I am seriously thinking about having my house treated by professionals. Not too may have treatmets for scabies mites but I did find one company that claims to have dealt with scabies exterimiation. Has anyone had their house exerminated? I haven't seen much on the topic here.

I thought my scabies was cured but I just got 4 new bumps over the last 3 days after not having any for 3 or 4 weeks!

Nikki, I also had my house treated by professionals on a 2x month basis. It helped a little, but not worth the money. I'm not sure if they knew what they were doing or not, but I had better results with using the Raid bombs (blue box 12.5% perm) alternating with Raid cypermethrin bombs (orange box and cheap) and vacuuming really well after bombing. Maybe the company you are dealing with knows what to treat with more than mine did. We may not have the same type of mite, but that is my experience with the company I had.

And Nikki, I have also thought I was done for 3 or 4 weeks several times, then got it back. New bumps could be just skin still reacting, but if it's new scabies bites, and rashes that get worse or spread then you know you still have some mites.

Well what do you know - the exterminator guy called me back and left a message telling me that he can't treat my house. He said he did some homework and realized that he will not be able to help me. I bet he got freaked out once he really read into it. It also tells me that he had NO idea what he was dealing with initially when he claimed how easy it is to get rid of mites.

Anyway I will try the Raid bombs. Thanks for the advice.

I went to the derm yestereday and he told me that my bumps are an "id reaction". He said that my immune system is hypersensitive after being exposed to scabies, and it's reacting to things it normally wouldn't. He said that there's nothing we can really do about it other than to let my immune system go through it's cycle. He perscribed me some prednisone and atrax? for the itching.

Is there any way to tell if the bumps are a post reaction or if I'm still infected? They look like mosquito bites!

Someone told me just last night to be careful with the atarax. I passed out at the dinner table last week. I went to bed about 4 am this morning, got up at 7 and took the kids to school went to wal-mart and came home to lay down for a nap. I don't remember driving the kids to school and being at Wal-mart is patchy. I guess I didn't 'sleep it off.' So yes, please do be careful with it
