Bizarre situation. I seriously doubt that she began with any intent of ripping anyone off. More than likely, she was looking for attention or sympathy... similar to women who make false claims of pregnancy often do. Then, as word spread, she found herself under pressure to sustain the lie or face the embarassment of being labeled a liar. So the hole she dug for herself got bigger and bigger.

Sad thing when people start off with what seems like an innocent enough lie.. then it snowballs and they cannot escape from it. But just as often happens when women fake a pregnancy... time itself will give them away, unless they take drastic measures, such as those women who have killed and kidnapped yet unborn babies.
