Whatever the figures, they cannot be accurate unless valid testing is done on the patient. As long as the ELISA test is the first, and sometimes only test, the results will be skewed.
The College of American Pathologists has found that test to be inaccurate 50% of the time. Why not just flip a coin? I have Lyme disease. I have also had 3 ELISA tests that gave false results. Is there any wonder why med costs are out of control?
The CDC and Main St medicine dropped the ball on Lymes a long time ago. It is epidemic in WI and MN. And it is costly. Money is wasted on treatments for the wrong diagnosis. Productivity is lost. People are suffering because of lack of accurate diagnosis and treatment.
If you suspect you have have a tick borne illness, be your own best advocate. Do not be bullied by medical providers. Keep their feet to the fire. Do your homework and insist on being heard. If you rely on Main St medicine alone, you will continue to suffer.
