Well, I guess Grovers wouldn't apply to those of us that have had it for 4 - 16 yrs. Maybe someone on here has Grovers, I don't know.

Grovers, excellent post and glad you found out what it was. Yet another skin condition to add to the list of people on here who thought they had scabies, were even diagnosed with scabies, but it turned out to be something else. Thanks for coming back to post your story.

Hi, I am new to this forum and just posted my long full story on this scabie or mite infection problem. I actually placed microscopic photos of what was under my skin. The biting and the rash IS real. I won't repost my story here, but was wondering if any of you might like to read it and look at the photos and offer any possible identification it would be appreciated. Thanks...

Im going on 3 years now....I have done everything down to the T. I ordered that tea tree oil shit and used it every day for three weeks and it worked less than the elimite. If anyone has gotten rid of this successfully please email me at seanl251@yahoo.com and so you know that is an L after sean. I feel for every one. I spread it to my girl and now we are fighting it together, but it seems as if there is no hope.
Hey, did you ever get rid of this plague? I'm going on a year and feel hopeful, yet frustrated by this undending plight.

I got a microscope and can see the mites swimming in the oil. I did my own skin scraping.

i just found out I have scabies yesterday. about 3 weeks ago my inner thighs and breast started to itch so I just thought it was dry skin... then all of the sudden within the last week or so little bumps filled with clear fluid started to appear on my hands and feet, then around my waste and some on my stomache, thats when i knew something wasnt right :( this sucks, big time. the doctor says i cant go accusing who ive slept with (my sons dad) because you can get it from many different things, but my gut tells me otherwise. either way, I just used the 5% permithrin (sp?) last night and have been cleaning all day. I have a cat and I'm afraid she could get them. I have read many different things on here (which have turned me into a crazy woman) and some say animals cant get the same kinds humans get but some say they can. she has a vet appt. today so we'll see how that goes. I just hope I don't have "the itch" for months, or even years, like some of the posts I have read. I feel disgusting, 24 years old, I take very good care of myself and I feel as if I've let my body down. I'm so scared, I feel like I'm losing it. back to cleaning

My boyfriends nephew was diagnosed with having scabies this past October. We were told that all he had was a rash....I was a bit weary because I saw that his personal hygiene is really poor. Pretty soon everyone (6 month old baby, 2 yr old son, 5 yr old and 10 yr old and boyfriend and now me) started having the mysterious "rash". So I googled it and saw that it was Scabies. We confronted his mom (they live in our basement) and she finally admitted that it was scabies and that it was highly contagious (DUH!) The following day after she admitted to us ( about 4 days ago) I took my children to the doctor. We were prescribed permethrin 5% and was told to disinfect the entire house with lysol. I did that. I applied the medication on all the kids and ourselves as well, washed everything in my house that was washable and disinfected the whole house. This was the day before yesterday and I am now more itchy than ever and have noticied more bumps and rashes appear. Is this normal? I am a very clean person and this whole situation is freaking me out. My 6 month old has horrible rashes all over her body as well as my 10 yr old and boyfriend. I did not have them as bad as they did but now have more rashes all over my body. I did exactly what I was told to do. Put the medication on, disinfect, wash and then after 12 hours wash the lotion off. Is it normal? I still feel itchy and that crawling feeling all over my body. PLEASE HELP. I am thinking of kicking his relatives out of my house if this treatment did not work. By the way she did not use the treatment but has stayed in the basement and no longer socializes with us as she feels that I was mean.

First off, relax. Scabies is not a hygiene issue. Anybody can get it. A handshake, hotel bed, etc..

clothing can be contaminated as well.. sharing washer/dryer etc..

you can find a lot of info here about them. Some have a much more difficult time ridding themselves of them as most MD's are clueless until it is full blown in rashes everywhere.

Let me see if I can answer your questions..

1. Yes the cream can make you itchier for up to a couple weeks.. after the first few days it should subside.. however, keep in mind that some scabies are resistant to permithrin cream. I know, doctors say it's not likely, but more and more here on this forum we see people posting their struggles and poor results with it.

for me I felt relief within hours.. but they didn't kill them all and had to do multiple treatments.

a lot of people find success by taking 'stromectol' you have to get an rx from your doctor for it.. and with the cream.

everybody should be treated together, including those without symptoms (the persons in the basement?)..

I had them in my scalp and on face.. again the docs say they don't go there.. bullshit.

I have had a lot of success, but seem to keep getting re-infested.. I just treated my dog tonight because she was scratching and I am getting itchy again.. I haven't treated myself for close to two weeks and think I need to go at it one more time.

Yes this sucks.. totally sucks.. I gave it to my 4 year old who gave it to her mom. Luckily my 4 year old is symptom free and has not been at my house until I resolve this.. but she got re-infected and was treated 3x with cream as well.

things that helped me greatly...

- permithirin cream 5%
- sulfor 10% ointment (put in my hair and on face, be careful can get really bad dry skin from that)
- baths in a 1/4 cup arm and hammer laundry detergent (powder kind only)

others have had great results with other things.. but I highly expect you'll need to treat yourself again. Also, go back to the doc and tell him you're symptoms post treatment.. ask about stromectol.

