn chair with a piece of vinyl from home depot over it that I can wipe with bleach. Forget the pillow it's a scabies nest I used a freshly laundered towel. if you dip your hand n vaselline or a jar of mosturuzer it's contamnated. Long soaks do help. They love cloth. You mghy mop the tile floor but the spates in between need to get line with clorox bleach. Dry clothes an extra hour.

Take hot bath with two cups borax/one cup hydrogen peroxide. Soak for 15 minutes. Take cold shower and wash with Dr. Bonner's liquid peppermint oil soap. Eat plenty of garlic. Good Luck.

Go to the doctor to get an rx of topical ?permetrin. You can also buy a shampoo for this. My follow up was to mix a few tablespoons ofbleach in ? 1/2 L to 1 L water and spray it on the skin --did it in the shower - perhaps stood in the shower and let it sit on skin for 5-10 minutes. It is slow going but it annoys the scabies and they eventually went away - with environmental controls too - of course- meaning washing all bedding (sometimes needs repeats)- vacuuming. They are very tenacious. The bleach killed it in the children quickly but took the adults longer to disappear.

Does the borax really work? My 11 month old got diagnosed with scabies and all I can do is cry. We have no idea where he got it as far as cleaning goes we got stuff in bags, vacuuming carpets n couches. I'm ready to just throw everything away. I can't deal with this. I've been an emotional wreck since his diagnosis because him n his brother are the only ones that have insurance and my boyfriend and I need to go get the treatment but no extra money for it. Help!! Its killing me that its my baby ugh

Bathing in bleach, borax and or hydrogen peroxide does not cure scabies. It gives the scabies sufferer temporary relief and clean out the burrows for topicals to be more effective.

Bathing in bleach helps to kill surface mites.
The hydrogen peroxide is a penetrant and does penetrate into burrows. The borax and hydrogen peroxide protocol was created to cure a researcher's dog of demodex mites. It works somewhat with this type of mite, but not so much the scabies mite.
I use both hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol and this has worked better than most anything else that I have used, as far as non toxic chemicals.
The epsom salt baths were somewhat toxic, too.
But, the ivermectin and permethrin work the best for scabies mites, for obtaining a quick cure, and is necessary for norwegian scabies.
It's documented all over the place.

It's not about what's happening on the surface of the skin, what matters is what's going on under the surface of the skin. 90% of the mites are in burrows, not on the surface. Baths don't reach them deep down in their burrows. And let's be honest here, most people cannot be cured with topicals. Oral meds are the only legit way to cure. So stop bull shitting.
