Turpentine Killed Them On Scalp

Thanks for your advice Joe. I think I'll try the MSM for my scalp. All areas in much better control. My hair is going a brassy blonde. I picked up stuff to dye it back to my normal color.

Will continue the borax, peroxide, water lotion for face and body. If I have to go back to it for scalp, I will.

Thanks everyone!

Turpentine Oil can be found in the medical section at almost any store. I would try Walgreens, and it is usually under $5. It is really strong, but I only mixed in a couple of tablespoons with 1/3 cup conditioner, and then left on over night. Yes, it will kill them, and THANK GOD! It worked for me, and it also worked when I used it on the rest of my body mixed with lotion. I did the same drill, couple of tablespoons mixed in with 1/2 cup lotion, and then spread on. If you use the turpentine oil directly it will burn, it should be mixed with something else. Out of everything else I tried on the forum, this worked straight away, and wasn't the let down that permethrin was.
This is just what worked for me, and my hope is that it helps someone else, as everything else on this forum, including the medical profession seemed to "help" but not eliminate them.
what body lotion was it u mixed it with?? ive tried and it doesnt seem to want to mix with anything..

I put it in containers and shook it. Used a liquidy lotion, and conditioner for scalp. Stayed mixed pretty well.

I'm now also putting some petroleum jelly spread on palms and dripping some turp onto hands, mixing on hands, and applying. Easier on my scalp.

Good Luck!

Incidently; I bought 1st 4oz of turp at hobby store for $6.+ Went to lumber-type store (Menard's etc.)--got 32oz for under $6.

IT's been day 4 of using turpentine on the scalp mixed with a conditioner, and the scalp is really tender and sore, but no more crawly feeling up there.
Thought I would let someone know my experience, as i used host of other arsenals on the scalp, and it took 7 weeks to find something that worked. Hope that helps someone!
Actually, i wanted to bump this thread because I am now free and this is what finally worked for me. It had none of the exhausting and damaging effects that permethrin had, and rid me of it after 7 months. Good luck everyone. I'm finally free.

I don't really think that the crawly feeling on your head is the actual mites. Most of the time, it's the body's allergic reaction and sensitivity to the mites themselves. Mites are too too too small to be felt crawling. When I was infested, I didn't feel any crawlies just the extreme itch. Then when I got treated, that's when I felt the crawlies possibly due to the reaction of my body to the dead mites. Now go figure.

If you can keep on claiming that you have eradicated what you think you have had, than you are kindly invited to report what brand turpentine, and what brand conditioner you have used.

Example: A few scientists got to know that a certain synthetic sponge (available in the supermarket) was able to bring a specific organism into culture. It is always highly specific what causes something to grow, or not to grow!

Thus if you think you have "hit" something interesting, than write down what brand you have used.

By the way; a claim should relate to at least one month symptom free, and not a few day's.

Cheers!

Turpentine mixed with olive oil and tea tree oil, making the turpentine 20-30% in strength. I used Swans Turpentine, and also Humco, thinking the Humco turpentine was a better grade. It never damaged my skin like permethrin. Permethrin is a nightmare. I thought after trying bleach, permethrin over 15 times, arm & hammer, clove, orange anise essential oils, salt baths, bleach baths, baking soda, vaseline and suffer wrapped in saran wrap for over 27 days, good lord i thought i was never going to rid myself of the buggers. Actually, Im now sufferring severe depression because I had to literally start over. I moved 4 times, lost my job, la la la like a flipping sappy kuntry song, so the trupentine finally got me over it.
I need to play the kuntry song backwards and get it all back!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! SCABIES SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED!

Over It Finally, I THANK YOU again and again and again.........
I used the turpentine as you said. I got relief almost immediately. It didn't damage my skin either, unless I got it too strong--so just backed it off a bit. The worst was a little soreness only.
I have a fresh quart in my closet--forbid I ever need it again.

The scientist needs "the facts, just the facts Mam". We must be kind. ALL the help here has helped me SO much, and things continue to improve for me. I am indebted to everyone here.

Well, turpentine does have a strong penetrating pine type odor, I don't think there's any odor of it's type that's stronger, here's hoping it drove away the mites, and, or, killed them. Take that you little bastids!

