Hi. I have big legs from sports-which also means i have a lot of muscle on my legs. I was wondering how I could thin my legs. Thanks!

i have the same exact problem. i play a lot of sports and have really buff legs, i'd like to lose some of it on my thighs. People are always saying build muscle to burn fat.. but when i work out (even when im doing slow cardio like jogging) my legs always seem to get bigger.

hi all.. the best advice is to lower (significantly) your protein intake. if you eliminate meats, poultry and dairy from your diet, you will lose muscle.

When your body grows it gains muscle and fat together. When you lose weight, you lose some of both as well. If you are physically active and eat right, you will tend to burn the fat faster and retain the muscle. Most of the time physically active people stay thin because of there overall demand for calories. As a muscle grows, it's demand for calories increases and because of that there is a practical limit to how muscular a person will become.
A large muscle is it's own worst enemy. If you use that muscle a lot, especially large muscles like the quadriceps, you will tend to get smaller. This is why a bodybuilder tends to limit the number of reps he or she puts on a given muscle and very carefully limits his/her physical activity.
So it's actually possible you may be able to lose the added mass by doing more of the same things you enjoy rather than less.
Realize that some people are very metabolically efficient and they tend to grow even though they exercise a lot, It's not a bad thing if power is your desired outcome.
Eat smalll amounts frequently and try a mild stimulant like coffee or green tea, provided you don't suffer from high blood pressure or hypertension.
Look at pro athletes like cyclists, runners, cross country skiers and see which ones have the shape you want.

Hope this helps!!

Loose the Red Meat, Keep some fish and Turkey, Just a little of each You need the protein. Cut your calorie intake to 1200 a day eat more veggie's and drink a lot of water, I have a 800 calorie day diet and I eat a lot of Veggie's and I am full at each meal.I have lost 220 pounds in 28 months with I weight 200 pounds now with 50 to go for final goal.

Maybe you should try not to be so active in sports for right now. I promise you the muscles will go away.

I'm the same age with you, but I'm 5'4 weighing in at 125 pounds. Starving yourself will not help. try not to work out for long periods of time. Try maybe 30 minutes of walking 4 days a week, and eat 3 proper meals each day. and try not to work out with weights. The muscle fat should come off. and lay off the protein and dairy products

Don't do anything. Just keep on growing, and the muscle fat will come right off because of your linear.

Now you're just being plain mean, stupid, and dumb. starving yourself to death does not help. well yes the weight does come off, but it comes off extremely too fast. and if it comes off too fast, then then all the weight will come right back on faster.

okay I weigh 90 pounds and a lot of people say that I need to gain weight and I dont want to because I dont want to weigh more than 100 pounds because then I would think that I'm fat. I mean I exercise a lot and I dont like my legs at all because they have a lot of muscles and I want my legs to be thin and I dont know how to lose muscles. I am kind of sick. I dont know what to do. I need some help I am very strong and very fast. I run like 15 miles per hour and I love to run. I am an athlete. Also I lose pounds and when I bent down to get something, many people can see my spinal cord and my ribs and I like it but no else does. So they always tell me to gIn weight but I won't let that happen. I like how I look and sometimes I don't.

hi everyone! my problem is i got big legs because of muscles (from sports) & i have ulcer-gastro as well. since there are limitations on food intake like the meat, dairy, etc., how could i best lessen the bulk on my legs without sacrificing my sickness & thus, also having a healthier self. thanks!

I'm not overweight: healthy BMI and all, but I recently found out that the women in my family (me included) actually have TWO EXTRA MUSCLES in their legs: a heriditary trait.

I walk five kilometers every day (I started this 7 weeks ago) and have a low protein intake.

Is there any way I can slim out my legs, short of surgery? Cause I'm not seeing results.

Be very care of your low protein intake, I say this because during my wieght lose the last 3 years My protein dropped to almost to zero, One night 6 weeks ago I thought I was having a heart attack... Nope just zero protein..Be very carefull..

Your def going to die of heart failure if you keep that up. I suggest you get help, what your feeling isnt normal and although you feel it is, you need help understanding its not. Please get help because I assure you your heart will just stop beating because of electrolyte inbalance/strain and you will just drop down dead and then there would be no point to what you are doing, now will there? you will just be a dead skeleton rotting in the ground all because you wanted to be 'thin' is it really worth it?
