I'm 38, from Houston and suffering post-hysterectomy menopause.

Has anyone tried BioTE pellet therapy? It's one of the newer names on the market, it seems like.

www.biotemedical.com

I'm curious if any of the people on the forum have personally used it; they say a lot of good things on the website but I trust honest opinions from this forum more.

My response: I'm scared as hell. I've been onerdosed on bioid hrt testosterone. I'm damn near maniacal and full of rage and violent aggression. What do I do???? Is there a counter measure I can take that will intercept the tester rostering down or eliminate it? I'm mean right now. I'm not right in the head. Will an anti-androgen help counter balance the overdosed pellet? Please help me. Kmmee63@gmail.com.

What did the Dr suggest? That's horrible that you are going thru this. Maybe you need to contact your primary physician, maybe they can prescribe something.

I had estrogen/testosterone pellets inserted in June 2013. The only reason I wanted to try was for mere convenience of not having to go get a hormone shot every month. I feel stupid or misinformed about the side affects. I never had hair loss or enlarged clitoris and depend voice from the shots but I am a naturopath and believe my metabolism is so high I absorbed all the T at once causing my hair to change rapidly and it is now November and I still have thin hair with no re pelleting. I have gone into a depression, seem agitated easily and now scared to do any hormone replacement. Beware not all hormone therapy is the same and bio identical is not bio identical. Every body has a different receptive reaction and you can not know how this can change your life for better or worse. I pride myself on being educated in medicine but there are some things you can not trust and the doctors that are doing bio identical are hurdling women in like cattle because they are desperate to feel good. It is about the money to most doctors so beware what they may promise you.

Was using the cream for approx 1.5 yrs. Switched to the pellets(estrogen/T) in Oct. It's been six weeks now and I love it! Had a complete hysterectomy fourteen yrs ago. Was on Premarin for years and that didn't even come close to how effective and dead on the pellets are. A complete 180 degree transformation. No more headaches, hot flashes and lets just say, no more stock in lubricant. Libido thru the roof..I love it!
I did not have any problems with the injection or pain at the site.
Only draw back, but I will live with it since the benefits out weigh it, is the breast/nipple tenderness. It felt like when I was pregnant. Had to sleep with a bra on for approx two weeks but it has subsided. Hoping more woman have the benefits I have had.

Hello, I am so happy to hear that these pellets are working for you. I have been getting them for almost 2 years now and I am still trying to adjust, although my hot flashes, night sweats are completely gone, and I do have a pretty good libido, my only problem is trying to get my headaches under control and a couple other issues, but I am getting there. If I can ask, where do you go for pellets and how much of E and T did they give you. I am always so curious as I seem to get a pretty low dose of E at10mg and 70 T. Thank you so much and have a great day. Gina

Hi Brit, Did you get this yeast infection since getting these pellets? I had a lot of vaginal discharge from the pellets but it wasn't a yeast infection. It was however very annoying but thankfully with each new pellet insert it got better and didn't last as long. This vaginal discharge only came right after my pellet insert and disappeared while my pellets wore off, at first I thought this was suppose to be the lubricant they promised with these pellets, it did help with vaginal dryness for sure, lol! So my question would be, did your doctor say it was a yeast infection? Take care, Gina

I am sure you are aware that what dose is good for me may not be good for you. I don't remember the dosage but for some reason 25 mg of E seems to come to mind. We just went from my levels from the lab work. My T was "in range." My estradiol was way low. Based on my symptoms, the RN suggested a dose and went from there. I will need to have lab work next week or so to see where the levels are after being on the pellets. Like I said we are different but your E seems low. Have you had your thyroid checked? I used to be hyper with bad headaches but all my levels for the thyroid have been in range for years(no more meds). Ask for repeat labs to ck your estradiol. I have the pellets done here in AZ.

Sorry to say that I go to his wife and they are not doing such a great job with me.
I had a reaction to the anastrozole in the T pellets and she said that could not happen cause it is such a tiny dose and now I AM EXHAUSTED after the pellet insertion and she says that is not happening either.
Well I really thought they were the kind of Drs that undetrstood but what I can see is they are the kind of Drs that give you what they feel is necessary and if you have a different reaction to it then you are wrong.

I had the testosterone pellets placed almost six weeks ago. 175 mg for test. and 12.5 for estrogen. I have not felt any difference, especially in the libido dept. I am sleeping well that's about all. I had my blood work retested and it showed my estrogen level was up from a <5 to a 37.5 and my test. from 16 to 400. The nurse said they wouldn't give me anymore test. pellets but I could benefit for more estrogen. Has anyone else had this problem of not really noticing a difference and does it possibly get better as the weeks go? I'm going back in next week, 12/11/13 to discuss this with my doc. I also was told that the Sotto Pelle pellets were better than the BioTe. Of course other docs including mine said that they are the same. I've heard different from another doctor who actually compared the both pellets and said that the BioTe had different formula than the Sotto Pelle. If anyone could respond to your experience, I'd appreciate it.

