MRSA has been passed around my home with our four children for about a year now. One of my twins just got out of the hospital today and the other was in back in April for the same thing (having an abcess drained). I wanted to share something that happened last night i nour hospital room that makes me furious and explains why it is so common. My little girl was in a room under contact percotion (like normal) for MRSA a nurse came in dressed in the yellow gown and blue gloves covering her uniform she had just finished dressing my childs surgery site (on her bottom) a second nurse dressed in same contact percaution came in and handed our nurse a pen to sign a paper on a clipboard. Our nurse with same gloves she just dressed the wound with took the pen and signed the paper handed it back and out the second nurse went. Now the pen is infected and no telling where she went with it. I let her know what she had just done probably would infect more children since we were in a childrens hospital, she got huffy and walked out..... no wonder this is spreading like the plaugue!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All,
I have been dealing with MRSA for 3 years now. The first year I would have the big "boils" but now they are much smaller. I use the bactrim ointment which helps.

The biggest help has been antiseptics.

I use Hebiclense to wash my body with (by suggestion of an infection specialist doctor). I have gallons of alcohol and hand sanitizer. When I feel that little itch of MRSA, I'm rubbing alcohol on it or at work I'm using the hand sanitizer to kill those micorbials on my face, leg, groin.

One way I stop the spread (because it's most contagious when pussy) is i put the bactrim on the boil/pus point and cover with a bandaid and change twice a day.

Good luck everyone.

Hi..I have been dealing with MRSA now for 2 years. I found that antibiotics only work temporarily and the boils still come back. If you notice a boil forming, DO NOT TOUCH IT> DO NOT SQUEEZE IT. I find that if you leave it alone, it will get a little sore but it will go away within a few days. I am going to try some herbal remedies. I will post back to let you know how they work.

Hi, I think i may have the community-transferred form of MRSA. It started as a relatively small, pimple kind of thing on my buttocks. I admit, I have never been the champion of good hygene. Naturally it seemed like just a normal pimple so i tried my natural pimple destroying methods. After reading vast information on MRSA now, i think i have actually worsened my situation by enterring the infection into my bloodstream, because recently i have had similar developments on my ear lobe, my forearm, and i have been having unusual internal pains, while stretching too far in certain directions or while urinating, etc...

What im reading is actually offering me some relief, as i thought the initial growth on my buttocks was most likely a tumor or worse. The growth was very hard and solid in nature, and i didnt expect any fluid to be in there, but i was wrong. What confuses me is that this dormant intial infection (i say dormant bc fluid will no longer come out of it, and the growth is not growing) is still like a tough little knot on my butt, about the size of a skittle. It isnt softening or fading.

The new developments are much different, the one on my ear lobe did the same thing to a much smaller scale and i feel that it is now dormant. The one on my arm is very deep. It is the only thing on me that really hurts. It started deep under my forearm muscles at the bone. Unlike the other ones, the one on my arm has the least resemblance of a boil or pimple, rather it is making my arm extremely sore and swelling outwards like i got hit with a lacrosse stick or something.
I will be in the docs office tomorrow bright and early to get tests done to see if my self-diagnosis is correct. stay tuned

WE TOOK MY 8-YEAR OLD SON TO THE E.R BACK IN JUNE BECAUSE OF A ABCESS ON HIS INNER THIGH. THEY DID SURGERY TO LANCE IT AND SENT US HOME WITH A PRESCRIPTION. ONE MONTH LATER HE GOT ANOTHER BOIL TO I TOOK HIM TO OUR FAMILY DOCTOR HE GAVE HIM BACTRIUM AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. HE HAD A ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE BACTRIUM SO THEY PUT HIM ON CLIDAMICIN(NOT SURE OF THE SPELLING). WELL SINCE THEN WE HAVE BEEN SEEN IN THE E.R. 5 TIMES AND WENT TO THE FAMILY DOCTOR 4 OR 5 TIMES. WE WENT BACK TO THE DR ON TUESDAY AND THE DR TOLD US AT THAT TIME MY SON HAD MRSA AND HAS HAD IT SINCE JUNE BUT I WAS NEVER TOLD. HE GAVE US ANOTHER PRESCRIPTION ON CLINDAMICIN AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. AS A MOTHER I AM CONCERNED WILL WE HAVE TI FIGHT THIS FOREVER? THIS IS THE THIRD ROUND OF CLINDAMICIN AND IT ONLY WORKS FOR TWO TO THREE WEEKS THEN WE GET ANOTHER OUT BREAK? WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET RID OF THIS AND ADVICE WILL BE GREAT.

