Ok, thanks. I'm almost out of perm, so I'll save that for just the nose and use BB until my next shipment comes in. Maybe my family physician can score me some tomorrow. Thanks.

It's a very weird feeling. Not like anywhere else on the body. I'm not enjoying it one bit. lol

Oh yeah,

I was going to mention to you and anyone else having feet troubles....I went to the beauty supply store and bought some 100 grain files and filed my heels and feet down real good. I know they say that thin skin makes it easier for the mites to penetrate, but I think it makes the meds harder to penetrate. I figure they're already in there, so may as well make it easier on the meds.

Of course if you don't have rough, callused heels, it's probably not necessary....but they work much better than any loofa or scrubber around. Plus you can soak them in alcohol or bleach.

Does dry cleaning kill mites? if not, do you know why? Has anyone noticed a diference?

That's a big NO. I wasted a lot of money dry cleaning and being reinfested by my freshly dry cleaned clothes. Kittycat said the same thing. Maybe it killed them back in the old days, before they became these super-mites. Why? My guess is that the dry cleaning fluid is only on the clothes a short period of time, maybe if it's left on for several hours or days and the clothes were saturated in it, it might kill them.

Thanks Scratch, I think you're right. The heels are one of the listed body parts that are prone to mites, now that I recall reading that somewhere. I'm guessing that the thicker skin doesn't break out in the allergic rash, like the thinner skin does. I had really bad sores on my insteps, of course the doctors all said that wasn't scabies, but they didn't know what it was.

I'll work on my heels, thanks!

Boy I have. It's ON!!
I file them down, pour on the turp then scrub them down with the apricot scrub. My feet have never felt better.
Im probably jinxing myself by even saying this, but something is working and in a quick way. I don't know whether or not it was the aggressive perm/iver combo. Closing off my house and putting the kid in here with me where I can monitor everything she touches....not showering after iver and perm, or the turp, but I feel great. I don't itch anywhere. My legs are almost clear....just some light scars. My stomach and breasts were under attack last week, and I'd totally wear my bikini at this point. If I can get the ones on my arms to settle down, I'm vacation ready. The turp is really working on them and drying them out. I just had them infected by picking stuff out trying to see something under the scope. I have real high hopes of actually feeling human for our vacation next week. I'm not stopping any of the meds, but the turpentine has been a miracle for me. It dries up the lesions in one or two swipes with a qtip.

Sam,BT,2scratch & anybody else who has an opinion:
What is the best thing to spray on your carpet at or work or car? I have been using Lysol but it doesn't work well anymore. I'm tired of being bit and may need to change to something else. I just want to stop them bite by bite.
Thanks, MIS

I've used Borax on my car mats. You could purchase some Frontline Spray to use at work. I've not used it and I have no idea if it stinks. According to my vet Fronline Spray kills sarcoptic mites. It can be purchased online from Jeffers.com or other animal supply online stores. The local pet stores don't seem to carry it.

Frontline doesn't smell too bad, but Borax ground into the carpet with a broom has really worked in my house and my vehicle. I also spray 91% alcohol all around my house all day long. I can't stand the smell of bleach, so all the vinly bed covers and furniture covers get hosed down with it. I also do my high thread count pillow cases with 91% and it's worked great. I saturate them daily though.

Mis, how long have you been at this?

I've read it somewhere, but my Dad said Seven Dust is ok for the house. I would have went to that next if the Borax didn't work.

Thanks BT & 2 scratch! I appreciate the info.
I will order some Frontline tonight and take Borax to tommorrow to work. Last time I used Borax it made the little bitty mites made and I can't wait to do it again. You girls are great, thanks. Mis

I am going to be honest here. I am not saying this is what you should do I am not a doctor, I'm just giving advice as to what I did. I have some kind of mite What ever kind of mite it is it's still a mite. Almost the same symptoms. At first when this all started I was infested down in my privates too. Inside outside you name it. I took the oral iver and rubbed it in around the pubic area. I took a little on a q tip and put it inside. I also used a medicated douch. I did this for about two week's every other day. That part of me now is cure. I have no problems in the private area at all now. I never mentioned this before because it was kind of private, but I know how you feel and its not fun. This is just what I did and by no means am I telling you to do this. Please use your own judgment.

