i got lice and so far "rid" does not work.

After reading, I don't know if i should even bother using these other shampoos, because it still might not work.

Some say you can drown the lice by using olive oil or whatever.

I've got an idea.

What about just taking a long bath everyday and make sure my head is underwater for a good 15-30 minutes??? for at least a month

Wouldn't that drown the lice? I know in theory they should, but you know how some insects can live in water for awhile. Ever seen the old "spider in pool still living"?

Seems like the "lice industry" always wants you to buy something.

"daily drowning" should eventually kill all newly hatched lice so that no new eggs are laid.

what you think???

Live Lice can close their breathing holes for 30 minutes so you would need to keep your head under water for longer than that.

Are you really willing to lay in the bath with your hair under water for that lng?

Choose yourself a natural remedy with a Neem Oil base. I found a great one here:

http://www.livelicefree.com

I would place the remedy here but I would probably be done for copyright. Besides the book is heaps cheaper than any chemical treatments and I can make it up whenever I like.

Hope this helps.

Any product you use is simply an aide in the treatment process. If you feel you must use a product please use a safe non toxic one as the above writer mentioned. Having a good lice comb, knowing what you are looking for, and checking closest contacts will go far in helping you to get past your infestation. Keep in mind that even if you do succeed in killing the adult bugs (which are the easiest to kill)nothing kills the nits therefor they must be removed. Furthermore, newly hatched baby bugs are very hard to see as they live on the scalp and can resemble a grain of sand. I hope this information proves helpful. Since I think or I agreed drowning should work, for last two days, I stay in my bath tub more than half hour each day, I feel less itch.

I plan to go to a local "sulphur hot spring " see this will speed up the lice killing

I am a single male and caught head lice while working in a hostel. that was 4 years ago and have tried everything encluding shaving my head, every medical treatment available, coating my hair with vinger and mayo then covering my head with cling film and other wierd things but nothing seems to help. It can't b re-infection as I live on my own.

Lice, so fun to have. Dunno why everyone keeps trying methods that don't work. The drug store shampoos are becoming ineffective because of resistance.
A kick-ass product to check out...

Caught lice from an old hat I found in the restroom of the gas station I work at, knew I shoulda washed it before I wore it but oh well!
Anyhow, a good remedy is to smear axl grease and 15 weight gear oil in your hair, alternating each one every other day, for 20 day's straight. Don't wash it out though, just comb the bigger part out and add the next day's batch on top of the old. They will be gone bfore ya know it.
Works good for crabs too.
Also works on warts!!!

My daughter has had recurrent problems with lice coming from her school. What has worked best for us has been carried out a couple of times by our hairdresser. If you've tried many things and are not succeeding, I would suggest this. This should be done by someone helping you. Cover head carefully and completely with a lot of hydrogen peroxide. Leave on for some 15-20 minutes. Remove by washing hair thoroughly. This should kill all the head lice, and it should also render all (or most) of the eggs unviable, since the stuff gets through their shell. Repeat this operation about a week later. This should take care of it. You can also try to remove as many eggs as possible, but it shouldn't even be necessary to do it, since they after you do this they shouldn't be able to hatch. Also, do not forget to properly wash everything that hair is ever in contact with: bed sheets and pillow cases, brushes, etc. Good luck.

Angie,

What I find sad is Stouffer's making money off of selling prepackaged mac & cheese to hungry kids. They MAKE money on this. Gasp. It is pathetic that Stouffer's would make money off of parents just trying to feed their hungry kids when there are recipes all over the internet. People save your money. Stouffers is just trying to make money off of hungry kids. It's Un-American I tell you.
