So, do you really want a treatment that takes two months? Think about it. One missed day = reinfestation. All that bedding washing, and clothing washing. It's not enough to use a method like this. It probably works, but it's better to get it over with and not infest anyone else. One quasi toxic application of Perm is surely less than a month of something else. If you don't mind waiting, use sulfer. It works and will cure you. For sure. Guaranteed. The Humco brand of sulfer smells like a box of matches, not eggs. Nice even. Add an essential oil drop or two if you want. To make a usual batch of sulfer, add one Tablespoon of sulfer, mix it in with nine Tablespoons of sulfer. If you tolerate that well, make a stronger batch. Or have two batches, a ten percent batch for whole body, and a stronger batch for topping off bumps. It should cure you in a few weeks.

Mea Culpa, mix with nine Tablespoons of Vasoline, not nine more of sulfer. Sorry. This gives a ten percent mix, the usual, prescribed dose. If you want to, you can add a little more sulfer to your batch anytime, or conversely, you can add more Vasoline to it, if it seems too strong. Just write it down, so you'll know how to replicate it next batch.

i use the same ratio of sulfur to shampoo and condioners for my head, if the head is bad just leave the conditioner in overnite. i out of paranioa mostly still use the lotion mixture. seems like after having this u never totally feel "cured" any bump and omg. i also used triazicide mix insecticide bought in garden area and sprayed everyplace (car, laundry room, bathroom, walls floors including bed) every couple weeks as it leaves residue and lasts 2 months. kills mites it says actually bought it when i thought i had mites from my oak tree and sprayed it.

Hi Crazy, It's good to know that there's a good spray for mites. I know that pyrethrins in bomb form aren't really very effective on these according to most posters. So, Crazy, how are you feeling these days? P.S. That sulfer shampoo and conditoner recipe sound very smart.

How often do you apply the lotion. Is it safe to use on children. I'm glad you say it really works because it gives me hope. Right now I feel pretty hopeless. I've only been battling this stuff for a month but it has put a halt to everything, I mean life is totally different now. Can we use it on our face to get rid of what feels like crawly stuff on our cheeks or eyebrows, etc.

I agree with Welty about Humco sulfur....it kills mites for sure. could add some lemon oil, it helps mask any stinky odor and repels mites.

I got a bad rash on my chest and arms the first time I used it, after that I was ok. It's very drying to the skin but it helps to dry the bumps faster.

It can be used on the face and mixed in a hair conditioner and left in the scalp all night. Keep it on as long as you can. Sulfur takes a few days of constant usage for a total cure. One poster used it every day for at least 3 weeks and was cured. Every case is a little different.

I use it to spot treat large areas.

Ask a pharmacy or MD if it's safe for kids.

thank you so much for the information. It really makes me feel good to hear there is something that really does kill these things. I just hope I can clean good enough like everyone I have read about .
That is what scares me, that I will miss something. I've wondered aabout having us all check into a motel for a few days hoping all would be dead when we return. I pray my daughter and grandchildren don't get them when they come to watch grandpa while my husband and I work at school. Now I really think my husband and I have them after treatment because we hve these little red spots appear and feel pin pricks all over. I try to tea tree oil over and over. I called the derm. but she wanted me to give it two more weeks since it has only been two weeks since treatment. She thinks it is dry skin that makes the pin prick feeling and crawling feelings we have. She said to put really good lotion on but my husband thinks I have some new red marks I haven't had before and I see some on me too. Well after reading what you said, that the sulphur really works, that encourages me. I work with autistic children and worry I may be spreading something, but the derm. says I'm safe......hmmmmmmm

Crazy and Welty gave good advice that I agree with. Both these posters are knowledgeable and have experience with scabies.

only problem for me with sulfur is that it really irritates my skin and so i can only use it for a couple days at a time....

If i worked with autistic children i'd take a leave of absence. I can't imagine being a parent of an autistic child with scabies.....especialy since they can be so difficult to get rid of.

