What is scary is I have been given that drug a few times, mostly orally but when I was given it in the form of a shot I was never told this could happen. That is frightning. I feel sorry for this women.

I have seen EVAC on a first hand basis, the majority of the Paramedics are good at what they do, but there are some that need to be working at a used car lot, or flipping burgers. EVAC seeems to only care about the $$$$$ more than training.
Maybe Volusia County should monitor this outfit more, and offer more training and compasssion to patients. God Bless this woman ! |

Bless her heart. Paramedics get a bad rap at times...sad to say but this won't help matters.

Maybe people will think twice about calling an ambulance to go to a hospital for a "tummy ache"

IT IS TERRIBLE THAT THIS EVENT HAPPENED, BUT ALL THE PARAMEDICS SOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR WHAT ONE PARAMEDIC DID. AS A PARAMEDIC YOU ARE TAUGHT TO MAKE SURE THE IV IS PATENT BEFORE GIVING ANY MED. THE PARAMEDIC SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THE IV WAS IN AN ARTERY AND NOT A VEIN BY BLOOD RETURN AND THE COLOR OF THE BLOOD. DON'T LIMIT THE LIFE SAVING CAPABILLITY OF A WHOLE EMS SYSTEM BECAUSE OF ONE MEDIC. IT COULD BE YOUR FAMILY THAT NEEDS A MEDICATION THAT WAS TAKEN FROM THE PARAMEDICS AND COST THEM THEIR LIFE.

My grandmother was buried on August 30, 2008 as a result of phenergan injected into her artery. She went to the ER with a fractured pelvis, was injected with the phenergan, was in agony for 7 1/2 hours before a doctor would help her. The autopsy report says she died as a result of the complications caused from the gangrene in her right hand and forearm. FOR HER, we will make sure everyone who will listen will know this.
