I'd think twice about using hormones. They may be ok, if tightly controlled by a doctor who is really an expert on hormones (just 'cause they can give it to you doesn't make them an expert on it). But there are also side effects, as with everything, and there aren't any real studies for long term effects.

Here's some more information about women's sexual health, and hormones at menopause: http://www.antiagingjournal.org/menopause-and...

Menopause has brought about problems to many ageing women, including osteoporosis, and in the height of controversies linked to bisphosphonates such as Fosamax, hormone therapy has been receiving revisits and support lately. Current information about Fosamax and related issues are featured at http://www.fosamax-lawsuit.net

Hormone therapy (HT) refers to either estrogen or combination estrogen /progesterone treatment.
Estrogen therapy is the most highly effective prescription medication for treating menopause symptoms and in light of recent research is still safe and effective for many women when used for fewer than five years.
Estrogen therapy reduces or eliminates several symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, disturbed sleep resulting from hot flashes, and vaginal dryness.

Estrogen is responsible for maintaining bone density and skin temperature. Lack of estrogen levels lead to problems such as urinary problems, dryness of the vagina, sleep disorders, hot flashes, and thinning of the hair. Low estrogen level is also linked to osteoporosis later on in life. Progesterone on the other hand is responsible for preparing the womb for the arrival of an egg after fertilization. Although low levels of progesterone do not cause any immediate problem, it increases the chances of developing endometrial cancer.