Reatha, The sulfer treatment is a medically approved treatment. It's simple to mix the Vasoline with the sulfer. But what I didn't mention, and that is critical, is that it is a head to toe treatment. Neck to toe if you don't have scalp involvement. It's slow, but effective. It's safe for babies, the safest thing for babies, in fact. You need to apply this stuff for five days neck to toe 2X day. If you have them in your scalp, then use something other than vasoline, like conditioner. Yes, going to a Hotel is a good plan if you can afford it. Very good plan. Can you buy some cheap clothes from WalMart that are new? And if you want a speedier cure, use Permethrin. Use it for the Maximum time on your first night at the hotel. Use it in your scalp if that is affected.(Ask for extra tubes if you have longer hair, it wastes a lot of perm to do a scalp treatment, but it's essential, if they are in your scalp. If not, don't worry. I am recommending this as the best way, but Perm isn't as good a kill as it used to be, so top off any itchy spots in that 24 hours with extra dabs of perm. Get a sandwich from room service or pack some food, if you need this in your hair. Don't rewear any clothes pre-treatment, and keep them in a seperate bag. Get your bed changed! Perm would be easier for you guys, but give it the max time, plus. I don't think working with kids is a good idea, right now. But I think they may have given it to you.

P.S. After the five days are up, revaluate if using sulfer. The medical advice is five days, but that is not going to work if your environment has a lot of them or if you're getting them back from somebody. Permethrin works pretty well if it's a new case if used for long enough and topped off. And a second treatment in five days. Can you take a leave of absence?

Wow, all of your notes are soooo much appreciated. And yes, I have taken off work now, along with my husband. Finally the derm office was sympathetic with me and said she would contact me right away tomorrow ( the derm. is off on Mon.) If she says the perm is ok to do again We'll do it. At first I was afraid of all the poisons. Now we have decided we definitely all reinfested.........lots more crawly feeling, lots of small red bites, even under the nose pieces of my glasses, and now marks on grandpa. Appreciate the suggestion to do perm. again. I'll ask my husband about the motel idea, I know we talked about it before.

About my kids at school, the head school nurse said it would be a good idea to send a note home just so the parents can be watching out for any sigms. Then also we let the county know because of the foster child and the parents said that was fine. Today I just vacuumed lots and cleaned the furniture and put stools on it so noone will sit on them. O dear, I'm falling asleep with my hands on the keys. Ha, Haven't slept well for ao long. ONe thing I will for sure do this time around is a much better job with the cleaning.
Thank you all again for the encouragement and answers. I'll see what the derm says about treatment tomorrow and let you know. What do you spray on furniture like kitchen chairs with rattan (I think that is what it is called) i KNOW if they have crawled off of us they need to be sprayed.o dear fell asleep again, goodnight.

Hey welty or anyone else, the derm. office just called and perscribed Ivermectin by mouth, one dose. I can't remember what I've read about it on these postings. Is it suppose to be effective and safe? I forgot to ask how long it takes to kill everything off. Any knowledge could help tons.

Permethrin is made from Chrysanthumums. Really. The thing they add to it is Hydroxytolulene, which is in some shampoos. Really. I haven't had any problems, or drying or weird rashes or anything. My only problem with Permethrin, is that I don't think it works in eight hours, which is the minimum time. As far as using Ivermectin, one dose will only kill the adult mites. It probably takes six weeks of Iver, every five days to stop this, if you're not using anything else, but together, with the max time on the perm, plus add dabs of extra perm to the itchy spots, topping off, will help a lot. This is a pretty straight forward thing if you treat right away and get enough meds. Ask for refills. P.S. A lot of people on this website had/have atypical rashes. If you have the kind that causes the typical hand rashes in the webs of your hands, then it might be also easier to get rid of. But do it now. Don't believe that Doc or that tube of Permetrin that says one dose is curative. It's two. Wash sheets after treatment before sleeping in them again. Good luck. Bless you and family.

A cheap way to maximize your Perm treatment is to leave it on for the max time, adding dabs to top it off. In fact, many websites suggest leaving the Perm on for 24 hours. I think that's best. It didn't bother me. Then wash it all off. Look for anyplace that is still lively. Then dab on to those spots and leave another 24 hours. You can't do only a spot treat with this, you have to get the surface ones all off you first. The ones that still feel lively after a complete, and neccessary complete body/scalp treatment are stubborn and should be treated as a continuation to complete the kill. I think I am cured now. I do think Perm is not as effective as prescribed as it once was, before these creatures got resistant. But no ill effects from the 24 hours. Then do it again in five days. Take the Ivermectin midweek if you have only one dose, and then you can do the other Perm treatment on day eight instead of day five. Also, don't let the relief from the Perm and Iver stop you from treating again. These will flare up if you don't trample them into the ground.

I'm on the triphala and it works like magic. I'd say it's akin to an internal repellent, a souring of the milk if you will.
