Closing gaps in my teeth

I visited an orthodontist in Colorado to ask for a cosmetic procedure to close the gaps on my upper teeth (specifically upper 6). The orthodontist asked me a a series of spread out questions (including medical ones) which in retrospect I thought was odd (and profile building). he asked where I worked, what kind of job, how long I've lived here, and since when I wanted the procedure done.
He then examined my teeth and said the procedure was rather simple and he recommended Invisilign. He said it would actually come out cheaper in my case than the traditional metal braces. He indicated there was no frenum to remove, that they would have to file between my bottom teeth with diamond floss, pull it back a bit, and then retract the upper teeth which would cause all gaps to close. he said the back of my teeth are fine, they're tightly aligned. In total, he estimated 6 months from start to finish. He quoted me at $2997 and would take 1/2 from my insurance and 1/2 from me. The whole process was bizarre. The questions made me feel that they might be helping themselves to my money. What do you you guys think?