MIS - I've been spraying the perm spray, I have Martins and another that is 33% perm, but I dilute it to about 7% in the car carpet only on the drivers side. I can't do anything at work. But here's my thinking, then the bottoms of my shoes might pick up some of the smell of the perm - it really stinks, and protect the mites from wanting to get on my shoes if they are in the carpet at work. Leave the windows down if you do that because the perm really smells and you don't want to breathe too much of it.

Hi Sam,(HELP)
I am about to be embarrassed at work & probably let go soon. I usually stay by myself but there are always meetings to go to that I make an excuse to get out of. I don't want to contaminate anyone.

I have had all the symptoms of scabies....except no burrows. This happened to me 3 months ago and now it's happening again. It's really embarrassing and scary too. Can I get an opinion from you? What can I do to get rid of this?

I have noticed a feeling of things jumping up & down on my body(racing up & down) Sometimes it feels like a very slight jump or something hitting me. There are times when it feels like water or mist hitting my body.

If it was everynow & then, I could live with this but it's all the time and seems to get worse when people are around. It is very distracting & hard to concentrate on work when this is going on.

My co-worker told me today, it seems like there is a nat in the office that tried to hit her. She was standing about 2 feet way from me. I know it was coming from me. Tonight I slathered myself in perm and tommorrow I clean.

What the hell is this? Do you think it is lice or sometype of mite.

At the end of the day, I scratch my along the edge of my bra and I had scratch marks and small red dots.
They could be bites.

This is driving me crasy. I can go anywhere or see anybody. What do you think?

Your slightly insane & still itchy friend, MIS

I went over my picture journals and my written journals. The perm treatments usually were followed by a breakout within 2 days. As a matter of fact when this all started, I only had it on my thighs for almost a month and a half, only on the thighs...a day & 1/2 after the first perm treatment was when the zig zag marks traveled up to the pantylines, and you know the rest of the story.

I do believe that perm just pisses them off, or they run from it or something. I'm not putting anymore of that crap on me as it's done nothing but make it worse. BB was what made me feel and look the best.....with iver, too I guess.

Ok Sam....

If I live to be a hundred I'll never understand the scarring. I've scratched the tops off of a gazillion mosquitoes, tick and chigger bites in my life and even had them infection. I've scratched poison ivy til it bled......and all of that goes away in a week or so. Why does every bump leave a scar. Doesn't matter if I pick, don't pick...medicate or don't medicate.....scars. Just doesn't make any since. Hubby had that one little patch of like 4 bumps back in April. They dried right up when he took the iver, but do you know even HE still has the four scars.

I wonder what is so bad ass about these little mo-fo's?

My upper thighs look HORRIBLE -- large marks from the dermatitis reaction to the mites. They are fading though.

Maybe it is bird mites. I think Jackie said that bird mites "jump." But my doctor said you would be able to see rat and bird mites with your eyes. Could be some kind of animal mite.

They are evil creatures from hell, that's why. My uneducated guess would be that the mites live off the sebum under the skin, where the other things do not. Maybe it's the missing skin sebum in that area that makes a scar. Good question for a good derm, oh yeah, if we could find one. There must be a reason, post scabies dermatitis is listed in the medical journals.

I don't know, maybe it really is something in your office and you're not the only one experiencing it?

I wouldn't worry about contaminating other people, just worry about yourself, sounding selfish here, but I have not infected anyone else. Go to the meetings. Complain about bugs in your office if you have to. You could try putting one of those electronic bug repellants in your office.

You did have a diagnosis of scabies though, was that from a scrape or just a visual?

I don't know about the other things you are feeling, maybe your skin is just super alert from the mites. Have you checked the seams of your clothes for body lice? That's where they live and lay eggs, but I think hot water washing kills them, not sure.
