Would love to communicate with you Dennis. My mother was diagnosed w pancreatic CA in August of 2010. She was given 3-6 months to live. Through chemo and strict diet, and much prayer, love and support, she is still with us. She has yet to find someone who can relate to her. She would like to try going off of chemo but is scared to try it. Could you share some more of your story. What do you eat? She is very tired of SALAD!!! Thank you!!

There is a clinical trial at UCSD Moore Cancer Center called anti-angiogenesis. I believe it is for stage 4 patients. We were seeing Dr. Tony Reid. My mom was too weak to participate but I highly recommend it.

We manage nausea with a subcutaneous insertion (24 measurement). I give her .15ml of Haloperidol with a syringe and flush it with .5ml of sodium chloride. For pain management, she is on fentanyl patches of 125mg every 2 days because she would throw up everything going in. Plus she is on oral solution morphine 1ml. She usually takes it 3 times day at about 8 hour intervals. She is also on Lovenox injections 1 per day for blood clots. Of course, she is on creon enzymes to help her digest food.

Diet is everything. What she was able to digest yesterday she may not today. What works for her, quinoa pasta, white rice, traditional oatmeal mixed in blender, scrambled eggs cooked with a little shredded anaheim pepper (no seeds) for taste, soups (carrot, squash, chicken broth with rice). For carrot or squash, I boil the veges in enough water to make soup with salt. I blend in mixer with a little soy milk. I used to add a little chicken flavoring and philadelphia cheese but she can no longer digest. I used to make my mom juices with carrots, celery, apple, beets, and orange 3x per day. This gave her a lot of energy as well as us. She can no longer digest fruits or carrots in juice form.

We learned that there is no cookie-cutter regime of chemo or medicine to take. Each body is different. So if an oncologist suggests the same dosage that he or she gives his patients, I would be curious. The dosage and times chemo is given varies per person based on how their liver is doing, etc.

Because the pancreas controls insulin and blood sugar he probably needs more protein in his diet. Has he tried salmon with 1/2 sweet potatoe and dark green leafy vegetables? I have my Mother on a diet where I balance the protein, carbs and fats with every meal. It helps to stabalize her better.

There is a compound that has gotten ALOT of attention from Cancer Research groups over the last 2 years called Sulforaphane. It is found in Brassica vegetables and the highest concentration of this compound can be found in broccoli sprouts. I eat broccoli sprouts every day to take advantage of this incredible natural compound. Simply Google sulforaphane and pancreatic cancer and you will see what is going on. I tell people that it's the "Swiss Army Knife" of anti-cancer compounds. It truly stuns me in regard to what this stuff can do relative to cancer. So far, I am a 3 year survivor of Stage I PC (had the Whipple procedure). It's easy to sprout your own too!! Stay focused and use what nature has provided us. Do the research and you will find your answer!!!

My father went through a Whipple 2 years ago when a scan detected a tumor blocking the bile duct. After the operation, he got back home and resumed an active lifestyle.

Two years later (now), he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer after noticing abdominal pain and constant diarrhea. As of now, he has practically loss the use a one kidney because of a mass that has been obstructing it.

Are there any suggestions in diet which would help control/ reduce the spread?

I have done some reading and would like to know if Nigella Sativa (black cummin), Manuka honey and raw potatoe juice are good to implement?

He will be starting chemo very soon. We are afraid that his body will be too waek to take the therapy and would like to change his diet to include more beneficial nutrition in order to help him through the chemo and manage the symptoms.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Brian

My beautiful mum 59 yrs old has had pancreatic cancer for 5mths now, after massive surgery. Losing 22 kilos. Journey so far, soul destroying. I am on a desperate mission amongst the rest of you to find any inch of longevity.
So far the information I have researched indicates to avoid sugars as they tend to feed the cancer. And carbs that turn to sugar. Raw vegies are good, yellow and green, cauliflower, onions, apples kale and broccoli, fibre rich, cabbage, brussel sprouts. Stevia as a sugar alternative as it's natural plant based. Eggs and cheese fantastic, not low fat! Fish, Chicken, bacon good. Turmeric, Green tea good. Avoid red meat especially anything cooked chargrilled, as it also causes digestive problems. Mum also suffers from chrones disease just to complicate things further.
I'm hoping I am on the right track from what research I have gathered so far,,, but please offer me your thoughts, opinions or own findings to assist.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this cruel disease.

I have stage 3 pancreatic cancer. I'm 36 and was diagnosed in March of 2012. I've had the whipple surgery, 6 weeks of radiation and am still receiving chemotherapy. I've lost 50 lbs. due to stomach pain caused by certain foods. I take creon before my meals now to help with digestion and pain. I can't tolerate greasy or fatty foods. Foods that cause gas also cause me lots of pain. I had to give up my love of Mexican food:(. I basically just try to eat healthier these days. I also drink Paw Paw tea daily. It isn't well known b/c it supposedly cures cancer, and the government dosen't want a cure for cancer. If anyone would like more info on it, just ask.
