I have been having body lice for 4 months now. They eventually have gone to my scalp and I have tried Permethrin cream and Nix with not much success. Now I have my hair cut very short and they are still there. They go to my head and my clothes and my body. Could anyone please tell me how I can eliminate them totally. I have also washed my clothes with very hot water as well.

Hi Orin,

I had body lice last year. It took awhile to get diagnosed but once it did, the nurse at my doctor's office was very helpful. First, you want to bag up all items that you aren't going to use daily. Pick out a few outfits to wear, keep the clean and dirty in separate bags. One thing that helped me was washing the clothes the same day that I wore them. You wash on hot water but something that helped was putting white vinegar in the rinse cycle.

You will need to clean your house with vinegar and water. You will need to wash ceilings, walls, etc. Sweep every day if you have carpet and throw the sweeper bag in the outside trash. I also cleaned my sweeper out daily and it's good to do these things for 30 days.

I used a vinger rinse after my shower. I did the perm treatments and they were not so helpful. I used a spray bottle and sprayed myself after my shower with vinegar and water, including my scalp. This is what helped me get over it.

I have had body lice and head lice 3 mos. i can kill them with the nix which is ghe easy part. i tried vinegar and lidterine and i see they die on my body with alchohol also. I can't kill the body lice on my clothes!!!!!!!! I have tried borax mix with baking soda overnight. Bleach overnight in hot water cycle dryer clothes faded lice survived. Very frustrated I went to the laundrymat since their dryers are hotter than a residential drier for like 2 hrs the dryer stopped every 20 minutes I had to restart it maybe they didn't get heated enough. They didnt die. steaming helps but takes forever just lie 30 to steam 1 sweater. have tried listerine and vinegar in the rinse cycle I cap ful no luck. Maybe I need to add a whole 3 cups of listerine not sure how much. So Joanie how much vinegar did you put in the rinse cycle? I don't have a sweeper with bag I have vacuum with plastic tub. Which I wash it and dump the trash outside because there is snow. I don't like cleaning the vacuum in the house. I spray bleach a ll over and I have a feeling bleach doesn't kill lice maybe a few. I also clean with fabuloso which I read on a forum kills lice because it has baking soda in fabuloso. Researched a lot but hard to find something that has worked. I tried ironing which takes soooo long and it helps but they must hide in the zipper or crouch where it's hard to iron and I sprayed Lysol. Soo I hope this helps I can't afford to throw my clothes out. I'm very depressed and have not got close to anyone wouldn't want to pass it to them. Any suggestions would be appreciated :-).

okay. i had head lice when i was a bit younger. one thing that really helps is sleeping with mayonaise in your hair. put plastic wrap on your hair over the mayo. once you wake up take a shower\bath and make sure to get all the mayo out. then get some lice shampoo. (I reccomend Rid) makesure that your hair is fully dry before using the shampoo. hope this is helpful :)

My Dr. gave me good advise: washing is NOT nearly as important as DRYING!!!
My coat was infested with body-lice. I almost threw it away. But they decided to dry the daylights out of it-----3 hours!! It worked!! No more bugs. Now I skip washing and dry everything for 3 hours.. I don't get any activity from my clothes, just have to deal with my long hair now.

Did you ever find a cure for this. I'm at my wits end. In September I treated my daughter and I for head lice but had to do few treatments-next thing I knew we were getting crawling sensations everywhere like body lice. I've been to doctor and dermatologist and derm said we had none but I can see white and yellow specks on my clothes after hour or so of wearing them. I've washed everything every day and still can't rid us of them. If I feel a tickle on my skin I rub it and there's a little white speck or a little black speck there. Please help. I've spent hundreds and it still can't beat it. Did you manage to get rid of yours?

A SURE CURE FOR BODY LICE! GET YOUR LIFE BACK..

Itís not hopeless, no need to suffer anymore. I can go through the hell I went through about cleaning, bathing, washing clothes, etc, etc, etc, with no results, I also used over the counter with no results...but I will cut to the chase... IVERMECTIN! YOUR DOCTOR WILL NOT GIVE YOU THIS DRUG!... You can buy the horse paste version for about $3.00 a tube on Amazon, or other places, not sure of their prices, each notch is 50 pounds, I took more than my weight, just to be sure. I also did 4 days on, 3 days off, and I did this for 2 months, however long you take it, make sure when you get off of it you do not start to get any bites again, thatís how you know you are cured... I got the apple flavored version, doesnít taste bad at all.... Take it once a day on an empty stomach, take it with an 8oz glass of water, and donít eat for at least an hour afterward.....I was 85% better in one week, but they lay eggs that can hatch 30 days later, so I definitely would go to at least 40 days on this regimen..
Iím not going to wish you good luck, it definitly works, WHEN THEY BITE YOU THEY DIE!

Dr. give me ivermectin, relief was short lived only 2 doses. Read also on Healthy skin.com need 7 doses for 29 days. You are so right about taking for longer period of time. I was devastated after feeling normal again, only to feel and see the bites start up again. I am not sure how much to take if I order from Amazon, you mentioned tabs at 50? I weigh 155, how much dosage?

Hi
I've had a bad infestation and I've shaved all hair except for eyebrows which I comb often.
I'm also on ivermectin paste. I was wondering about bathing using this. Should I not bath at all the periods I am on this? I also would like to exercise, but am wondering if I should refrain from sweating? Or does this matter. I would welcome any thoughts please.
Thank you

Ivermectin helped, and Kleen Green killing these stinging bite mites!!! After one bath 4oz. 30 min soak and sprayed body with 2oz. in 14oz sprayer, next morning bites were drying up turning black because mite is still in the sore. Third day was peeling silicon flat type of scab off some bites, it was dead parasites! Now using it in laundry, car, funiture!!

I am suffering unknown lice/mites for 3 months. I threw away all of my clothes and got new ones. Dry clean all of my work clothes, wash with ammonia with the rest of clothes after soaking for 24 hrs. Drying over one hour clean clean clean my environment...... vacuum everyday and now started taking ivermectin paste for horse but problem still continues. I'm exhausted. They are in my car and my work also. I started using Microcide SQ it works but they don't die immediately. Actually they get more active when you treat the environment. Constant crawling feeling behind neck pin prick bites and attack while sleeping..... I don't know how I got infected as I'm clean person. I tried everything I can find in Internet...please everyone please share how you get rid of them?????
