Im in the same boat youre in right now. Have no idea how I got them but they are horrible. I used the permethrin cream, as did my roomate who is covered as well. Still itching and still noticing new bumps. I've bleached, nixed, hotwashed, and boraxed everything but my body and still noticing new spots. I read that you can mix a mild detergent with borax and water and wash yourself with it but am too afraid of what that my do to my skin. I'd almost try anything right now - this is miserable. Maybe I haven't given the treatment (applied two days ago) enough time to work.
The dead scabies and their feces will continue to make you itch for a little while, as their feces are what causes the itch in the first place. Apparently one can continue to itch for up to four weeks after everything is dead.

I caught scabies from a hotel and applied the permethrin 5% creme once, washed everything the next two mornings. Then I waited 4 more days before using the rest of the creme (the other 30g) and again washed EVERYTHING the next two days.
I also changed my computer chair, put on different sheets/spreads than what I was using.

It has been about 3 weeks since the second treatment, almost everything is completely cleared up and I occasionally scratch maybe once every 2-3 days... but that could just be any old itch.

This creme worked, and as mentioned here and elsewhere two treatments about 5-7 days apart pretty much guarentees most of the males being killed AND then the babies that hatch afterwards if they were incubated.

I'd say if its really bad, do this and the pill as I'm sure combined you can't lose.

Hope that helps everyone, i've never been more relieved...

I found what form does though !!!
I go down to the local store and pick up a packet of Large Dog tick and flea stuff. look on the back and find the stuff that says 45% Permethrin.
Also get a Large jar of Petro jelly. Get a small paper bowl, and some rubber gloves.

Cut the Permethrin strips (all 4) and pour into the bowl. Make sure you have the gloves on. Open the petro jelly and scoup about half of the jar out and put it into the bowl. Slowly mix it in with the Permethrin liquid. Mix for about 5 minutes.

Take the final mixture and apply it head ( lightly in the hair) to toe.(except in the eyes and mouth ) Put on some long johns, socks, and then use some socks for your hands.

Go to sleep, leave on for at least 8 hours.

Wake up, and wash all off !!!!

You will find the majority of the bug bumps gone, and your skin will be soft.

As with all Permethrin, you may feel itchy for the next day. But it will be a different feel of itch, and not a crawly one.

I have done this several times, until I finally found out my cat was the one re-infecting me.

Also put a garbage bag over your pillow !! Then the pillow case, which you should change frequently. Also plastic over the mattress. These buggers are really small and they crawl through clothes and pillows.

I stopped doing the bath as it just allowed them to come out and spread all over,
they are "cold-blooded" creatures, so keep the body cool, and put powder in your damp areas.
Also hydrogen peroxide dabs, which makes them dry up !!

Still do the Arm & Hammer thing in the wash, HOT water, a little bleach, and hottest dry cycle you have.

CHECK THE PETS !!!!!

Also the Invermectin (Stromectrol) works great, but it only kills what is in the skin and feeding on your blood, works for about 7 days. You still have to kill the eggs that are on or in the skin that haven't hatched. That's where the Permethrin comes in.

Please, can you tell the exact quantities you used for the mix of permethrin and vaseline? Or at least how much product is in a "large packet" and in a "large jar"? And what is the exact brand of the packet of "tick & flea"? Is it in powder form?
Thank you!

Excuse me but the fact that permethrin didn't work for you doesn't imply that it won't work for anybody else. In fact it worked for me and altough didn't cure completely, it saved me from being superinfested. Besides there are so many people who got cured only with permethrin. So don't forget that you have birdmites and not scabies, and this is a scabies forum. I know that you are pissed off but if you want to shout out loud you have a thread for that. Please stop talking nonsense about permethrin!

I am posting this hoping that some people will find some releif. About 3 wks ago my 5yrold son was diagnosed with scabies. I imediatley did alot of research on the topic and found that the practitioner( his regular doctor wasnt avail) had misdiagnosed him! Before I found out the real problem, my son and I had apply the perm cream. We did the whole nine and even washed everything in the house in hot water! While doing research, myself and my son didnt have any symptoms of scabies; we didnt have any signs of burrows, or none where they would normally be. A week later I found out that we had bedbugs, which was alot worst and more of a headache than the scabies were. Anyways alot of people beleive that they are still infested with scabies after the perm cream treatment. I can say that the side affects of the perm cream was awful! I felt alot of tingling sensations beleiving that mites were crawling all over me, well come to find out that wasnt even the case, so I am writing to let you know that you may beleive that something is biting after the perm cream but its actually the creams side affect, trust me coming from someone who never had scabies, but lived with the thought that I did for a whole week.( even though it would be a hell of alot better than bedbugs) Look at the brighter side someone is always going through worst!

permethrin works only if you catch it early .i do not believe that most of the people on this forum has scabies either .scabies are not something a person cariies around for months and years when they are continuously trying their dambdest to get rid of them on a daily basis .more than likely this is not a scabies forum either .it is a forum for what everybody is dealing with that simply doesnt go away .im just trying to say permethrin is very poison and long term use of it is very very toxic .it runs through the skin into the bloodstrem .i used it for months back to back and suffered from more side effects than i could handle .if you have used a round of permethrin and havnt ben cured then i think its time to try something different .im glad for anybody who got rid of these things with whatever they used .i even had my dr tell me you can not use it all the time for a long time .it poisons your blood .i have high blood pressure since ive ever used it .if someone got cured with it .then yeah, scabies for sure and i say hoooray for them .
you really need to read upon the side effects of long term permethrin creams .im giving my opinion and most of the people on this forum have /or sufferering exactly as i did for 3 long years ,i think i know a little bit about it .yes!!! im mad but you are not sounding very pleasant.im mad for the people who get no help and i look at that as a possitive thing .your insults can not hurt me .ive done been through the ultimate pain .hope you get better and you have a nice night . note;;;regular skin scabies do not linger for years and make you mentally and physically unable to live.SORRY .

