I hate to say it but an adult set of lungs was basically wasted. They say the system or age limits on the tranplant list were there to save the most lives. Now one person is on her second set of lungs. That's possibly 2 adults that would've gotten lungs before this controversy.
I don't know which is worse the 2 people who actually died, the two people that might of gotten the lungs this child got or what this child is going through.
May the donors rest in peace the child have a speedy recovery.

So, first this girl gets put to the top of two lists, ahead of others who have been waiting, then she gets two sets of lungs within a week. Two people died and donated their organs which were intended to go to the next in line, the next person who waited their turn. Now, those two people may have also died while their lungs were wasted on this child who jumped ahead of them and was placed at the top of two lists, ahead of others who were in need, who also have families, who waited for their turn as intended, who didn't go to court to cut in line and who didn't not only get one set of lungs that weren't rightfully hers, but then got another set within a week.
This is really unfair to those who went without. How many more lungs will this girl get while others die waiting? How many children may lose their Mommy or Daddy who was waiting for lungs before this girl jumped ahead of them and got two sets of lungs while their loved ones lay dying.

I can't believe some strings weren't pulled or policies over looked for this second set of lungs. From waiting for months for one set then getting two in less than one month?
Then the parents go public for attention then keep her condition and the second set of lungs a secret?
I've read so much where not only kids don't fair as well with transplants/adult organs alot of people with cystic fibrosis patients will still have problems. So yeah if you are devising policies for a transplant list you should take survivability into consideration. Either that or simply first come first serve as far as a match.

This is just so wrong in so many ways.

I'm confused, so doctors said she could die before or during surgery, so why did they risk putting in new lungs? That is sad that qualified adults did not receive lungs, while she got lungs that had to be cut to fit her. They really need to allocate these lungs to people at the least risk for rejection. I dislike the way the family is blaming the donor lungs, someone died and gave you a gift and all you can do is put them down, what a shame. If I was the family of donor, I would be offended and hurt that these people didn't even appreciate the last thing my loved one could give. This shows how selfish and uncaring the parents are to other people, be sensitive towards the donor, the lungs didn't come from a junkyard, but from a human that was loved by their family. In the end if these fail will she get a 3rd pair? a 4th? Where does it stop?

Exactly. The paraded her daughter in public to garner sympathy. They used her like a prop because they could not accept the fact that she might die. Then they let hypocritical conservative politicians exploit the situation jumping on a government official for not interfering in private sector medical matters. To make matters worse they kept the second transplant a secret after going public begging for the first. And yes the donors have yet to properly acknowledged for their donation. They were slow to say it was an adult set of lungs after the first and I don't think they said where the second set of lungs came from.

Where does it stop? Good question.
Now, the mom is shamelessly begging for money on Facebook. So, now we learn what she was really after. A sob story to rake in money in the name of her dying child and at the expense of at least two better suited patients who may die waiting for the lungs being hacked up to stuff into the too small body of her incurable daughter.
By the way, the second set of lungs also came from an adult donor.

If the mom is begging for money on facebook did she at least set up a charity in her daughter's name or is she asking direct.
And another adult with higher survivability chances missed another chance at a lung.
Still disgusted at the way the speak out of bothsides of their mouth politicians begged for the government to interfere in private medical matters.
