My 40 year old non-smoking wife was dx with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer on september 10. We have 4 children 11,9,7,5.

She is in otherwise excellent health. After one round of chemo her cough was much less. Now after the one round of four chemo drugs, and two weeks of one chemo drug, her cough is gone entirely. We have 15 more weeks of chemo before she begins the maintenance targeted therapy drugs.

She insists on walking every day... including during chemo. We usually take at least one 4.5 mile walk per week, but she walks at least 15-30 minutes the other days.

Exercise, eat right, vitamins, listen to the dr., chemo, and remain hopeful.

We found out my Dad has lung cancer back in May and this past weekend they drained 3.5 liters off his lung. We too have been given the few months but from what i have heard in the last couple of days its probably more like weeks maybe even days. My dad has never smoked and this is just so hard on everyone especially my mom i think she is really loosing it and I'm 5 hours away but keep driving back on the weekends. People ask me how I am doing and all I can say is I'm really not sure.

Hi, my mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma and it is in both of her lungs. She was diagnosed 3 months ago and as we speak she is in the hospital with pneumonia again. This makes the 4th time this year. In the past 3 months everything seems to be falling apart. They found cancer during a colonostopy and removed all the cancer. We thought great, we got lucky. After her 3rd pneumonia episode her dr sent her for a ct on her lungs. It showed she had a spot on her right lung. They did a lung biopsy which came back positive. They then did a pet scan which showed increased activity in her thyroid, both lungs and colon. So she had thyroid biopsy done it was negative, went back for another colonostopy showed just inflammation. So at this point the dr she was seeing said he didnt know what to do with her. So, he said we needed to see an onocologist<sp> so with the help of family we found a great Dr. he ordered another ct scan and we got the results today that it has no cure but treatment. That they will do 6 rounds of chemo once every 3 weeks and then she will be placed on a pill. My question is, what is usually the life expectancy with this cancer type. I believe Dr said it was small cell, and was a slow processing type cancer. But, now they say it appears she has a mass in her neck now too. So, we go on wed for them to put a port in and start chemo. What should i expect from here>? I have been researching this as much as i possibly can. And, who better to get honest real information from then families going through same thing i am going through. Thank you, and God bless each of you.

I am going to look into the apricot seed thing, I believe in the miracles of God and I also believe and remember the Bible telling us that God created all things needed for survival. I recently watched a NatGeo documentary about an herbal doctor of antiquity (a dying breed thanks to modern medicine)who treats his patients with only herbs and plants found in the Mesopatamia (sorry spelling) area. Other research I have done has indicated Jesus, Himself, used herbs with his followers and those seeking His healing touch....

It's a sad case that modern medicine seeks to treat the body (ie. the apricot seeds), and neglect mental wellbeing and spiritual health.

That is the reason why 99.99%, people die of cancer if they focus only on the physical part.

remember folks, when any of mind, body, spriit goes out of whack, cancer results.

My sister-in-law was told yesterday that there is nothing left to do. Told her to contact hospice and continue pain medicine. She has 3 wonderful daughters and a loving husband. I dont think they will be able to accept losing there mom. She is 49. I have been on the internet trying to get help. I will only accept this when I am convinced there is nothing left to do. God please give me a sign soon. To all going thru the same thing my prayers go out to you. Please HELP!!!

Hi! Caroline
I Was reading all the posts and the wheat grass juice caught my attention, My father in law has Stage IV lung cancer with lymph node and brain metastasis. He was diagnosed in May 2010 with stage IV . He has finished all his chemo and radiation. He started taking wheat grass juice as soon as we started his treatment. He is very healthy otherwise still rides his scooter to do all his routine work (Bank, Grocery etc.)I may later post more details for his situation.
May God give courage and strength to everybody to handle the situation. Please forgive me for my poor English.

Its been five years since you lost your son in law, and I am SO sorry for your loss. My mother is currently in hospital sick with stage 4 lung cancer, and not doing great to say the least. I am researching some options for her, the doctors have given up, and I came across your story and it broke my heart even more. I know your pain, I feel it every day. My mother is on a ventilator, otherwise I would surely try the seeds. I can only pray at this time, none of my research is giving me enough hope. Everything repeats itself and in my mothers condition her options are limited. She never even had a chance to do one chemo treatment. Doctors told her no rush- but a week later she was hospitalized and intubated and too unstable to even start. SMH.

My prayers are all with you. These are not easy times but it's all team work. cancer is something we all must fight together! Your loved ones need you more than ever. Roll up your sleeves and get to work. If this means seeking medical help, hollistic/natural help or spiritual help. You need to do it all to build up that immune system and defeat this disease. It is possible...never lose hope!

My sister, 40 yrs old, recently diagonosed with Adenocarcinoma of lung. It has spread upto the cervical lymph nodes. She will be soon starting chemo in 2 days. She has never abused her body, never smoked!
She does have blood clots in her legs.

Its heart breaking for me, my mom and everybody who knows her. We lost our Dad 5 months ago coz of cancer.

I don't know why I am writing here, may be just sharing and letting my feelings out.

Cheryl my Mum has not long been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, she has it in the lymph nodes and the left side of her lung and possibly a secondary tumour in her back, were just guessing about the secondary tumour as they do scans one every few months if that so its no wander people die of lung cancer. Sorry dont mean to sound bitter Im just so upset, I am really close to my Mum, she is my world.

Im really sorry to hear what happened, I prayed as well and what happened is we thought my Mum was dieing but it turns out she had a calcium overload and needed to goto the hospital. What happened is she has a degree of lucidity back but shes still going to die however I guess I should count my blessings.(My world is wrecked at the momment and I cant see it getting any better, I know it sounds negative but I am just trying to be honest)

I dont understand why all the procrastination and not even trying to treat the disease or shrink the tumour is happening in the medical profession, I think its purely because my Mum is older.

I am absolutely devastated as I watch this disease tear apart a buetiful pious loving caring person

So upset

I was rather hopeful when I read your seeds story but then I read your follow ups. Im so sorry. The sad thing is I though I am good at empathising with people but cancer or lung cancer is analagous to just a word or something a person wont get/see until they have been through it.

All I can hope for is some kind of miracle but then my better sense tells me it would border on tempting the lord or removing the need for faith and hence I would be surprised if it happened.

Sorry to here of your loss Cheryl and I totally respect your points of how lung cancer is and the fact it pretty much as far as I have seen leaves the medical proffession clueless

Devastated
