some truths from someone with perspective

i live in london

i had bad itching and lumps (inc on genitals) for ages and did nothing until 10 days ago when i went to the gp. They said i had scabies. the QUALIFIED doctor of 30 years experience said dont worry it is EASILY curable.

So much rubbish on the net about it being some ridiculously difficult to solve problem, prob being peddled in US by homeopathy sellers. IN UK we get free healthcare so people not trying to trick us into buying stuff. Seriously type any medical problem into a forum and there will be 100 people saying how serious and bad it is.

So i took one dose or permithrin cream on last saturday and washed all my bedding and threw away mattress (where it came from prob). dr said that house mates and girlfriends dont need cream unless they showing symptoms. Remember i had it for months severely so others would have got it to by now if a worry...

next week i put on another dose and hey presto the redness and itchiness is going. basicall forgot i had it now. Some dry skin in between fingers and the Marks on my genitals are still present but going slowly down. They will heal soon im sure. the thing to look out for for reinfestation is the signature tunnel and burrow of a new mite. if not but still mildly itchy then just be patient

GUYS STOP WORRYING< GET THE CREAM AND WAIT A FEW MONTHS. itll be gone. Doctors here said it EASILY Curable. I was glad it was scabies as first off i thought i had an std like warts which are not easily curable so i was glad when she said scabies!!!!!!!!

back again- over a year on and they arent gone. THEY WERE IN MY HAIR- REINFESTING ME. ive figured it out by looking at this research: clove oil!!!!!! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20711455
i use it almost neat - diluted in a little cocnut oil with neem oil and anise oil- careful it burns a little. In a spray bottle, after bath shower twice daily and spot- applied, liberally, on face, head, scalp, comb through hair, and body- tie hair up. leave overnight. repeat in hair nightly, body twice daily. it works. im getting there after a year of trying everything, this is the most permanantly effective with no sideaffects, and people like the smell of the essntial oils (i dont tell them its to deter scabies of corse- the shame!!) i cant wait for this to be finally over, but i'll keep this up for another few weeks to be completely sure they are totally gone and zero crawly sesnations. I currently feel crawling once or twice a day. ive used this method for a couple of weeks. Previously ive tried (with variable results): sulphur soap (i still use this daily in the shower), bleach baths and spray (awful!), msm cream homemade (good, but not brilliant), epsom salts (helped my immune system &skin healing but did nothing about mites), permethrin (once diagnosed after 3 months of initial infection- took 3 weeks to reduce infestation by 30% and then I was getting neurological damage in my hands from the cream, so i stopped, and looked for a natural solution, also it didnt reach through the skin layers on my hands or wrists to kill them so I used nail clippers and surgically cut them out. I got rid of them there, I dont recommend this, but I was desperate!!!)

Many times Ive just wanted to cry, but then stopped myself knowing that crying wont get rid of them. There's so much shame with this thing.
THE BEST THING IS: ITS' A SKIN PARASITE, NOT A VRUS. YOU WILL GET RID OF IT, IT'S NOT PERMANENT. PLEASE TRY CLOVE/NEEM/ANISE OILS DILUTED IN A LITTLE (i used too much coconut initailly and it wasnt strong enough) COCONUT OIL, AND APPLY EVERYWHERE, LIBERALLY, INCL HAIR AND SCALP and hands and feet EVERY DAY. SLEEP WITH IT ON YOUR HAIR AND BODY. CLEAN PYJAMAS EVERY NIGHT, INITALLY DO LOTES OF WASHING, BUT YOU CAN CHILL OUT ONCE THEY DIMINISH. TRY IF POSSIBLE TO WEAR DIFFERENT CLOTHES DAILY, AND PUT ONES YOU'VE WORN IN A WARM PLACE. THE MITES WILL DESSICATE (DRY OUT ) AND DIE. Wash bedding regularly, and communal sofa coverings.

crawling is scabies.

itching is immune reaction to scabies & scabies waste (in my experience.)

POST is nuts- you have different bumpy 'hives-type' allergic scenario.(like when you first got the scabies)

essential oils honey- essential oils. Work on building up your immune system too. They live 3 days.

You should be able to buy it at any pharmacy or even order it off ebay or Amazon.

