You can thank Washington (Democrats and Republicans) for that.

What do you expect when this government takes more than 1/3rd of a wage earners salary due to taxes. This wage earner is you common citizen struggling in a Government that "Allows" 2% of this country's RICH with Tax Cuts that protect them.

The Poor, Middle class, seniors, military, civil servants, firefighters, police, etc., etc.
Are carrying the Nation. It is on "Our Backs" that the government relys/no demands backing from, while the RICH remain "Untouchable!"

49% of the US population pay no income tax whatsoever and many of those get money back on the earner income credit.

I agree many rich do not pay their fair share (and that should change) but 49% of our population have no "skin in the game" when it comes to paying taxes and the future obligations for paying taxes.

Get rid of all loop holes, deductions, etc. Everyone pays a flat tax. If your poor it is not much 5% but a least you contributed to the Government. If your rich the % is higher but in not above 50%.

Taxing just the rich does not solve the problem. Tax everyone and cut, cut, cut spending is the only way.

The Debt commission had it right. Everything is on the table and it is revenue increases, cuts and reform of entitlements.

Excellent idea!!! Do you think there is a way to get the "noids" in Washington to listen to you? It sure would be nice to have someone in Washington that thinks along the same lines as you do.

I've got an idea. How about creating a law mandating that people buy their own health insurance and creating an exchange where low-income families can get insurance at a lower cost? Surely, Republicans and Democrats can agree on something like that.

I buy my own health insurance and so does the wife. But that is too simple an idea for the dipwits in Washington to understand.

I was making a joke. Obamacare has the mandate in it. Republicans were for it before they were against it.

That is right, I forgot that Obamacare has the insurance mandate in it and that is what has caused people and states to throw a major hissy fit.

Thanks for reminding me...been a long bad day.

I think most of America would.

Problem is our politicians are bought and paid for by those that do not like this option.

The Republicans by rich individuals and companies that like the loop holes. Warrent Buffet pays around 16% on his income tax while I pay in that upper bracket.

And the Democrats by those that want more handouts from the Government at no expense to them. Why try to advance myself and become a productive member of society when the Government will provide for my needs with no obligation on my part?

The working middle class is stuck in the middle and is shirnking.'

When there is no middle class there will no longer be an America because there will be no one to pay the bills (or debt as it may be).

That is the point our dumb leaders in Washington miss every time.

The "noids" in Washington do not get it.

We have a leader of the Senate that still believes that SS, Medicare and medicade are fine and will last forever.

Want to fix the problem.

Politicians including the president pay into and get the same SS and Medicare benefits we do.

As long as they are not reducing the national debt their paychecks go to the teasury to pay bill and the debt. And no make up your own accounting system either.

In 2012 vote to throw out the establishement "status quo" politicians.

If a politician does not pay their taxes throw them in Jail like you would me and attach their assets (Rangel, Geitner, etc.)

If they had to live with the same things we did those things would probably get fixed.

Since they live like the royal family for the most part we need to show them in 2012 we do have all the power for a short period every four years.

You're dead-on right. What gets me is that corporations and the wealthy don't pay their fair share because in essence, they make the laws. The welfare class doesn't pay its fair share because of their sheer and growing volume and the liberal pols' groveling for their potential vote, thereby deeming them "poor and underprivileged." In the end, it's the middle class who is getting gnawed on slowly but surely from each end of the economic spectrum. Sadly, this is no accident; it's been in the works on a global level for decades, designed and paid for by those who stand to gain the most power and wealth out of such manipulation. The U.S. and similar countries sink while for-the-time-being Third World countries rise. During many of our lifetimes, these two extremes will meet somewhere in the middle, with the end result looking much like present-day Mexico.

Agree,

Have to wonder how many millionaires became billionaires in the economic crash and TRAP money thrown at it.

Makes me think the "economic meltdown" and resulting bailout was done purely by design to move wealth from one group (middle class tax payers) to another group (ultra wealthy companies and individuals).

A lot of things were bought up by the big companies and wealthy people are bargan basement prices in the last few years.

The bright side is corporation do not vote and while the ultra rich can vote they are not even close to a majority.

So hopefully regardless of the BS we hear in the media, the negative campain ads all sides run that and the folks that are too stupid to realizing always voting for a given party instead of a person is a bad thing that "we the people" get smart and get rid of the career politicians backed by parties and special interest (thing includes both the rich and those that benefit from government handouts without producing anything). It is the only time we have "true say" in our country.

2010 was a start, 2012 will hopefully continue and with any hope by 2014 the career "bsuiness as usual" politician (both those backing the rich and the nanny state hand out groups) can be moved out of Washington and onto the endangered species list.
