I had the Green light laser for BPH 7-20-09 and so far I am pleased. I can go much better. I had very little pain. Passed blood clots for 2 or 3 days but that has stopped.I believe the results of the surgery depends so much on the doctor and to some degree on your over-all health. My surgeon was Dr. John Pickens and at this stage I will say he did an outstanding job. I hope to continue to improve.

Had green light procedure in late September 2009 and while my recovery period, in terms of blood and clots, lasted several weeks, I must say that the ultimate result is extraordinary. I'm 62 and my urinary tract function is now as good as it was when I was 30.

Had green light surgury in August of 09. Was pleased at first, able to quickly urinate in 15 seconds or less, much better than taking a minute to empty the bladder. Amonth or two after surgury i soon realized that i am going as frequently as before and still obviously not able to empty the bladder, i am leaking when i stand up, leaking when i sit, leaking, leaking leaking. Hate the results now, at least before i could control not wetting myself. My doctor quickly coverd his position by saying "oh, you must have a spastic bladder or something else that is causeing this.
would i do it again, probably not, think i would try meds first. Not being able to ejaculate anymore is a real psycological downer too.
Life goes on

I am scheduled to have prostate green light laser surgery. I have not read anything positive on any site. My symptoms have been urinary frequency and getting up 3 to 4 times per night. I am sexually active. Has anyone had a great outcome with this surgery and how did it effect your sex life.

mtaylor - did you ever have this done? I am curious as to your results. I hope it worked out well for you (assuming you went through with it).
Please post results and feedback.
Thanks, Dave F.

I had the surgery 2.5 years ago and frankly, wish I could reverse it. The official Green Laser site claimed that only a modest percentage of men would not be able to ejaculate through the penis. I spoke with at least 4 urologists who perform the procedure. All told me ejaculate would return into bladder. My erections are no where near as intense.

Worst of all, I still get up at least 3 or 4 times per night. I was also informed by my urologist, AFTER he performed the procedure, that most guys need to have the procedure again in 3 to 4 years!

DON'T DO IT! That's all I can say!

I had the green light laser surgery in April 2010 and had fantastic results. I think the key is the skill of the Doctor (how many procedures they have performed). My doctor had a great deal of experience with this surgery. He told me to allow about a 12 week recovery time and he was right on the money. I'm doing very well and have had no negative effects. My advice is to research the doctors who perform this surgery and go with one that has performed many surgeries of this kind.