Tks.

I'm on my second round of pellets. The first inserts I got were 25E/80T. I felt estrogen deficient the entire time and seemed to burn the estrogen pellet up in now time at all. I also experienced ongoing urinary incontinence as well as off and on symptoms of urinary discomfort. 2nd inserts were 3 weeks as of today 50E/100T. Still struggling with urinary incontinence, and far too much muscle tension and possible joint pain...body hurts so badly that I really can't tell the difference! I really want these pellets to work for me. Also, I have horrible fatigue. I feel that I cannot get enough sleep. I thought the testosterone would increase my energy level as well as my libido. I am so exhausted that sex is out of the question as well as anything else that requires motivation and energy. I also have increased muscle tension in my shoulders and neck. Any ideas? I'm totally lost.

Maybe you need to have your thyroid levels checked. How long was it between pellet insertion? I have been eight weeks now and they drew blood after six weeks and levels were good. I can tell now that I am not where I was a couple of weeks after the initial insertion of the pellets, but still good.

Thyroid has been checked, re-checked, and checked again! LOL! It's fine. First inserts were in August but pretty sure I didn't get enough estrogen the first time...got 25E/80T and felt estrogen deficient the entire time. Got the 2nd set 3 weeks ago. They were bumped up to 50E/100T. Have felt miserable and had a horrible night last night but have actually felt pretty good today except for a slight headache. I know we're all different but out of curiosity, what is your dose? Hey, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be one of those women that will do much better if my doc will ignore my levels and pay closer attention to how I'm feeling. I had labs done 3 different times during the first round of pellets, levels varied each time and my doc told me they looked good and that I should be feeling good. Well, I wasn't! I felt horrible! I was supposed to have labs drawn 2 weeks after this second set but I decided to wait until I reached a point that I felt like I wanted to feel (if that happens) and have the labs drawn then. That way, I can say that I felt best when my levels were ______. I'm self pay and don't see the point in paying for labs every few weeks to hear that they look good when I know that I feel horrible!

I saw where you said the implant can be removed? I have had mine in for 10 days and have become pregnant and want it out! Is this removal fairly quick and easy?

Rene-

It is easy to remove if they have not been in for a long time. There is also a cleanse that you can use that they have.

My husband and I are both new to this and have had one pellet application. Oct 31, 2013 his full strengtn and me less as i wanted to be more conservative. I feel no different and at 64 yrs for the first time have terrible facial breakouts that seems to be hard to heal, also have gained 11 pounds in 5 weeks and I needed to loose 20 pounds to start and now more weight. I told the nurse and she said we can give you a dieuretic. I took no help. at the pellet insertion point my skin is still itchy, and sore, sensitive going on 8 weeks. this seems to be a new hot thing here with lots of seminars and a big money maker for the dr who started it in our area.
is this realy good to have your skin CUT every 3-4 months to insert these pellets ? then your skin has to heal ? I have used hormone patches and creams to rub on inner thighs with no weight gain or facial breakouts.

there are many assistants cutting and placing these in a patients skin with little training beware. ask questions.

Do you know the milligram of the pellet(s) you received? I'm experiencing the same problem as you and finally figured out how to make myself comfortable until pellets wear off. Pellet docs have a tendency to pump women full of testosterone with the assumption that we are going to convert enough of it to estrogen to supply our estrogen needs. Some pellets docs treat women with testosterone only and SOME of those women feel great. Like you, I used patches for years before trying the pellets. I used estrogen only. I started out conservatively with my first set of pellets and soon realized that although I got an estrogen and a testosterone pellet, that I wasn't getting enough estrogen. I had to supplement the pellets by using an estrogen patch the entire duration of the 1st set of pellets. I got ANOTHER set of pellets November 9th, my estrogen pellet dose was doubled by my doctor also increased my testosterone dose. I'm about to turn 54 and have zits and very oily hair for the first time in my life. My anxiety level was through the roof and swollen with fluid to the point of misery. I had to fall back on my estrogen patches and keep bumping my dose up until I apparently managed to get it high enough to tolerate the testosterone. Once I did that, the zits are going away, my hair has a healthy amount of oil, and all the fluid is gone. I have not had lab work done because I don't care what my levels are right now. I'm just counting the days until the pellets (especially the testosterone) are gone from my system. I also believe that the testosterone increased my anxiety to a level that caused me to burn the estrogen pellet up. Either that or my testosterone level is much too high in relationship to my estrogen level that I was getting from the pellet only. I'm all the way up to using my full regular patch dose before ever starting the pellet therapy and have only had the pellets 6 weeks. They are NOT for me.
