breathing techniques during pregnancy and labour

A good way to stay calm and to improve concentration during pregnancy is to practice : Anuloma Viloma, or alternative Nostril Breath:

It is really simple:

- hold the fingers of the right hand in front of the face
- the right thumb is above your right nostril, the middle finger above the left.
- breath in through your left while closing the right, close the left, breath out through the right.
- breath in trough the right, out through the left...

and so on, these 2 digits control the flow of breath in the nostrils by alternately pressing on one nostril, blocking the flow of the breath and then the other..

It has a calming effect, relieves anxiety and improves concentration.
