The VA's Latest Agent Orange Compensation: Is It Too Little, Too Late?
Back in 2004, while I was covering Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign for Newsweek, I broke a story about his heavy exposure to the highly toxic herbicide Agent Orange used by the U.S. military while he captained a Swift Boat in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, and the fact that he had prostate cancer. Now today Aug 17th 2011 Senitor Codurn and others are working to limit funds for agent orange claims and or show more proof it's from agent orange. We have suffered for over 38 years with cancers to thousands of deaths and NOW it seems they wont to cut our funds and make us take more test? More C&P Doctors to re check for heart problems? Skin cancer and more........... What do you think? Give us your thoughts on - - - Agent Orange - - -

I think the money and service connection should have come sooner as the U S Government NEW Agent Orange would / can and does cause Cancer and heart problems!
Now that we WON this award it seems that Washington D. C. wont to make it harder to get help / health care / compensation for Agent Orange!
I also been reading they can if they so deamd to retest US Vets over the next few years and on some cut there pay / award is they feel he has gotten better! Some in Congress also would like to cut the awards in half and end claims for Agent Orange like Canada has with a dead line / date.
If this happens thousands who serverd in Vietnam will be left out in the cold as we have for over 40 years now.
You need to do as I did and will again SEND EMAILS / LETTERS let them know who we are and we are sick and in need of health care by the VA and awards long over due cause of Agent Orange.
I urge ALL vietnam vets to write Washington and let your voice be here on this on going problem or some of YOU will not get awarded.........
Cut off date could happen on Agent Orange

I found out something about Agent Orange. The way the claim works is that if you are exposed, the clock starts ticking and the VA gives you ten years. If you are not dead or have not filed a claim by then, you are out of the running. It can take up to 5 years for the paperwork to get processed. By that time, the vet is either too sick and can't prove where he has been exposed or the radiation from the treatments will kills him. When my buddy got diagnosed with cancer of the lung, he was lucky to have a service rep near by and he was told to file a claim immediately. Then we received a notice in the mail that said,'Agent Orange money is being used up, so file for your claim now'. It took almost 3 years for the claim to be approved and the vet only lived another 3 years after that. Yes, he received full benefits and burial expenses BUT when Hospice care took over, they did NOT explain to me, that an autopsy was required to confirm the vet died of Agent Orange cancer. Try telling that to his mother who did not understand the VA system. Try telling a mother that her son is going to be cut up to confirm the existence of a chemical spray that the govt did while her son was defending his country. It is law, she was told.'Any veteran who is exposed to Agent Orange is required to have an autopsy by law' she was told and his body was taken away while I called the coroner each day to find out when her sons body was going to be released. Absolutely heartbreaking!

I thank that Senitor Codurn and the others who want to cut agent orange claims should be exposed to this agent orange and let them see what kind of illnesses they get from it, and if they should get leukemia or some other cancer from it to see if they would like to get compensation for it. Congress and the va made a commitment to provide treatment and compensation for the long term health effects of exposure to this herbicide and now they want to cut it. let them put there ass where we were in the 60s and let them get what we got. thinks to congress and all the other Senitor's like Codurn for help (NOT).