Hi
My husband got scabies in December .. All the family members used permethrin 2 times a week between .. Then after some time me and my son had nodular scabies we saw another dr. And she told us use permethrin 2 nights in a row without showering then after two night take showe . We did that + all cleaning and washing.. The other two of the family are fine .. But my son and I still not ok . We used again permthrin two nights in a row and she give us fucicort to use after that .. This was month a go .. These days I found a new bumps on my tigh and they are itcy .. I uesd hydrocortisone on all the bumps. Also the old nodular become big again .
My question I am infested againe? And is it safe to use the permethrin again?
Should use it the way two times a week between or two nights in a row.. I am very worry and do not know what to do
Thanks waiting to hear from you

OK. This is my first experience with scabies and I am not happy. None of the comments mentioned anything about pets. I contracted this from my dog who has sarcoptic mange which he contracted from wildlife, most likely foxes, which frequent my back yard. The Univ of PA Vet Hosp told me that the dog did not have to come in direct contact with the fox just the larvae from the mites that are in the grass and surroundings. The drug store only had 1 tube of the 5% permethrin cream last night and 3 of us showered and used it. I am afraid after reading these comments, that we will certainly have to apply the cream again. But the literature claims that 1 application is sufficient. Of course, we want them off of us and just the thought of something crawling and leaving feces in your body is cause for a nervous breakdown. The dog has to be treated too! I have been vacuuming and the Vet Hosp gave me KNOCKOUT which is a spray for your carpets and floors after you vac and mop. I want to mention to those of you who have contracted this from your pets, FRONTLINE AND ADVANTAGE do repel fleas and ticks but not this mite. There is REVOLUTION for fleas, ticks and will kill this mite in your dog and prevent it from being reinfested when outdoors. The only difference is you will need a script from your Vet to get the Revolution. Your dog must be negative for HeartWorm before you can administer the Revolution. This is a learning experience for sure and an expensive one at that. I had a scraping of my dog done at my vet and it came up negative. However the Vet Hosp at Univ of PA found the mite. 30-50% of the time the mite does not show up in the scrapings. I am trying not to itch the bites. The are much worse at night. I think I am going to go wash my sheets. Just had to share my experience. Good luck to whoever is dealing with this nightmare.

Question - if you do not put the permethrin cream on every inch of your body can the scabies "crawl" to the area that the cream wasn't applied to? My old roommate had the worse case of scabies I've ever seen. All over her entire body. We both used permetrin cream (I used it before I saw symptoms) we washed EVERYTHING at a Laundromat and I kicked her out so she wasn't infesting my house anymore. This was in February. Now its April and im started to get bumps on my hands, one on the side of my breast, a few on my legs. So two days ago I used the cream again and rewashed my sheets and all my clothes and now today I noticed more bumps and the bumps on my hands are not going away. Is it possible for my body to get prone to the cream? Or like my first question - are they crawling to the unmedicated areas? And also. I noticed bumps on my scalp but the tube says "apply to all areas of the body from neck down" ---- Help please!!!

So I used permethrin once. But I see no improvement what so ever, my feet actually got worse.(that's where it initially started) almost my whole feet are covered with them.it's been 4 days and still I find new bumps and it starts to itch bad and I scratch places where ideal ithy but no bump and I scratch and then I find bumps there the next day. But I dont know wether it's cause I scratched to much it left a bump or cAuse actual scabies. And I didn't have them in my hand, And ever since I rubbered the cream on. I see more and more itchy bumps on my hand!
Reinfestation or post?!?!

You should use the cream again 7 days after your first treatment and then 7 days after the second treatment clean everything including shoes.

I had scabies and got the prescription 5% permethrin cream…and the "Always low price" store charged me $80 for it! Yipes.
I read up on what was actually in the permethrin cream and it isn't anything mysterious. So I made my own and did a Youtube video of how anyone can. It turns out that $80 tube can be made by you for $2. The link to my video is http://youtu.be/tsTybmLtPQQ
or you can Google "5% permethrin cream DIY" and the link should top the list.
I made a web page describing the process which is at http://www.maximpulse.com/permethrin/

Oh! I forgot to mention I have used my homemade cream on my precious body and for me it worked just like the ridiculously expensive cream. Plus, because I could make it cheaply, I didn't have to skimp.
