Hi I was diagnosed with scabies from my Dr. I went trough two tubes of Permethrin and two doses of stromectal. Needless to say I tried every home remedy you can find here. I was physically and emotionally exhausted. I was to the point of falling into depression. I couldn't hold my 8month old baby because of the fear that I might infect him! Anyway once my Dr saw that meds weren't working she referred me to a dermatologist. as soon as he saw my arms he told me it was condition called Linchen Planus. he gave me a cortisone injection in his office and prescribed Triamcinolone. The itching disappeared within minutes. I wanted to write because maybe this can help someone out, I felt the itching the crawling and after trying every medications/home remedy I felt as if I was just gonna have to live with this miserable condition for the rest of my life. Please let me know if his helped anyone and if it did please make sure to post tat way other people can follow. Thank you. God BLess.

Hi there. Correct name in case anyone wants to look it up - is LICHEN PLANUS : symptoms listed on internet site. Different to Scabies - usually breaks out when your immune system is down!

Hi, have you considered reporting your Dr. to the medical board? I know a lot of people might frown on this idea, but I gather there is a fair bit of difference between the 2 diagnosis and what i'm looking at is a Dr. telling a patient when it's apparent your Dr. didn't have the knowledge to do so and in turn you've greatly suffered! Who knows what problems this will cause. Having a background in psychology, I'm very aware and I really think you should report this Dr. No Dr. should be giving diagnosis that is life changing...as this one was...when they are not knowledgeable to do so and it's apparent from what you've written that this Dr. was not knowledgeable in this area. I'm really fed up with Dr.s telling patients they have one thing when they have another because they are not knowledgeable enough to make a correct diagnosis and in turn the patient does not get correct treatment which can cause further problems that can be life changing happen. This happens way way too often because people give such respect to Dr. because they have the title DR....I've learned the hard way with my own suffering for over 8 years by being misdiagnosed for years. In your case from what you've told us, it sounds like you have plenty of grounds to file a case against your Dr. and I think you should Dr.s need to know that we are not going to be put this this and suffer like this for months in your case and years in mine and all they have to do is just say...sorry...and walk away...Baloney..they are making a ton of money off our suffering. I'm really very misstrusting of Dr.s any more and I have plenty of reason to be so. Everyone really needs to do their own research about their own medical problems and stop treating Dr.s like they are Gods and quit putting them up on Pedestals. They are just like you and I and in some cases have not as much education or knowledge as the average man does about his own body.We need to stop this kind of behavior by Dr.s and they need to take responsibility for what they do that significantly changes our lives.

They start off as little red dots some even appear in clusters and vary in size. I even thought i had burrows but turns out that lichen planus manifests itself on broken skin so if you get a scratch (as i did) it will develop as lesion. They are very very itchy and become irritated. I tried every otc cream but nothing helped until my dermatologist gave me the cortisone injection. Once the irritation and itching went away i was left with brown spots all over my arms. Dr. said they would slowly fade away. There are several types of lichen planus which include skin, oral, scalp, vaginal and nail. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the insight. I was pretty annoyed about the fact that my Dr. had misdiagnosed me especially considering the fact that i didn't have insurance and had to pay for both appointments and medications out of pocket. To be honest with you I guess i was just to focus on getting rid of the condition that i just wanted to find a cure so that i could hug my children without worrying about infecting them. But i agree with you completely.

They're called practices for a reason. You're right, Docs aren't gods, they are people who have to diagnose thousands of different issues and diseases, not just scabies. I'm not a doc, don't know any, but took Parasitology in college. Not as easy as you'd think to ID/diagnose every disease/critter. I'm extremely sorry that you suffered for so long, but filing a complaint seems iver the top. If you go 8 months, much less 8 years, with no relief and dont get a 2nd or 3rd or 10th opinion, maybe you should file a complaint on yourself.