We feel your pain and frustration.. you're not alone.

well.. I put the cream on monday night and it is now thursday evening, I'm still itchy, which was to be expected, but worse than the itch is the mental picture I have of them in my head. eating away at my skin. I think I have driven myself crazy. I havnt been back to work since I was diagnosed monday but I have to go back tomorrow. I doubt I'll get much done with this on my mind. I'm so worried I am going to get reinfested. I will follow up with another tube of permithrin cream on monday.. I really hope it does the trick. I took my 7 year old to the doctors yesterday because he had a rash on his genitals and I thought it was somehow scabies but the doc. said it was exzima and gave us cream for it. he also gave him a tube of the permithrin but told me not to use it on him unless he starts having sypmtoms. I'm worried because almost everywhere else on here I see it says to treat everyone in the house at the same time even if they dont have symptoms, but I also dont want to apply that toxic cream to my son if it's not necessary. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP? what should I do? I also washed all the laundry on monday and they have been in bags ever since, do you think they are fine now? I bagged up my mattress pad also, then lysol'd down the mattress and pillows. cleaned the whole house followed by lysoling EVERYTHING down, and using a magic eraser in the bathtub followed by lysol as well. hopefuly it will be enough. my doctor said my case isnt a bad one but it seems everywhere I look (other than my vagina - thank god) I have spots from these things. This is so sad. I have been putting antibiotic cream on them at night to hopefuly help with the scarring this is causing, is that harmful? I'm thinking about buying maderma as well to help with the scarring. any helpful thoughts?

If you go to this site, it tells you that you CAN NOT catch scabies from a cat or dog - there's is a different type.
I've found several websites that say you CAN get it from cats and I've also found several websites that say you CANNOT get it from cats.
I really don't give a shit about what the website says anymore. I'll post pictures of my cat, with mange-like symptoms (which are the symptoms of scabies) and then I'll post pictures of my scabies and you can be ther judge. I've had it now for about 2 months and my cat has had symptoms as well for about 2 months. Coincidence?? Probably not.
I've tried everything under the damn sun. I should own the damn scabies pharmacy for everything I've tried. I quit with "professional scabies" websites... I'm on here to talk to real people going through the same stuff I'm going through. I'm getting more info out of being on this forum than any research I've done anywhere else.
SO, post your "professional website" BS somewhere else, at this point I don't think anyone cares where the hell it came from, we just want it gone!

well, this is the 6th day after treatment. they say to wait 7 days to reapply the permethrin cream but I am going to go ahead and do it tonight. I have litterally driven myself crazy over this condition. I couldnt tell you how long I stay in the bathroom looking at every little mark all over my body. Last night was horrible, I was looking all over for burrows and in the meantime I irritated every mark on my body. I feel crazy, crazy people pick at themselves, and I am not crazy, yet there I was, spending hours picking at my skin. Now I'm afraid of the scarring this is causing. I have been applying neosporin to the spots I have been picking at but I feel like there's got to be something else I can do to aid in the healing of my scars (obviously the first thing I need to do is use more self control and leave my damn spots alone). my son tells me I'm always paranoid anymore (he's seven, sad huh) and he gets on to me any time he sees me checking myself out, making sure there are no new bumps. I have seen one or two new bumps since the initial treatment monday night. After reading on here I believe that is pretty normal, just my body still rejecting all the foreign crap in my skin. I'm so worried and it seems to be consuming me. I think in this situation, I'm making it worse on myself. especially the picking. I even cut my nails so short that it almost hurts, thinking that would stop my picking, but now I seem to be irritating everthing worse because it takes longer to get the scab off. I feel..... exhausted. does anyone have any helpful hints that will aid in the healing process, vitamin E I heard is great for scars so I think I'll pick some up today. PLEASE HELP, I feel so hopeless and it hasnt even been a week since I was diagnosed.

TO: Wants To Cry, Tiev, Hating Scabies, 1-More, Frustrated and Everyone Else. I have been dealing with this issue for about 3 months now and realize that this is NOT scabies. I have been all over the internet, the book store and anywhere I can find information on this. What I have begum to realize is that the majority of us here and under other categories all over the internet are suffering from the same affliction. I have found this problem at gardening websites with posts all over the US, not yet realizing it's a medical issue. I've found this affliction under Unknown in so many medical categories on many different websites. Then I found the same symptoms at the Morgellons websites. I realize now that there are 1000's of people with this affliction and unless we all realize we are suffering from the same thing and get together in one place, we are all going to keep suffering only under different categories. By the way, those of you that have heard of Morgellons, don't concentrate on the media hype about the fibers. I believe the media is concentrating on that angle just to discredit the affliction. Not everyone has these, YET. I am trying to place some links and information I have gathered together in one central location so that everyone with this affliction can get together in ONE place to assist each other. If you are interested, you can read my initial story at: http://www.chacosplace.com/mitestoryhtml.htm

this site seems to have a non-toxic option and also mentions that many people are really suffering from Morgellons.

Is it something other than Scabies? Could it be Morgellons Disease?
People live for months or even years with a condition they think is Scabies. Many people who have been misdiagnosed with Scabies actually have Collembola. Collembola seems to have the same causes that Morgellan's Disease, Lisa's Disease and Fiber Disease have. For more information about Collembola and Morgellons, please visit our informative DermaTechRx™ Skin Parasites page. We also provide you with a skin parasite and Scabies forum on this link to share your experience with others.

I hear neem oil in your soap lotion or shampoo helps your skin heal and soothes post scabies during treatment.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Unfortunately, this looks like being another difficult day, and, as Mars turns retrograde, certain people are quick to take offence or raise their voices. Make sure you aren't adding to the tension by doing or saying something that's provocative or even downright insulting. If you get involved in a shouting match it will be difficult to stop and you could say some nasty things in the heat of the moment.
