I have been taking Boniva for 2 years - and now need to have 17 teeth pulled - my Dentist is very concerned about Osteonecrosis - as am I. I wish my PCP would have said something prior to my beginning the Rx. My teeth have always been an issue - and by just "looking" at me, my PCP should have known I was going to need dentures. I am 56, went thru menapause early, 43 thru 50, and had a dexiscan of -30 in 2005. I am scared to death and do not know how to proceed....any advise?

Dear Eileen, please contact me at janaecid@hotmail.com and let me know how you are. My mother is in this situation and it's very serious and much safer not to have teeth pulled unless absolutely necessary! Please contact me either way. Thank you.

Dear Forum,
I have osteoporosis too, and have taken Fosamax. I became concerned about the long term effects and decided to look for an alternative. There is one! I found a Chinese Herbal Medicine called Xianling Gubao. It is hard to find here in the states, as it is under approval by our FDA at this time. It is offered in OTC form in China, however, and I have a supplier there. Unlike many Chinese Traditional Medicines, this one is manufactured by a highly respected firm who does clinical trials to verify the efficacy of their medicines. Xianling Gubao in its trials shows efficacy equal to the biophosphonates! It has no side effects, either! I have decided to try and market it, and have a website. If you are interested, I have links to the clinical trial information. The price is reasonable, considering shipping from China. Feel free to contact me for any information! mikedmonds@verizon.net mountainpharma@gmail.com Sincerely, Mike |

A clinical study was published in Osteoporosis International in January 2009. The title is "Milk ribonuclease-enriched lactoferrin induces positive
effects on bone turnover markers in postmenopausal women." It is a bio-replenishment supplement that reduces bone resorption markers by 20% and increases bone formation rate up to 40% within a 6 month period. There are no side effects. This is not a vitamin or a calcium supplement. I have posted the study at http://drshemuelisrael.com/R-ELF_NaiduStudy.p... |
