Addicted to Pain-Killers?

[KITTEN]I started taking 2 vicodin a day for HEADACHE pain...soon I was good on 2 a day ( for 2 years ) until a major dental procedure. I startred taking more..before I knew it, I was up to 10 pills / 100 mg a day. Been on them for 4 years. I finally came clean with my doctor ( refills were being called in too soon and I was getting into fights with her staff. She actually severed our relationship. Thats when I came clean with her. We worked out a plan to tapper me off. This was in October 2006. I am now on 6 5mg a day. I am prescriped 60 for 2 weeks, however they never last longer than a week.. I have no idea how I can kick this last step. I actually have NONE today..and she will not fill it until tomorrow. IM TERRIFIED..I NEED SUPPORT. I am terrified of the withdrawl. The worse part is, for two years I was great on 2 a day, they really kept my headaches under control. The rebound headaches I get when I dont take them for a couple hrs are awful. I have had these headaches since I was 3 and no doctor can figure out why. Right now I am so desperate, I am thinking of going to a CARENOW or PRIMACARE and fake an injury...I am ashamed. I take xanex, adderall and wellbutrin..have for years and never became dependant..PLEASE HELP ..I NEED ADVICE..SUPPORT..I cant go through withdrawl.To make things worse..my husband has no clue..my parents were deceased when I was 11..I have no family..I am doing this alone...and I am a bodybuilder..HEALTH is my life. Funny..one women said to me.." if I looked like you..id be on top of the world"..I looked at her and said.." if you only knew...if you only knew" I never did elaborate.

I assume by now you have figured it out since the post is pretty old. Hopefully you are on subs and no longer having to stress about faking injuries, etc. On the off chance that you will read this, I was wondering if you could recommend a good subutex doctor in the fort worth area? I know from past experiences there is a significant difference between doctors that prescribe such medication and was hoping to avoid it if at all possible. I live in Keller so anywhere in the DFW area is fine. Thanks.

[what should I do]

I just found out my daughter is addicted to loratab. She was takinging 10 a day. She has hocked everthing she owns & lost her home last week. She has a baby.How can I help?

Sorry about your situation. Does your daughter want to break this habit or continue using? The good news is that the drug she is using, hydrocodone, is one of the least severely addicting narcotics. The habit can be broken simply by reducing the dosage gradually down to a very small amount, say 15mg.(5mg. 3 times a day) with minimal withdrawal sickness. Do not be talked into something like the so called drug replacement "therapy" of methadone; it is the most severely addicting of narcotics.
The gravest danger of using this drug, lortab, is the amount of tylenol it contains; half a gram per pill. This means that your daughter is taking 5 grams a day. Tylenol overdose can destroy the liver, literally, and without a transplant it is fatal. There are groups like AA/NA, Rational Recovery, etc. that your daughter can attend for support in going through this.

I agree with ex. she should be able to wean herself off without other drugs. Several years ago I had a vicodin habit after several surgeries and had been taking about 15 of them a day for a couple of years. I weaned myself off them in about a month with no withdrawal symptoms at all. But.... she has got to want to do it. Good luck.