OK so at least now you're admitting that it works.

OK, but if new people begin to read the forum because they think they have scabies (beause the name of the forum is "Scabies") and then read what you posted, they won't try permethrin scared about the fact that is it a "POISON" and "DOESN'T EVEN WORK" and they will be "POISONING THEIR BODIES FOR NOTHING", so you are dissuading them from trying a treatment that might work for them. Therefore you aren't helping those people.

I'm NOT saying that anyone who has other problem that isn't scabies can't post anything. Everybody can post what they want as long as it is constructive. And of course I'm not dismissing any of the great info you have posted about the Arm & Hammer, because you are helping people with that.

I know very well all the side effects, and you know what? I didn't suffer a single side effect from permethrin, and I've done 7 rounds in about 8 months. It's obvious that some people may suffer side effects, but you are suggesting that everybody is going to get the same side effects as you, which makes no sense because everybody is different. The key is being careful and not overdose, specially people that have other issues and can't metabolize well certain substances.

I'm not saying you don't have any idea about anything, of course you have! I'm just saying that you were exaggerating about permethrin. And I'm also suffering and I also have enough knowledge and experience about scabies, because I do have scabies.

Lyl, and any others that want this information !!!

I used Adams brand "Spot On" flea and tick control, for Large dogs. Their are other brands that will work also. Look at the package and make sure it says Permethrin 45% as the active ingredient.

It comes in 4 small plastic vials, which you have to cut the tops off to pour them out.

I used a large jar of Vaseline 100% petroleum jelly, and any other brands would also work.

I got a small paper bowl, put on some gloves, cut the 4 vials and poured them in the bowl. Then mixed in about 1/2 of the jar of jelly. Mix slowly for about 5 minutes, just squish between your fingers and get all around the bowl.

I spread that all over my body, for at least 8 hours, and then washed it off.

Cover your body with long johns or something, and use socks over your hands.

I put on a garbage bag over my pillow and then a pillow case I could wash later.

Other things I have found out !!!!
Keep plastic over your pillows, and mattress.

CHECK YOUR PETS !!!!! I was my cat that gave it to me !!!
Use hand disinfectant bottles everywhere !!
Use hot water on laundry, arm and hammer/borax and dry on super hot cycle.

These buggers are COLD blooded, and require YOU to live. Keep your body cool and dry as much as possible. Put on your oils and stuff then put talcum powder over to keep it dry.

I found the baths didn't kill them, but allowed them to come out and go elsewhere on me. Showers day and night!! New towels each time !!

Also the Ivermectin (Stromotrol) works great, but it only kills what is feeding on your blood, it does not kill the eggs. You need the Permethrin or something else to do that. Using both is what is needed.

Good luck !!!!

I'm glad to hear that you got better, and I didn't say that I don't want her to help people. What I don't want her to do is spread wrong information, and that's what she did about permethrin.
BEAR wrote:

There's only two ways of poisoning with permethrin: one is overdosing and the other one is being allergic to it. So if she poisoned it's only because she overdosed and not because permethrin is a deadly poison. Every chemical is a poison if you take more than your body can handle. If she wasn't smart enough to realize that she was using it too much and too often until she ended up in the hospital, then I'm sorry for her. She must have used TONS of permethrin to smell like that for two months. That is called OVERDOSING.
BEAR wrote:

Again, I didnīt say that she isn't kind or that she is not trying to help. I only said she was wrong doing that sort of comments about permethrin. Period.

If you got your life back I'm happy for you, I hope to get back mine soon, and of course I will continue using permethrin because it helps me lots.

If she was so upset about getting me upset, then why didn't she talk to me? I replied her first reply, so why couldn't she simply reply me again? I only stated my arguments. I have nothing personal against her. In fact I thanked her for the A&H idea and for all the support and encouragement she gives to other people to get cured. Maybe you should read carefully other threads in this forum. I have nothing against her constructive posts, but if she says something that is clearly wrong, then I feel duty bound to correct her and give a reasonable explanation.
I'm sorry that she had to suffer for so long time, but her suffering is not an excuse to automatically validate all her statements.

I only told the truth, but sometimes the truth is tough to hear...

Anyways, I'm not going to say anything more about this subject because I think I already said all I needed to say. Take it the way you want it, but please stop accusing me of things I didn't say.
Thank you!

Thank you very much! But I was also interested in the exact quantities, I mean, how much jelly comes in a large jar? 16 oz? 8 oz? The final concentration of permethrin will depend on how much jelly you used.
Thanks again!

I meant to put down the size of the jar of Petro jelly, it was 13 oz. So about half would be 6.5 oz.

Hope that helps ??
