Thank you. I have concerns as well. Doctors usually make me feel paranoid but they recently found something in my left lung and are avid to say that it's most likely scar tissue. This is only the beginning for me. I have my second CT scan in a few weeks. I'm scared, but not as badly as I was at first. Sadly because I have been experiencing all of the symptoms that the origonal poster of this thread did. I'm already so tired. I don't recognize the person I am today without energy, always caughing stuff up and sometimes feeling like I'm suffocating. Dizzy and truely depressed. The aches are also there, just as described. This is a far cry from the woman I was a year ago.

you got that right. im from emanuel county and honest to goodness i wouldent take my dog to that place. theres not enough room here to bein to tell you all the horror stories about that place. About 25 years or so ago i knew the woman that was the head of the blood bank there and she is an introvenus drug user. scarey huh? thats just one story honey. get the hell out of ga. the whole state is posioned. its repressed. the hardest working people i know live there and anit got s**t and never will. moving to nc was the best thing iv ever done for me and my family

In our town in Georgia,USA, a lung x-ray at the independent imaging center is $49 without insurance. That includes the radiologist's fee. If you're worried, go to your gp, clinic, or health dept. doctor and ask for lab orders. To the imaging center, get a lung xray, and quit worrying. Lung cancer is rare. Even only 15% of smokers get it. (They die of a lot of other things, too.) Chances are you don't have it. But, it's not hard to know at all.

I am a 57 (58 in Feb) male caucasion who was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in Dec, 2005. My Prostate was successfully removed in March 2006. My post-surgery pathology indicated a Gleason 4+3=7 Prostate Cancer, with negative margins - e.g. reasonably certain that it was confined to my Prostate.
Lymphectomy was negative for cancer cells.
I often ache all over (flu-like), wheeze, I'm not really short of breath, just seems like a chore to breathe at times. I have a persistent cough, dry at times, clear wite phlegm at other times. I sometimes choke on 'nothing' and cough until I feel my head and abs will explode. I have no loss of appetite and have gained weight (from various meds).
I have a very hoarse voice at times - expecially when I'm tired and, while it's not difficult to swallow, it's a slight challenge.
I don't often sleep past 2am - when I wake, I find I can't lay down any longer, my hands and feet feel 'prickly' and I have a 'crawly' feeling all over.
While working (software developer), I find myself thoroughly into my work (e.g. not day dreaming) and yet I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Sometimes in the evening, I ache so badly that I can't sit still, I have to walk around.
My GP (of 10 years) recently quit and went to Bejing to be an Embassy Doctor.
I have seen a new Dr once and am not sure of our relationship or my trust in him. I will see him again on Oct 31st and plan to have a candid discussion with him. He asked me to quit taking Advil and use Tylenol instead and my aches are much worse without Advil.
In the meantime, I have run my symptoms thru various software and lung cancer seems to keep popping up.
I've read the lung cancer symptoms and, while my symptoms do present a similiarity to lung cancer symptoms, the lung cancer symptoms are fairly vague and my symptoms could also be associated with meds or other causes.
I recently (2 weeks ago) quit taking Citalopram because I read complaints that, among other things, it could cause insomnia at night and drowsiness in the daytime - I've also read that many people experience flu-like symptoms with Citalopram withdrawal - but I have had severe body ache going back at least a year prior to my Prostate Cancer diagnosis. I would always take Advil and lay down for a couple of hours and it would resolve.
Can any of you give me your personal insight into just what the Lung Cancer symptoms really feel like?
Also, what questions I should plan on asking my GP when I see him on Tuesday?
Also, what type of medical specialist should I see to rule out Lung Cancer, in the event I am thoroughly dissatisfied with my GP?
Thank you all for your time!

Alle de beste!

i am having a scare right now, I went in with horriable pains in what I thought was my upper right abdomen, well after gall bladder test that was negative they did a d dymer that came up positive for a embolism, after 2 cath scans both showed no clots, but the xray showed my lungs clear, but my cat scan showed pmneumonia and pneumotitis and said there were nodules and not to be alarmed. well this ride has been going on for 4 months and they said it was bleach exposure possibley but I am still sick...they finally decided to do a biopsy but can only do a open lung, well did a pet scan and it showed that it "lit" up in soft tissue (lung) and lymph nodes but my pulmonologist said this is not unusual from inflammation...I hurt so bad on my lower right lung but they say there is no problems or nodules there but it hurts there the most. I am on another round of steroids which makes me feel human again... is this sounding like anyone elses issue or does it sound like maybe it could be from something besides lung cancer... I was a smoker Iam 35 and smoked for 20 years. this came on sooo fast like seriously over night!!

I had my left upper lobe removed for squamous cell lung cancer last year. It was stage 1a, so no chemo was indicated. Prior to the discovery of the tumor I had a"bark", a single cough that would repeat every 15 minutes, or so. That lasted for the entre summer before the tumor was found. I became more fatigued and was dizzy and weak leading up to the surgery. I worked until the week before surgery and sometimes it was all I could do to continue. The tumor closed off a bronchia in the upper left lobe which was sort of like pneumonia. I could feel a pain in my upper left chest just prior to surgery. After I rcovered from the surgery (2 months) I returned to work and, while weak, had not felt better in years. This has gradually faded, and I am feeling weakness again, combined with a slght "bark". My follow up scans (every 6 months) show nothing. Just be aware that, especially with squamous cell which is slow growing, a tumor has to get large enough to be detected, usually around 1cm. The resolution of a CAT scan is about 1mm, but unless you are having a PET, it is hard for the radiologist to distinguish normal pathology from a small tumor.

The signs and symptoms of lung cancer can take years to develop and they may not appear until the disease is advanced. Symptoms of lung cancer that may occur elsewhere in the body. Common places for lung cancer to spread include other parts of the lungs, lymph nodes, bones, brain, liver, and adrenal glands. If you have any unusual physical feelings consult a doctor. I found one article, It may help. http://www.sierranevadacancer.com/news/lung-c...
