Iried to get Farnam Ivercare, but mistakenly got "Horse Health" By Farnam. It's shown here.

as shown here:
http://www.amazon.com/Companies-3004326-IverC...

It's made by farnam, but it is NOT the Ivercare.

Should I not take it? I really don't want to wait. I should hvae read more closely :(

Has anyone take this? It says, "Not for human consumption" and "Don't feed to horses intended as food." and RESIDUE warning.

Do I have to wait (I really don't want to) for the Ivercare? Or can i try using this stuff? Does it seem safe to you guys?

Thanks for any advice!!!

What are the ingredients on the box?

Ivermectin is a dewormer and used for both internal parasites and external parasites. It's used all the time, by farmers, who have livestock, horses, pigs, cows.

Stromectol is the med prescribed by doctors. It is being used off label for use in resistant scabies. The first med that the doctors prescribe is Permethrin 5% cream. Doctors are apprehensive about prescribing ivermectin, as they are unfamiliar with it.

Vets use it all the time. It kills alot of the parasites that infest dogs and cats.

Hi Joe - this would probably be a good time to bring up using horse paste ivermectin orally vs. topically. I've seen threads here that indicate most are using it with a mixture of water topically, some are using 100% topically - but another said she noticed a real difference when taking it orally for 30 days or something. Any idea how people are taking this orally? Water dilution or something?

I'm using stromectol without a whole lot of success - it clears up rashes and makes things nice for a few days but ehh - they come back. I honestly think i need a iver-3 days later - perm - 3 days later something else combo to just keep hitting them.

The ingredients are ivermectin. I just know the people who have taken ivermectin here have specified which kinds are safer or at least known safe to take. So I was curious whether anyone had used this.
I know that vets prescribe it for cats and dogs. I also know that permethrin is the first line to use and of all the other creams available.
Thanks for your response, but honestly, it didn't really address the specific question I was asking. I appreciate your time though! I typed my question quite late at night though and probably wasn't that clear.
Also, to the other person who talked about the paste, I know pepole have said they used the paste on their skin - but I don't think that it's known to work even in some off-label sense like that. I was talking about oral "for animals" ivermectin being used orally - versus convincing an unknowledgable unyielding doctor to prescribe stromectol after they would only give one tube of permethrin for ONE USE, didn't recomend laundering anything, didn't suggest a reapplication of permethrin, and gave nothing else for other family members. The other option is ordering some things from a random place in India. Not sure whether I trust vet meds or random gray/black market pharmacies more. I definitely trust them more than I trust most doctors opinion of how bad insects/parasites can be on your life.

I know all the basics and intermediate scabies stuff...just wanted to ask this particular question about that particular product.
Thanks though!

Simon ekf,
Your question was clear as day.
I don't know about that one. If the ingred is only iver that's good. Don't take mixtures.
I only buy the apple flavored one and the box isn't as wide. If I don't see mine in a feedstore and I can't browse comfortably alone, I leave. If you can find itchygirl she'd know.
I think I would take it if its only iver. Take at night 9pm? with a glass of milk or some fat...butter, spoon of sour cream etc. 4 hours after dose is the fullest effect so time it to let you sleep in peace. Take for your weight its on the tube and a little more. Dose and a half.
Someone here took the whole tube and had a big big headache.

I would like to know if you only have 3 pill of Iver. Will it help? My prescripion says that it may cause dizziness and take with water ....also to take on a empty stomach? Please tell me what is the best thing to do? Also I read you dont take a bath after taking for so many hours... Is this right? Help me please to take this right. Also buggie, joe or someone tell me the names of the paste that is good to take? How do you take it? Needless to say I am a little worried about taking this although I have helped give the dogs and cattle this many times. I thank you guys for any information you can give me

Hi Merry Beth. The dosage for ivermectin is 200 micrograms per kilo of body weight, which doesn't mean anything if you don't know. So, to make it easy for the Stromectol. If you weigh 150 pounds, then you take the zero off of the end of 150 and that gives you 15 mg., for one dosage. If the stromectol is in 3 mg. tablets, then you would take 5 of those tablets. The stromectol comes in different dosages. One is 3 mg. tabs. One is 6 mg. tabs. So, if you weigh 120, take the zero off and you get 12. you would take 4 of those 3 mg. tabs, if you weigh 120. You should talk to a doctor about dosage and a prescription for this med.

Yes, you keep the med in your system as long as you can, and don't wash it off. Don't bath for 24 hours, or longer if you can stand it.

Keep a good scabicide on your skin, in addition to taking the iver orally.

You always drink plenty of water when taking meds. Yes, good to take on an empty stomach. Good to take before bed, as it makes you sleepy. You should checked out by a doctor to see if you are fit enough to take this med. And have it prescribed by a doctor.

Joe thank you for responding. I have 3 Iver pills @ 3mg. each.
I know that I weigh more than that. My dematologist gave me 2 tubes of Eurax cream and 3 pills of Ivermectin. I feel hopeless.
I will be out over $500. geesh I am assuming that the 3 pills will not hurt me. Yes I am on meds. And my body has been through
much to much in the last months since October 2009. I am feeling better and depression is much better since the weather has gotten nice. Can someone suggest other things I can do to get these out of my body and out of my skin. I think that maybe that is where mine started. Thanks so much.

I bought the ivercare and was wondering if on top of taking a dose orally I could perhaps make my own topical cream by mixing a dose in with lotion and putting in on as well?