I have wondered this also. I am a new dental hygiene grad and MRSA was never mentioned in any of my oral pathology classes. My first guess would be that it's probably a canker sore (apthous ulcer), since you said she is also having cold symtoms and her immune system may be weakened a bit right now. But, definately a good question!

My Mom's boyfriend had an abscess in his colon. He was in and out of the hospital for months. He had a drainage bag that came out of his belly button. The bag was constantly leaking or busting open. He was not as clean as he should have been.

My Mom and I both broke out with MRSA. I was hospitalized for four days with 3 abcesses. My Mom had 8 abscess all in one armpit from sharing a razor with her boyfriend. I got Vancomyzin in my IV. My Mom got Bactrim. We use Hipiclens and dissinfected both our houses. I was given cream for my nose.

We were clean for about a month. Then my 2 year old nephew that lives with my Mom got MRSA on his leg. Next I had it in my right armpit and my Mom got it back in her same armpit. The baby was treated at Children's Hospital. I was given Bactrim. I told My Mom about Turmeric. She took and and cured herself. She did not take any antibiotics.

It is now a month later. I have MRSA once again. In my armpit and on my ripcage under my left breast. I caught it as soon as I possibly could. I'm taking Turmeric. It stopped the growth and one has drained. They hurt like crazy but they seem to be going away.

I have to try Turmeric. Antibiotics have destroyed my imune system. Nobody told me I shouldn't eat sugar. It was Halloween and I had my fair share. Now I have a severe intestinal yeast infection. I have a yeast infection rash in my armpits, under my breasts, in the creases of my legs. It's horrible and agonizing. The itching and pain is horrible. I've stopped all consumption of sugar and simple carbs. I'm taking probiotics. I fear what another round of antibiotics will do to me.

I am so sick of being sick. Everytime I start feeling better something else happens to bring me down again. I truly hope I don't get MRSA a fourth time.

The more I read on all this the more ticked off I get. For many years now I have been getting these boils on the inside of my thighs, then later my breast and hips. I went to the Dr. and he told me that it was cause I was fat. Told me to lose weight. I later went back with this huge hole in the side of my breast and another Dr. told me that it was staph and I told him about the other ones on my body, he said he could give me a antibiotics but that it was not worth staying on them all my life. So i didn't get them. Now here I sit, with another boil and no treatment to resolve it. I am so sit of these small town doctors who don't care about people. By the way I did listen to the first one and I am 65lbs lighter.....guess what, I am a size 12 now and still having them appear. I am so embarrassed at the scars I have. Does anyone know of a cream that will help diminish the scars? If so please email me, your_hearts_deepest_desire2005 @yahoo.com

I just got home from the hospital with my 1 1/2 year old son. He was mrsa positive and had to have intervenious iv for 4 days. Also i have it and have breakouts in my breasts often. I was also hospitalized for a couple of days last year. It tends to always come out in the same area. For my son it was on his butt. This is so horrible and to watch him in the hospital hooked up to an iv was so sad. Why can't this be prevented? A confused mom....

I have MRSA I am reading these articles and quotes of people and are feeling much worse! I hope with the big news of outbreaks and national news something is done to help those of us with families we do not want to infect. I have a baby that I am afraid to hold. I caught MRSA in a jail, that I had to go to for something I didnt even do, talk about a bad stretch of luck.

My grandaughter has had a staph infection 4 times since July 2007. We think she contracted it from a relative. She has been on Bactrum, Zithromax and bactroban ointment. She is only 1 and I am concerned that this is going to start causing more severe problems, because it has been M.R.S.A.. The boils come up on her buttocks and it is getting very annoying. Her doctor told me that a dermatologist reccomended that his patients with Staph to bath in bath water with a small amount of clorox in the water 2 times a month. Please tell me is there anything else we can do. I am going to get her some Hibaclense for bathing. HELP!
