I think that's great. Now if only our human vets could receive adequate care.

Sure hope it worls. So many large breads and working dogs like German Sheperds suffer from this problem. What we learn with them may also work on humans.

But since it's stem cells we may get the religious crowd and the animal rights bunch involved. This could be a real mess.

Too bad the bushies banned stem cell research for humans! Thanks to religious nutjobs we are behind the rest of the civilized world in stem cell research!

I think this animal 'did his duty' and served his country, which is awesome! I say he deserves it! Now, if we could see adequate/proper med'l. treatment for our HUMAN vets...THAT would make me happy!! U.S. Vets deserve the BEST care our gov can give them!!!Yeah, Baby!!

The source for these cells is the animal's own fat tissue. It is being done successfully in humans in other countries, and it's been used in horses here for years. High success rate, low to no complications. Now I don't get why it costs $2000 for a dog, and $9000 for a human (in Texas) Gov. Perry of Texas had a similar procedure for his back - he had to travel to Japan to get it.