I found (Swan gum spirits of turpentine oil) at jjjdistributors.com , and 2 other turpentines online,(nepal turpentine), and (rectified turpentine oil) at baar.com , so I'm wondering if you found this product in the medical section at a drug store then maybe it's not the regular turpentine like what you find at the hardware stores??? I'm confused!

I just answered my own question, lol, because I couldn't let this go and I just had to stay up and figure this out. if you go to; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turpentine , you will learn the difference between the two, I guess the regular turpintine can hurt you if you drink or breath it, and can dammage your skin too. And the other is considered quote "Medicinal elixir" unquote. Wow!

I feel funny about the ABOVE blogs I wrote, but at the time I could feel these awful things crawling all over my face and eyelashes and scalp once again and I just couldn't take it anymore, desperation makes you do strange things, but I talked to my pharmacist and did alot of online searches under "turpentine scabies" and found that it's the fastest and easyist way to get rid of them for good, you should check it out yourself too. I cant find turpentine oil anywhere but my pharmacist ordered it for me so I will be using it on Thursday. I am using A&H and using diatomaceous earth internally and that keeps them at bay for now but I need to rid of them for good.

Hi bitten1--I feel for you.
I was desperate for relief and tried the turp/lotion for skin, and turp/hair conditioner for scalp as Over It Finally described in her posts. As posted above, I am indebted to her. I used it for a couple weeks and got things in some control.
I'm now seeing an eye specialist for bacteria and demodex in my eyes. All is SO MUCH IMPROVED!!!
I still get some creepy-crawlies when the sun goes down, but am reasonably sure it's the bacteria that lives on me--and not the little bug-creatures anymore. So what's the difference???:)
Anyway, it's a whole lot better--. I work out in a pool almost daily and take bleach baths most evenings. Slowly---making more progress.
Eye specialist is also sending me to a Thyroid Clinic. He says the thyroid alone could be causing much of my discomfort. That visit is a few weeks out.
Please don't feel "funny" about your blogs. All of us here get desperate and write about things--including emotions that we're experiencing--and the things we feel are EXTREMELY CREEPY!!!!!
I've been so grateful to find this forum and be able to "write out loud" to people who know and understand.
There's a website about the medicinal uses of turpentine. My bookmark says: Turpentine Therapy preceeded by a little treasure chest--think it's a website of older books. It was useful to me, lots of good info. Hope you can find it if you want to read there. Message me if you want to find it and can't.
Take Care, bitten1 !!!!

Thank you Sig, ;), I was planning on using the turpentine oil by now but the pharmacist says its on backorder, so I ordered it online, and its hard to find! I did find out with all my research I've done online that, this is the best chance I have to be totally rid of scabies and that turpentine oil is something that has been used for hundreds of years ridding pests like scabies. I still don't know the difference between regular turpentine and turpentine oil and there's even one called, rectified turpentine oil too. Which is what I ordered. Take care!

I'm so glad you will be getting relief soon!
I kinda wonder what it means that the turpentine oil is on backorder....I'd assume the demand for it is high.

Good old ginger applied topically and used internally is improving my conditions. I think my cough is lessening some--but expect this will take more time continuing internal ginger use.

"What's old is new again."

Turpentine did "burn" my scalp at first. I had to back down on the strength mixing with hair conditioner.
Look for Over It Finally's posts. I used her method.
Good Luck!

I'm wondering - Anyone out there losing hair? We've been dealing with this problem for more than 12 weeks....I have lost nearly half the hair on my head...out of all the symptoms we've got the hair loss is the worst to deal with....I don't look like me anymore.....I'd resort to purchasing a wig but I am afraid they will just infest that, too.....

Hi Southernbuggirl,
That sounds like demodex mites. If you haven't already, try shampoo and soap with tea tree oil added. Desert Essence, TheraNeem and Jason all have good strong dandruff / treatment shampoos that should get rid of this. This worked for me when I had an outbreak of demodex on my face and eyes.
If used carefully and diluted, the turpentine should work too (I haven't tried the turpentine, but have read about its use).
