Well I was born with at VSD and never had a migraine until immediately after I had the surgery when I was 12--I think the two are connected, but from what I read up on, it's kind of the opposite from what everyone is saying.

After 40 years of suffering migraines (you know the type with aura , nausea etc)I began supplementing with magnesium and have not had a migraine since save for two times over the past year when I didn't supplement for a few days.Just happened across an article last week that connected fluoridation to magnesium deficiency and researched and found many more articlkes baout this as well as the history of fluoridation in NSW. It might be coincidence but the year I began to experience migraines at the age of 13 was the year fluoridation was introduced in Sydney. perhaps there is a link somewhere.

I have severe migraines. I only have 4 or 5 a year but lose most of my vision half an hour before the headache. I have recently heard of the relationship discovered between VSDs and migraines. I am considering surgery in the next year. Anyone else had surgery for a hole in their heart that corrected migraines?

I am 55 and had migraines with visual aura since I was about 12. in March 2011 I had a hip replacement and suffered a minor stroke shortly after the operation - the symptoms of the stroke were siniliar to the usual visual aura in a migraine but much more intense and repeated several times during the following days. This was eventually diagnosed as resulting from a small clot of blood from the op passing through a vsd into my brain. I had an op to close the VSD in Dec 2011 and have not had a migraine since ! I also don't get 'sunspots' or other visual blotches that I used to get regularly.

Hope this helps
