I also notice black specks on my back after a 45 minute infrared sauna therapy. Is it the heavy metals I am detoxifying?

Jeannie. If you are doing an infrared sauna, you already know what is going on with you. Anyone who has gotten to the point of using a suana knows exactly what is happening to them. Why ask a stupid question like that? You already know you are detoxing, whether it be mites or toxins in your body.

what you are seeing is probably called morgellons-i personally think its an attack on a weak immune system-i believe it is a nutrition problem and would suggest ordering an immune booster pack from the company Shaklee and incorporating their products in your diet

Hi I'm just wondering if you found out what the black specks were? I have the same problem and am going crazy.

What in the world are all these black specks? I have treated for 2 months straight with anything and everything (permethrin, ivermectin, sulfur, neem, msm, tea tree, and on and on). Seen multiple practitioners and I fell like there is progress. I may be in post scabies now. I still have creepy crawlies but no new bites, holes, burrows etc. I do still get tons of black specks on my skin. They just appear on the skin. When I change my sheets (daily, on my vinyl covered inflatable mattress since I put my bed in storage weeks ago) There are black flecks in the sheets and under the sheets on the mattress. I have looked at them under the microscope. They don't look like "scabies". Some are totally amorphous and some actually look vaguely like they could be an organism (an exoskeleton?). Any thoughts? I am sending these to a friend who works in the entymology department. We'll see... Please tell me if you have had these too.

Yes.......my partner and I both have the black specks on our skin and also they are around when I clean......somebody suggested they are mite faeces which just does not add up as how can the mites be microscopic and we can see their poo?

I am wondering if the American strains of mites are different from the European strains as I notice you are in Ireland and I am in Spain......and that the black specks are the mites........

Ya know, if you have a solution to this problem that so many of us are suffering with, it sure be nice if you would share it rather then posting a site and come-on to make money off of us that are suffering. Believe me...if I had the cure, I'd sure share it with EVERYONE that needed it...I have suffered with this for a year and tried soooo many things and doctors say there is nothing there! Nothing personal, but go advertise on ebay or something to sell your information, not in a place where people share with each other free of charge, things that helped them. Sorry for the rant, but it just irritates me that folks may have the cure for this horrible mite problem, but want the almighty dollar rather then to help their fellow suffers. SKF shared freely so much information, and to her and so many others that also have...I say God Bless you and TY...your time, information and help is appreciated more then you will probably ever know!

Has anyone used an infrared sauna to get spring tails out of your skin? I've been living in a house so infested with these tiny little springtails. Extension Service looked at them under the microscope and identified them. They are black, look like dots in young stages then like fleas as they mature and they hop. They are attracted to and consume mold, bacteria and moisture. I don't have fibers coming out of my skin but I feel these bugs crawling on me at night or when I sit. They are in my clothes. I can't stand it! There are thousands in every room all over the floors. They are on the countertops. I wipe everything in the entire house with Lysol wipes and vacuum and clean the floors every week. It helps somewhat. I've used poisons, nothing gets rid of them. My throat is swelling to all foods. I've spit up blood, several times, and phlegm daily (controlled with garlic caps). I think they got in my foods and I'm having allergic reactions. Maybe the infrared sauna will at least help me get rid of them and detox the poisons. Does it work to rid spring tails? Please help me!

For me, these articles explain the fibers which I get, I often get black fibers and maybe grey ones on the face but no hard particles, nor funny colour fibers so I don't believe it to be Morgellons. Nick Mann below in the story is, was a British General Practitioner (MD)whose black specks turned out to be from a rat mite. How many of us ever get the consideration or can marshal the resources of an entire array of medical friends who can help us correctly diagnosis what and which type of mite it is? Instead, we get to hear parasitosis over and over again.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/8626767/Mor...

Nick Mann was convinced that something was burrowing into his skin.
The 48-year-old father of two had been for a walk in the beautiful
grounds of Abney Park Cemetery, down the road from his home in
Hackney, east London.
It was sunny and he'd been wearing shorts and sandals. That evening,
his legs began itching. Marks sprang up all over his body. "I just knew
something was on me," he remembers. "Something digging or biting into
my skin."
Over the coming days, lesions opened up on his body. Running his
fingertips over them, he could feel something inside: it felt like spines or
fibres, he says. He began to feel tormented. What were these bugs?
How many were there? Would he ever be rid of them?
One afternoon, in desperation, Nick stripped naked in his kitchen and
determined to dig one out as soon as felt it 'bite'. "I stood there for three
or four hours, waiting," he says. "As soon as it did, I went for it with a
hypodermic needle. There was one on my nipple."

(Quotation abridged....)

"I took the three mites I'd caught to our local Homerton Hospital," he
says. "A technician mounted one on a slide, put it under a microscope
and said 'Beautiful'. Everyone gathered around saying 'Ooh, look at
that'."
It was definitely something. But they didn't know what. "They sent it to
the Natural History Museum, which identified it within a day," says Nick,
"as a Tropical Rat Mite."
Although museum experts doubted the mites could live on the skin, the
GP has no doubt that is what they were doing. "What these mites do is
go in through the hair follicles and find a blood vessel at the bottom.
That's where they sit and that's what the 'fibres' are their legs folded
back."
Nick, who treated himself with an antiparasitic drug to eradicate the
infection, can only guess that he picked up the mites walking in the
cemetery. Despite the name, they are not exclusive to hot climates.
Nick believes it likely that many patients who claim to have Morgellons
are actually infected by Tropical Rat Mites. However, he agrees with Dr
Oaklander that this diagnosis is unlikely to explain all cases. "There
doesn't appear to be a single explanation for it," he says.

So for the last two months I've been treating myself for scabies. It's been a roller coaster of up and down, feeling better, feeling worse. I feel like I'm being eaten alive. Been using EVERYTHING. Recently started doing the Dead Sea Salt baths, and tonight a hundred little black dots came out on my skin when I got out of my soak. Now I think I have BIRD MITES instead of scabies. I googled "black specks" and mites, and Bird Mites came up. No wonder the permethrin wasn't working!!!! But now I'm really freaking out. This is by far the worse thing I've ever gone through. The doctors know nothing about parasites in and on people.

What did your specks look like?
What do you think of the dead sea salt? I'm doing them too. I always got specks in the bath tub nut with the dead sea salt, it's less each time.

Fred -- the specks are super tiny, smaller even than a speck of pepper. Maybe about the size of the period of this sentence. They're TINY. Pin prick size, actually. But against my pale skin and the porcelain tub, you can see them. I have a call into my doctor right now to see me as soon as possible. I was able to pull about 10 of the black specks off of me, placed them on a white card, and put them in a baggie, to take to the doctor. I also noticed a lot of new freckles, which is odd being winter and that I haven't really been in the sun. But even odder when I'm in a long soak and I'm able to scrape one off. YUCK!!!!

But to answer your question, I like the Dead Sea salts. I guess because I've seen the most dramatic results with them. Someone told me it's the same thing as common table salt, but I'm not too sure about that because it feels a lot less drying on my skin. They are really expensive though. Will be switching to Epsom salt soon, since it's more affordable. Also, using a lot of sulfur soap and neem oil.

I don't think this is scabies. I think it's bird mites or something like that. I think that's why so many people fail with treatments made for scabies. See: birdmites.org for more details.
